论曰足少阴血气盛，则发润泽而黑，足太阳血气盛，则须润泽而黑，二经血气虚乏，则
须发变为黄白，然则还其润泽，复其绀黑，虽有传染之法，曾不如益血补气，为常服剂，盖
血气调适，则滋泽外彰，其视敷染之功远矣。
治髭发黄白，可变令黑。菟丝子丸方
菟丝子（酒浸三日别捣） 地骨皮（各三两） 枳壳（去瓤麸炒八两） 生牛膝（捣绞
取汁半
升） 生地黄（捣绞取汁半升）
上五味。将前三味，捣罗为末，以牛膝地黄汁，和作饼子曝干，再捣罗，炼蜜丸如梧桐
子大，每服十五丸，早食后温酒下，如心中热米饮下。
治髭发白能变令黑。人参丸方
人参（五两） 熟干地黄（焙） 天门冬（去心焙） 白茯苓（去黑皮各十两） 胡麻
仁（汤浸
去皮炒五升）
上五味。捣罗为末，炼蜜丸如梧桐子大，每服十丸，早食后温酒下。
治髭发白可变令黑。胡麻丸方
胡麻仁（炒） 杏仁（去皮尖双仁炒研各三两） 黑豆黄（二两） 桂（去粗皮一两） 生
地黄
（捣绞取汁一升）
上五味。先将地黄汁，入银锅中，煎三两沸，次入杏仁膏，余药并捣罗为末，投入同煎
令稠，丸如梧桐子大，每服十丸，早食后温酒下，临卧再服。
治髭发白可以变黑。干漆丸方
干漆（炒令烟尽） 柏子仁（微炒） 生干地黄（焙） 熟干地黄（焙各一两）
上四味。捣罗为末，研糯米饭和，捣三五百杵，涂酥丸如梧桐子大，每服二十丸，空心
温酒下。
治髭发白可还黑色。蜀椒丸方
蜀椒（去目并闭口者） 杏仁（去皮尖双仁各八两） 熟干地黄（一斤）
上三味。先锉地黄入净瓷器中，以酒一升浸一宿取出，与杏仁同研如膏，次用炭火烧地
令赤，以酽醋泼，乘热将椒置其上，以盆复之，四面泥涂，令勿透风，候冷取出，捣罗为末
，合和前膏，入糯米饭一升，同捣三百杵，丸如梧桐子大，每服三十丸，空心温酒下。
治人年四十髭发俱白还黑。地黄丸方
生地黄（肥者锉五斤） 五加皮（锉） 牛膝（酒浸焙各五两）
上三味。先将地黄入净瓶中，以酒五升浸一宿，取出曝干，入甑中，九蒸九曝后，同后
二味，捣罗为末，炼蜜丸如梧桐子大，每服二十丸，空心温酒下。
治须发黄白，令还黑色。酸榴浆方
酸石榴
上五月内，于东南枝上，拣平坐不侧而大者一枚，于顶上箸札眼子，深一寸余，用水银
半两，灌于眼子内，不得封闭，从风日雨露，至十月叶落尽时取下，壳内尽成水，每用时，
以鱼胞裹指头，点药捻之。
治须发黄白。一宿乌方
定粉 锻石（各一两） 铅丹（半两） 腻粉（五钱匕）
上四味研极细，临卧以酒浆调涂，仍以荷叶包，平旦温浆水洗。
治须黄白，揩牙。槐枝散方
槐枝（如箸大者） 青盐 胡麻子仁（炒黑色） 生干地黄（各一两） 皂荚（不 者
去皮子

上五味锉碎，入瓷瓶中，用瓦片盖，纸箸泥固济，仍盖上留一穴，如钱眼大，候干，以
文武火烧烟尽，放冷为末，每旦揩牙毕，余药涂须上，少顷洗之。
治须发黄白，变令黑色。倒行油方
上取银三两，作小合子，盛汞一两，以干水蛭七枚为末，同入合内，用蚯蚓泥固济，约
半指浓，深埋在马粪中，四十九日取出，已化为黑油矣，用鱼胞裹指头，点药捻之。
治须黄白揩牙。栝蒌散方
上取栝蒌实一枚，开顶作盖子，取出瓤并子，用青盐一两细研，杏仁去皮尖三七粒，同
栝蒌瓤并子，纳入栝蒌内，却将顶盖盖了，麻线系定，盐泥固济，炭火 烟尽，去泥取药为
末，早夜揩牙。
论述说：足少阴经气血充盛，头发就润泽而黑；足太阳经气血充盛，胡须就润泽而黑。这两条经脉的气血虚乏，胡须和头发就会变成黄色或白色。然而，想要恢复其润泽，重现青黑色，虽然有外染的方法，但都不如通过补益血液、补充气机，制成常服的药物制剂。因为气血调和适宜，滋润光泽自然显现于外，这比起外用涂抹染色的功效要远为优越。
治疗胡须头发变黄变白，可以使其变为黑色的菟丝子丸方：
菟丝子（用酒浸泡三天，另捣碎）三两，地骨皮三两，枳壳（去掉瓤，麸皮炒制）八两，生牛膝（捣碎绞取汁液半升），生地黄（捣碎绞取汁液半升）。
以上五味药。将前三味药捣碎过筛成粉末，用牛膝汁和生地黄汁调和，做成饼状，晒干后再捣碎过筛，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用十五丸，早饭后用温酒送服，如果心中感觉发热，则用米汤送服。
治疗胡须头发变白能使其变为黑色的人参丸方：
人参五两，熟干地黄（焙干），天门冬（去心焙干），白茯苓（去掉黑皮）各十两，胡麻仁（热水浸泡去皮炒制）五升。
以上五味药。捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用十丸，早饭后用温酒送服。
治疗胡须头发变白可使其变为黑色的胡麻丸方：
胡麻仁（炒制），杏仁（去皮尖，双仁者炒后研碎）各三两，黑豆黄二两，桂枝（去掉粗皮）一两，生地黄（捣碎绞取汁液一升）。
以上五味药。先将生地黄汁放入银锅中，煎煮三沸，然后加入杏仁膏，其余药物都捣碎过筛成粉末，投入锅中同煎至浓稠，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用十丸，早饭后用温酒送服，临睡前再服一次。
治疗胡须头发变白可以变为黑色的干漆丸方：
干漆（炒至烟尽），柏子仁（微炒），生干地黄（焙干），熟干地黄（焙干）各一两。
以上四味药。捣碎过筛成粉末，用糯米饭研磨调和，捣三四百到五六百下，涂酥油制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用二十丸，空腹时用温酒送服。
治疗胡须头发变白可恢复黑色的蜀椒丸方：
蜀椒（去掉目和闭口者），杏仁（去皮尖，双仁者）各八两，熟干地黄一斤。
以上三味药。先将地黄切碎放入干净的瓷器中，用酒一升浸泡一夜取出，与杏仁一起研磨成膏状。然后用炭火加热地面使其发红，泼上浓醋，趁热将蜀椒放在上面，用盆覆盖，四周用泥密封，防止漏风，待冷却后取出，捣碎过筛成粉末，与前制的膏混合，加入一升糯米饭，共同捣三百下，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用三十丸，空腹时用温酒送服。
治疗人年四十岁胡须头发全白可恢复黑色的人地黄丸方：
生地黄（肥厚的切碎）五斤，五加皮（切碎），牛膝（酒浸焙干）各五两。
以上三味药。先将地黄放入干净的瓶中，用酒五升浸泡一夜，取出晒干，放入甑中，经过九蒸九晒后，与后两味药一起捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用二十丸，空腹时用温酒送服。
治疗胡须头发变黄变白，令其恢复黑色的酸石榴浆方：
酸石榴。
在五月内，选取东南方向枝条上平坐不倾斜且个头大的一个，在其顶部扎一个洞，深约一寸多，用水银半两灌入洞内，不要封闭，经受风吹日晒雨露，直到十月树叶落尽时取下，壳内全部变成水状液体。每次使用时，用鱼胞包裹手指头，蘸取药液捻搓胡须。
治疗胡须头发变黄变白。一夜间变黑的方子：
定粉一两，锻石一两，铅丹半两，腻粉五钱匕。
以上四味药研成极细粉末，临睡前用酒浆调匀涂抹，仍用荷叶包裹，第二天清晨用温浆水清洗。
治疗胡须黄白，刷牙用的槐枝散方：
槐枝（粗细如筷子），青盐，胡麻子仁（炒至黑色），生干地黄各一两，皂荚（不弯曲的）两根（去皮去子）。
以上五味药切碎，放入瓷瓶中，用瓦片盖住，用纸筋泥密封，盖上留一个铜钱眼大小的孔，待干燥后，用文火武火交替烧至烟尽，放冷后研成粉末。每天早晨刷完牙后，将剩余的药粉涂在胡须上，一会儿后洗掉。
治疗胡须头发变黄变白，使其变为黑色的倒行油方：
取银三两，做成小盒子，盛放水银一两，将七条干水蛭研成粉末，一同放入盒内，用蚯蚓泥密封，厚度约半指，深深埋在马粪中，四十九天后取出，已经化为黑油了。用鱼胞包裹手指头，蘸取药液捻搓。
治疗胡须黄白刷牙用的栝蒌散方：
取栝蒌实一枚，打开顶部作为盖子，取出瓤和种子，用青盐一两细细研磨，杏仁去皮尖三七粒，连同栝蒌的瓤和种子一起纳入栝蒌内，再将顶盖盖上，用麻线系紧，用盐泥密封，炭火烧至烟尽，去掉泥后取药研成粉末，早晚刷牙使用。
Commentary states: When the Qi and Blood of the Foot-Shaoyin Meridian are abundant, hair is lustrous and black; when the Qi and Blood of the Foot-Taiyang Meridian are abundant, beard is lustrous and black. If the Qi and Blood of these two meridians are deficient, the beard and hair will turn yellow or white. However, to restore their luster and return them to a dark hue, although external dyeing methods exist, they are inferior to tonifying blood and replenishing Qi by preparing a formula for daily consumption. For when Qi and Blood are harmonious and balanced, nourishment and luster naturally manifest externally, which far surpasses the efficacy of topical application and dyeing.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard and hair, capable of turning them black: Tusizi Wan (Cuscuta Seed Pill)
Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, 菟丝子), soaked in wine for three days and pounded separately, 3 liang; Digupi (Lycii Cortex, 地骨皮), 3 liang; Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, 枳壳), de-seeded and stir-fried with bran, 8 liang; Sheng Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 生牛膝), pounded and juiced, half sheng; Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄), pounded and juiced, half sheng.
The above five ingredients. Pound the first three ingredients into powder. Mix with the juices of Niuxi and Dihuang to form cakes, dry them in the sun, then pound and sieve again. Form pills with refined honey, sized like wutong seeds. Take 15 pills each time, washed down with warm wine after morning meal. If there is heat in the heart, wash down with rice water.
Formula for treating white beard and hair, capable of turning them black: Renshen Wan (Ginseng Pill)
Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参), 5 liang; Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 熟干地黄); Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix, 天门冬), de-heartened and dried; Baifuling (Poria, 白茯苓), de-blackened skin, each 10 liang; Humaren (Sesami Semen Nigrum, 胡麻仁), soaked in hot water, de-skinned and stir-fried, 5 sheng.
The above five ingredients. Pound and sieve into powder. Form pills with refined honey, sized like wutong seeds. Take 10 pills each time, washed down with warm wine after morning meal.
Formula for treating white beard and hair, capable of turning them black: Humaren Wan (Sesame Seed Pill)
Humaren (Sesami Semen Nigrum, 胡麻仁), stir-fried; Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 杏仁), de-skin and de-pip, double-kernel ones stir-fried and pounded, each 3 liang; Heidouhuang (Black Soybean, 黑豆黄), 2 liang; Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 桂), de-bark, 1 liang; Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄), pounded and juiced, 1 sheng.
The above five ingredients. First, boil the Sheng Dihuang juice in a silver pot for three boils. Then add Xingren paste. Pound the remaining medicines into powder and add to the pot, simmer until thick. Form pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 10 pills each time, washed down with warm wine after morning meal, and take another dose before going to bed.
Formula for treating white beard and hair, capable of turning them black: Ganqi Wan (Dried Lacquer Pill)
Ganqi (Laccae Resina, 干漆), stir-fried until smoke ceases; Baiziren (Platycladi Semen, 柏子仁), slightly stir-fried; Sheng Gan Dihuang (Dried Rehmanniae Radix, 生干地黄), dried; Shu Gan Dihuang (Prepared Dried Rehmanniae Radix, 熟干地黄), dried, each 1 liang.
The above four ingredients. Pound and sieve into powder. Grind glutinous rice paste and mix, pounding 300-500 times. Coat with butter and form pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 20 pills each time on an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine.
Formula for treating white beard and hair, capable of restoring black color: Shujiao Wan (Sichuan Pepper Pill)
Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 蜀椒), remove eyes and closed-mouth ones; Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 杏仁), de-skin and de-pip, double-kernel ones, each 8 liang; Shu Gan Dihuang (Prepared Dried Rehmanniae Radix, 熟干地黄), 1 jin.
The above three ingredients. First, cut the Dihuang and place it in a clean porcelain vessel. Soak in 1 sheng of wine overnight, then take out. Grind together with Xingren into a paste. Heat the ground with charcoal fire until red, splash with strong vinegar. While hot, place Shujiao on top, cover with a basin, seal all sides with mud to prevent wind leakage. Wait until cool, take out, pound and sieve into powder. Mix with the previous paste, add 1 sheng of glutinous rice paste, pound 300 times. Form pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 30 pills each time on an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine.
Formula for treating people aged forty whose beard and hair are all white, capable of restoring black color: Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill)
Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄), plump ones cut up, 5 jin; Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex, 五加皮), cut up; Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 牛膝), soaked in wine and dried, each 5 liang.
The above three ingredients. First, put Dihuang in a clean bottle, soak in 5 sheng of wine overnight. Take out and dry in the sun. Place in a steamer, undergo nine steamings and nine dryings. Then grind together with the other two ingredients into powder. Form pills with refined honey, sized like wutong seeds. Take 20 pills each time on an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard and hair, capable of restoring black color: Suanliu Jiang (Sour Pomegranate Juice)
Suan Shiliu (Pomeli Granati Fructus, 酸石榴).
In May, select one large fruit from a flat-growing, non-tilting branch on the southeast side. Poke a hole about one cun deep at the top. Pour half a liang of Yinqin (Mercurius, 水银) into the hole without sealing it. Expose to wind, sun, dew, and rain. Remove when leaves fall completely in October. The inside of the shell will have turned into liquid. When using, wrap a finger tip with yubao (fish bladder, 鱼胞), dip in the medicine, and rub the beard.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard and hair, turning black overnight: Yixiu Wu Fang
Dingfen (Cerussa, 定粉), 1 liang; Duanshi (Calamina, 锻石), 1 liang; Qiandan (Minii Rubrum, 铅丹), half a liang; Nifen (Calomelas, 腻粉), 5 qianbi.
The above four ingredients. Pound into extremely fine powder. Before going to bed, mix with wine and water paste and apply. Wrap with lotus leaf. Wash off with warm water paste at dawn.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard, for brushing teeth: Huaizhi San (Locust Branch Powder)
Huaizhi (Morbella Ramulus, 槐枝), size of chopsticks; Qingyan (Halitum, 青盐); Humarenzi Ren (Sesami Semen Nigrum, 胡麻子仁), stir-fried until black; Sheng Gan Dihuang (Dried Rehmanniae Radix, 生干地黄), each 1 liang; Zaojia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, 皂荚), straight ones, de-skin and de-seed, 2 ting.
The above five ingredients. Cut into pieces, put in a porcelain bottle. Cover with a tile, seal with paper and mud paste. Leave a hole the size of a coin on the lid. Dry, then burn with alternating mild and strong fire until smoke ceases. Cool and pound into powder. After brushing teeth every morning, apply the remaining powder to the beard, wash off after a short while.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard and hair, turning them black: Daoxing You (Reverse-Moving Oil)
Take 3 liang of silver, make a small box. Put 1 liang of Hong (Mercurius, 汞) inside. Pound 7 dried Shizhi (Hirudo, 水蛭) into powder. Add to the box. Seal with Diqiu ni (Earthworm soil, 蚯蚓泥), thickness about half a finger. Bury deeply in horse manure for 49 days. Take out; it has transformed into black oil. Wrap a finger tip with yubao (fish bladder, 鱼胞), dip in the medicine, and rub.
Formula for treating yellow or white beard, for brushing teeth: Gualou San (Trichosanthes Fruit Powder)
Take one Gualou Shi (Trichosanthis Fructus, 栝蒌实), open the top as a lid. Remove pulp and seeds. Pound 1 liang of Qingyan (Halitum, 青盐) finely. Take 3-7 Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 杏仁), de-skin and de-pip. Put them together with the Gualou pulp and seeds back into the Gualou. Replace the lid, tie firmly with hemp thread, seal with salt mud. Burn with charcoal fire until smoke ceases. Remove mud, take the medicine, pound into powder. Use for brushing teeth morning and night.
