It is discussed that the manifestations of Lung Wind-Stroke (Fei Zhong Feng) include profuse sweating and aversion to wind, a pale white complexion, frequent coughing, and shortness of breath. Symptoms are milder during the day and worsen in the evening. Diagnosis involves observing the area above the eyebrows, where the color appears white. Other symptoms include dry mouth with panting, dizziness accompanied by heaviness of the body, panting with swelling, chest fullness and shortness of breath when lying supine, as well as dizziness, mental confusion, and sweating. Heat generates wind, and when wind is excessive, it transforms into heat; open pores leading to profuse sweating indicate an excess of heat. Wind invading internally causes aversion to wind. The white complexion corresponds to Metal (Jin), which is the color associated with the Lung. In terms of pathological changes, it manifests as coughing. Since the Lung governs Qi, frequent coughing and shortness of breath occur. Wind is a Yang pathogen; Yang Qi resides on the exterior during the day and enters the interior at night. When Yang enters the interior and responds to wind, symptoms worsen in the evening. A white color observed above the eyebrows indicates the Lung's corresponding color. Dizziness and heaviness are caused by wind. Panting, swelling, chest fullness, and shortness of breath upon lying down are due to the Lung's governance over Qi.
For treating Lung Wind-Stroke presenting with stiffness and rigidity of the neck and back, chest fullness, shortness of breath, a sensation of insects crawling on the body, and weakness in the four limbs, use Fangfeng San (Saposhnikovia Powder):
