It primarily treats hemoptysis (spitting blood). The *Jia Yi Jing* states: "This is where the Qi of the Foot-Yangming meridian emerges." Moxibustion of seven moxa cones (one *qi*, i.e., seven cones) is indicated.
For symptoms including hematemesis (vomiting blood), pain in the shoulder and hypochondrium, dry mouth, heart pain radiating to the back, aggravation by coughing, and kidney pain triggered by coughing, the Burong (ST19) acupoint is indicated for treatment.
For hemoptysis accompanied by chills and dry throat, the Taiyuan (LU9) acupoint is indicated.
For hematemesis, the Daling (PC7) and Ximen (PC4) acupoints are indicated.
For hematemesis accompanied by rebellious Qi ascending, the Shenmen (HT7) acupoint is indicated.
For hematemesis originating from the lower chest and diaphragm, the Shangwan (CV13) acupoint is indicated.
The Quze (PC3) acupoint is located in the depression at the medial end of the transverse cubital crease, accessible when the elbow is flexed. Moxibustion of seven cones on each side is indicated for hematemesis and concomitant bleeding due to heart pain. The *Jia Yi Jing* states: "This is where the Qi of the Hand-Jueyin pericardium meridian enters."
For internal injury causing hemoptysis with deficiency of Qi and Blood, resulting in a lack of moisture and luster on the body surface, needling the Diwuhui (ST28) acupoint is indicated.
For hematemesis, moxibustion of the Jueque (CV14) acupoint is indicated. This point is located 1 cun below the Jiutui (CV15) acupoint. The *Jia Yi Jing* states: "This is the Front-Mu point of the Heart, where the Qi of the Ren Mai emerges." Moxibustion of seven cones is indicated; the moxa cone should not be large, approximately the size of a chopstick tip. For hematemesis caused by deficiency consumption (Xu Lao), moxibustion of the Weiwan (CV12 or ST10 context dependent, here likely referring to a specific location near CV12/ST10 area often associated with stomach issues in ancient texts, literally "Stomach Palace") acupoint for three hundred cones is indicated. This point also treats vomiting, rebellious Qi, hematemesis, poor appetite, postprandial fullness, excessive saliva, and various diseases ("excessive saliva" is alternatively read as "excessive sleep").
