论曰昼而明视，暮不睹物，名曰雀目。言如鸟雀不能有见于夜也。夫卫气昼行于阳，夜
行于阴，阴血受邪，肝气不能上荣于目，肝受血而能视，今邪在于肝，阴血涩滞，至暮则甚
，故遇夜目睛昏，不能睹物，世谓之雀目。
治雀目，防风煮肝散方
防风（去叉） 黄连（去须） 谷精草 黄芩（去黑心） 甘草（锉炙） 天南星（炮
各一两）
蛤粉（半分）
上七味，捣罗为细散，每服一钱匕，用羊子肝一片，铜竹刀批开，渗药在内，以麻缕缠
定，研粟米饭一大盏。银石锅内煮熟放温，临卧嚼服，切不得犯铁器，病甚者，不过再服、
必效。
治雀目，郁金散方
郁金（三两） 新牛胆（一枚） 猪胆（二枚） 蛤粉（研三两） 大黄（锉炒半两） 黄
连（去
须半两） 雄黄（研一分）
上七味，将五味为细散，并猪胆拌和，入牛胆中填满，阴干为细散，每服大人一钱匕，
小儿半钱匕，食后新汲水调下。赤眼气眼疳眼，亦能治之。
治雀目年深不瘥，铅丹丸方
铅丹（半两） 黄芩（去黑心一两） 蛤粉（一两半）
上三味，捣研为细末，别熔黄蜡一两，入药内同研匀，更入薄面糊丸，如弹子大，批猪
肝作薄片，裹药米泔煮肝熟为度，烂嚼用煮肝米泔汤下，空心食前服，临卧再服。
治雀目，及内外障眼，风毒青盲，暴赤眼等，空青散方
羊梅青（好者水浴过控干研） 胡黄连（水浴过为细末各一分） 槐牙（初出如雀舌时

未出勿食不语摘之不计多少入一青竹筒内不令鸡犬等见垂于天月德上候干为末一钱半）
上三味，同研匀细如粉，入龙脑一字许，更研匀密收，每夜卧时，先温水净漱口，仰面
卧，用苇筒子吹药一字，入两鼻中，但令如常喘息，便自睡着，眼中觉凉冷为妙。隔夜一次
用之，极效。
治雀目，不拘年月远近，但黄昏不见物者，蛤粉丸方
蛤粉（好者研极细） 黄蜡（等分）
上二味，先熔蜡，入蛤粉拌和，丸如梧桐子大，用 猪子肝一片，以箸札作孔子，捏
药丸入孔中，以麻缕缠系周遍，用清水煮熟，取出切作薄片、热吃，仍将煮药汤熏眼，百无
所忌。
治雀目，咫尺不见物，煮肝散方
紫芥菜子真者，炒令黑色，碾为细散，用羊肝一具，分作八服，每用散三钱，捻在肝
上，外托荷叶，裹煮令熟，放冷服，以煮肝汤下，不过一具肝，永除根本，临卧时服。
治肝虚雀目，夜不见物，如圣散方
蛤粉 青葙子 石决明（各半两）
上三味为细散，用牛肝二两，批开渗药三钱匕在内，麻缕扎定。用米泔水煮熟为度。细
嚼米饮下，临卧服，觉时便见物，若用鸡兔肝煮药皆可。
治雀目。大黄车前子汤方
大黄（煨锉） 车前子 玄参 黄芩（去黑心） 细辛（去苗叶） 茺蔚子（各二两）
上六味，粗捣筛，每服二钱匕，水一盏，黑豆三七粒，煎至五分，去滓，空心临卧各一
服。
治雀目，泻肝汤方
黄芩（去黑心） 防风（去叉各二两） 芍药 桔梗（去芦头炒） 大黄（湿纸裹煨锉
各一两）
上五味，粗捣筛，每服一钱匕，水一盏，煎至五分，去滓入芒硝半钱匕，再煎令沸，食
后温服。
治雀目，补肝汤方
人参 白茯苓（去黑皮） 车前子 黄芩（去黑心） 大黄（湿纸裹煨各一两） 五味
子防
风（去叉各一两） 玄参（一两半）
上八味，粗捣筛，每服二钱匕，水一盏，煎至六分，去滓食后温服之。
治雀目。还睛丸方
人参 细辛（去苗叶） 白茯苓（去黑皮） 木香 知母（焙） 芎 （各一两） 石决明 茺
蔚子（各二两）
上八味，捣罗为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大，空心茶清下十丸。
治眼目昼视精明，暮夜昏暗，视不见物，名曰雀目，石斛散方

上三味，捣罗为散，每服三钱匕，空心米饮调服、日再。

上九味，除柏子仁外，并细锉焙干，捣罗为末拌匀，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大，每服二
十丸，食后温水下，临卧再服。加至三十丸。
论述说：白天能清晰视物，到了晚上却看不见东西，这种病症称为雀目。意思是像鸟雀一样在夜间无法看见物体。卫气白天运行于阳分，夜晚运行于阴分。如果阴血受到邪气侵袭，肝气就不能向上滋养眼睛。肝受血滋养才能发挥视觉功能，现在邪气滞留于肝脏，导致阴血涩滞不畅，到了傍晚症状加重，因此一到夜晚眼睛昏花，不能看见物体，世人称之为雀目。
治疗雀目的防风煮肝散方：
防风（去叉）、黄连（去须）、谷精草、黄芩（去黑心）、甘草（锉碎并炙烤）、天南星（炮制），以上各一两；蛤粉半钱。
以上七味药，捣碎过筛制成细散。每次服用一钱匕，取羊子肝一片，用铜刀或竹刀剖开，将药粉渗入其中，用麻线缠绕固定，放入一大盏粟米饭中。在银石锅内煮熟至温热，临睡前嚼服。切记不可接触铁器。病情严重的，不过再服一次，必定见效。
治疗雀目的郁金散方：
郁金三两、新牛胆一枚、猪胆二枚、蛤粉（研细）三两、大黄（锉碎炒制）半两、黄连（去须）半两、雄黄（研细）一分。
以上七味药，将五味药（注：此处原文指除胆汁外的固体药材）制成细散，并与猪胆混合拌匀，装入牛胆中填满，阴干后制成细散。每次成人服用一钱匕，小儿服用半钱匕，饭后用新汲水调服。赤眼、气眼、疳眼也能治疗。
治疗雀目日久不愈的铅丹丸方：
铅丹半两、黄芩（去黑心）一两、蛤粉一两半。
以上三味药，捣碎研磨成细末。另外熔化黄蜡一两，加入药末中搅拌均匀，再加入稀薄的面糊制成丸药，大小如弹子。将猪肝切成薄片，包裹药丸，用米泔水煮至肝熟为度，烂嚼后用煮肝的米泔汤送下，空腹及饭前服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗雀目，以及内外障眼、风毒青盲、暴赤眼等症的空青散方：
羊梅青（优质的用水清洗后控干研细）、胡黄连（用水清洗后研成细末，各一分）、槐牙（初生如雀舌时，在日出前不要食用或说话采摘，数量不限，放入一根青竹筒内，不要让鸡狗等看见，悬挂在天月德方位上，待干燥后研成粉末，一钱半）。
以上三味药，共同研磨均匀细腻如粉，加入龙脑约一字许，再次研磨均匀，密封保存。每晚睡觉时，先用温水漱口，仰面躺卧，用苇管吹入药物一字许到两个鼻孔中，只需像平常一样呼吸，就会自然睡着，眼中感觉凉冷为佳。隔一夜使用一次，效果极佳。
治疗雀目，不论病程长短，只要是黄昏时分看不见物体的，蛤粉丸方：
蛤粉（优质的研至极细）、黄蜡（等量）。
以上两味药，先熔化蜡，加入蛤粉拌和，制成梧桐子大小的丸药。取猪子肝一片，用筷子扎出孔子大小的孔，将药丸塞入孔中，用麻线缠绕系牢四周，用清水煮熟，取出切成薄片，趁热吃下，同时用煮药的汤熏蒸眼睛，没有任何禁忌。
治疗雀目，近距离也看不见物体的煮肝散方：
紫芥菜子（真品），炒至黑色，碾成细散。用一只羊肝，分为八次服用。每次取药散三钱，涂抹在肝上，外面包裹荷叶，裹煮至熟，放冷后服用，用煮肝的汤送下。不过一只羊肝的量，就能彻底根治，临睡前服用。
治疗肝虚雀目，夜间看不见物体的如圣散方：
蛤粉、青葙子、石决明（各半两）。
以上三味药制成细散，用牛肝二两，剖开渗入药散三钱匕，用麻线扎紧。用米泔水煮至熟透。细细咀嚼后用米饮送下，临睡前服用，醒来时就能看见物体。如果使用鸡肝或兔肝煮药也可以。
治疗雀目的大黄车前子汤方：
大黄（煨制锉碎）、车前子、玄参、黄芩（去黑心）、细辛（去苗叶）、茺蔚子（各二两）。
以上六味药，粗捣筛过。每次服用二钱匕，加水一盏，黑豆三七粒，煎至五分，去渣，空腹及临睡前各服一次。
治疗雀目的泻肝汤方：
黄芩（去黑心）、防风（去叉，各二两）、芍药、桔梗（去芦头炒制）、大黄（湿纸包裹煨制锉碎，各一两）。
以上五味药，粗捣筛过。每次服用一钱匕，加水一盏，煎至五分，去渣后加入芒硝半钱匕，再次煎沸，饭后温服。
治疗雀目的补肝汤方：
人参、白茯苓（去黑皮）、车前子、黄芩（去黑心）、大黄（湿纸包裹煨制，各一两）、五味子、防风（去叉，各一两）、玄参（一两半）。
以上八味药，粗捣筛过。每次服用二钱匕，加水一盏，煎至六分，去渣，饭后温服。
治疗雀目的还睛丸方：
人参、细辛（去苗叶）、白茯苓（去黑皮）、木香、知母（焙干）、川芎（各一两）、石决明、茺蔚子（各二两）。
以上八味药，捣碎过筛制成细末，炼蜜调和制成丸药，大小如梧桐子。空腹时用茶清送服十丸。
治疗眼目白天视力精明，夜晚昏暗，视物不见，称为雀目的石斛散方：
石斛（去根）、仙灵脾（锉碎，各一两）、苍术（米泔浸泡切片焙干）半两。
以上三味药，捣碎过筛制成散剂。每次服用三钱匕，空腹用米饮调服，每日两次。
治疗雀目。白天视力精明，夜晚昏暗的石决明丸方：
石决明（刮洗）、车前子、细辛（去苗叶）、人参、白茯苓（去黑皮）、柏子仁（炒后另捣）、防风（去叉，各一两）、山芋、茺蔚子（各二两）。
以上九味药，除柏子仁外，其余均细锉焙干，捣碎过筛成末拌匀，炼蜜调和制成丸药，大小如梧桐子。每次服用二十丸，饭后温水送下，临睡前再服。可加至三十丸。
Discourse states: Clear vision during the day but inability to see at night is called "Sparrow Eye" (Que Mu). It means being unable to see objects at night, like a sparrow. Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) circulates in the Yang meridians during the day and in the Yin meridians at night. If Yin Blood is invaded by pathogenic factors, Liver Qi cannot ascend to nourish the eyes. The Liver relies on blood to enable vision. Now, with pathogens stagnating in the Liver, Yin Blood becomes sluggish and obstructed. Symptoms worsen towards evening; thus, at night, the eyes become dim and unable to see objects. This condition is commonly known as Sparrow Eye.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Fangfeng Zhu Gan San (Windproof Boiled Liver Powder)
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove cross-ends), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove stamens), Gujingcao (Euphrasiae Herba), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and roasted), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, processed), each 1 liang; Gafen (Concha Margaritiferae, half qian).
The above seven ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a fine powder. Each dose is one qian bi (approx. 3-5g). Take one slice of sheep fetal liver, slice it open with a copper or bamboo knife, infiltrate the medicine inside, tie it securely with hemp thread, and place it in a large cup of millet rice. Cook until warm in a silver-stone pot. Chew and swallow before bed. Strictly avoid contact with iron vessels. For severe cases, no more than two doses are needed for certain efficacy.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Yujin San (Curcuma Powder)
Yujin (Curcumae Radix, 3 liang), Xin Niudan (New Cattle Gallbladder, 1 unit), Zhudan (Pig Gallbladder, 2 units), Gafen (Concha Margaritiferae, ground, 3 liang), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and fried, half liang), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove stamens, half liang), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground, 1 fen).
The above seven ingredients: Process five solid ingredients into a fine powder, mix with pig gallbladder, fill into the cattle gallbladder, dry in shade, and grind into a fine powder. Adult dose: one qian bi; Child dose: half qian bi. Take after meals with fresh water drawn newly. Also treats red eye, qi eye, and gan eye.
Formula for Long-standing Sparrow Eye Not Healing: Qiandan Wan (Lead Oxide Pill)
Qiandan (Lithargyri, half liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart, 1 liang), Gafen (Concha Margaritiferae, 1.5 liang).
The above three ingredients are crushed and ground into fine powder. Melt 1 liang of Huangla (Beeswax), mix evenly with the medicine, add thin flour paste, and form pills the size of a bullet. Slice pig liver thinly, wrap the pill in the liver slice, boil in Mi Jiang Tang (Rice Washing Water) until the liver is cooked. Chew thoroughly and swallow with the rice washing water used for boiling. Take on an empty stomach and before meals, and again before sleep.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye, Internal and External Obstruction Eyes, Wind-Toxicity Qing Mang (Blindness due to Wind), Acute Red Eye, etc.: Kongqing San (Azurite Powder)
Yangmeiqing (Good quality Azurite, washed with water, drained, and ground), Huhuanglian (Picrorhizae Rhizoma, washed with water and ground into fine powder, each 1 fen), Huaiya (Sophorae Tonkinensis Bud, picked when emerging like sparrow tongues before sunrise without eating or speaking, quantity unlimited, placed in a green bamboo tube, kept away from chickens and dogs, hung under Tian Yue De auspicious stars until dry, then ground into powder, 1.5 qian).
The above three ingredients are ground together until fine as powder. Add about one zi (approx. 0.5-1g) of Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum), grind evenly, and store tightly sealed. Every night before sleep, rinse mouth with warm water, lie supine, use a reed tube to blow one zi of medicine into both nostrils. Breathe normally and fall asleep naturally. A cool sensation in the eyes is ideal. Use once every other night; extremely effective.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye, Regardless of Duration, Where Objects Cannot Be Seen at Dusk: Gafen Wan (Concha Margaritiferae Pill)
Gafen (Concha Margaritiferae, high quality, ground extremely fine), Huangla (Beeswax, equal proportion).
The above two ingredients: First melt the wax, mix with Gafen, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take one slice of pig fetal liver, poke a hole the size of a Confucius character with chopsticks, insert the pill into the hole, tie around with hemp thread, boil in clear water until cooked. Remove, slice thinly, and eat while hot. Steam eyes with the soup used for boiling the medicine. No dietary restrictions apply.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye, Inability to See at Close Range: Zhu Gan San (Boiled Liver Powder)
Zijieshai Zi (Brassica Juncea Seed, authentic), stir-fry until black, grind into fine powder. Use one whole sheep liver, divided into eight doses. For each dose, take three qian of powder, knead onto the liver, wrap in lotus leaf, and boil until cooked. Take when cool, swallowing with the liver-boiling water. One whole liver is sufficient to cure the root cause permanently. Take before sleep.
Formula for Treating Liver Deficiency Sparrow Eye, Inability to See at Night: Rusheng San (Like-Sage Powder)
Gafen (Concha Margaritiferae), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha), each half liang.
The above three ingredients are made into a fine powder. Take 2 liang of ox liver, slice open, infiltrate three qian bi of medicine, tie with hemp thread. Boil in Mi Jiang Tang (Rice Washing Water) until cooked. Chew finely and swallow with Mi Yin (Rice Drink). Take before sleep; vision returns upon waking. Chicken or rabbit liver can be used instead.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Dahuang Cheqianzi Tang (Rhubarb and Plantago Seed Decoction)
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, baked and sliced), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), each 2 liang.
The above six ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is two qian bi. Add one cup of water and 37 black soybeans. Decoct until reduced to half a cup. Strain. Take one dose on an empty stomach and one before sleep.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Xie Gan Tang (Draining Liver Decoction)
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove cross-ends), each 2 liang; Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix); Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, remove radicle and fried); Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, wrapped in wet paper, baked, and sliced), each 1 liang.
The above five ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is one qian bi. Add one cup of water. Decoct until reduced to half a cup. Strain, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, half qian bi), boil again until bubbling. Take warm after meals.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Bu Gan Tang (Tonifying Liver Decoction)
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Fuling (Poria, remove black skin), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, wrapped in wet paper and baked), each 1 liang; Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove cross-ends), each 1 liang; Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1.5 liang).
The above eight ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is two qian bi. Add one cup of water. Decoct until reduced to 60%. Strain. Take warm after meals.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye: Huan Jing Wan (Restoring Vision Pill)
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Bai Fuling (Poria, remove black skin), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, baked), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), each 1 liang; Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), each 2 liang.
The above eight ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take ten pills with tea water on an empty stomach.
Formula for Treating Eyes with Clear Day Vision but Dim Night Vision, Inability to See Objects at Night, Named Sparrow Eye: Shihu San (Dendrobium Powder)
Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, remove roots), Xianlingpi (Epimedii Folium, sliced), each 1 liang; Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice water, sliced, and baked), half liang.
The above three ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Each dose is three qian bi. Take on an empty stomach mixed with rice drink, twice daily.
Formula for Treating Sparrow Eye. Day Vision Clear, Night Vision Dim: Shijueming Wan (Haliotidis Concha Pill)
Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha, scraped and washed), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Fuling (Poria, remove black skin), Baiziren (Platycladi Semen, fried and separately pounded), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove cross-ends), each 1 liang; Shanyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), each 2 liang.
The above nine ingredients: Except for Baiziren, all are finely sliced, baked dry, crushed, sifted into powder, and mixed evenly. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take twenty pills with warm water after meals, and another dose before sleep. Dosage may increase to thirty pills.
