Discussion: The Foot-Shaoyin meridian is the meridian of the Kidney. When the meridian is deficient, wind-heat pathogenic factors invade and contend with body fluids (Jinye), resulting in sores growing inside the ear. Secular treatments for ear sores often employ topical applications, dripping agents, or ear-plugging medicines, under the belief that this expels pathogenic factors outward, relying exclusively on external therapies. Little do they know that taking oral medications to treat the Shaoyin-Kidney meridian is superior.
