【金屑】
味辛，性平，有毒。主要功效是镇摄精神，坚固骨髓，通利五脏，祛除邪毒之气。《药性论》记载：金箔也主治小儿因受惊而损伤五脏，风痫（由风邪引起的癫痫）导致的神志丧失，能镇心安神，安定魂魄。日华子说：性平，无毒。能镇心，补益五脏，增添骨髓，调和血脉。《青霞子》引用《金液还丹论》说：服用金末可以延年益寿，黄金又能破除寒气、祛除风邪。畏忌：水银。
【银箔】
味辛，性平，有毒。主要功效是安和五脏，安定心神，制止惊悸，祛除邪气，长期服用可使身体轻健、延年益寿。《药性论》记载：其作用如同君药。银箔的功效与之相同。主要功效是定志，去除惊痫，治疗小儿癫疾狂走之病。《子母秘录》记载：治疗孕妇突然出现的腰背疼痛如折断般剧烈，用银一两，加水三升，煎煮取二升药液饮用。《金液还丹论》记载：银能破除寒气、祛除风邪。
【朱砂】
性寒，无毒。主要功效是治疗热盛发狂，惊悸，发作癫痫，神志恍惚，夜间睡眠不安，胡言乱语，以及祛除邪气、鬼祟之邪。服用它能明目，镇心安神定志。对于小儿各种热证及丹毒，用水磨服下，疗效胜过紫雪（Zixue, 一种清热开窍的方剂）。陈脏器说：味辛。日华子说：性冷，微毒。畏忌：石亭脂（Stibnite, 天然硫化锑矿石）。治疗小儿冲恶热毒，烦闷，用水磨服下。又治疗中恶（突然感受秽浊疫疠之气）、虫毒，心热，煎煮烦躁，忧忘（忧郁健忘），虚弱劣败。禁忌：一切生血药物。
【二气砂（即汞硫化合物/红升丹类）】
味甘，性温，无毒。主要功效是治疗五脏百病，养神安魂魄，益气明目，通血脉，止除烦满，补益精神，杀灭精魅恶鬼之气。长期服用可通神明，不老，身体轻健，成仙，使人心灵手巧。又名二气砂，由水银一两、硫黄六铢组成，细细研磨，先炒制成青砂头，然后放入水火既济炉中炼制，抽丝状如束针纹者即为成就。厌恶：磁石。畏忌：咸水。
【轻粉】
味辛，性冷，无毒。畏忌：磁石、石黄。功效是通大肠，治疗小儿疳积（Gan syndrome, 小儿慢性营养不良综合征）并瘰疬（Luoli, 颈部淋巴结结核），杀灭疮疥癣虫及鼻部酒渣（Rosacea, 酒糟鼻），治疗风疮瘙痒。又名汞粉、轻粉、峭粉。禁忌：一切血分药物。
[Gold Foil]
Pungent in flavor, neutral in nature, toxic. Primarily governs calming the spirit and mind, strengthening the bone marrow, unblocking and benefiting the five zang organs, and eliminating pathogenic evil qi. *Yao Xing Lun* states: Gold foil also treats children's internal injury to the five zang organs due to fright, wind epilepsy with loss of will, calms the heart, and stabilizes the hun and po spirits. Ri Hua Zi states: Neutral in nature, non-toxic. Calms the heart, benefits the five zang organs, enriches the marrow, and regulates the blood vessels. *Qing Xia Zi* cites *Jin Ye Huan Dan Lun*: Ingesting gold powder increases longevity; gold also breaks coldness and eliminates wind. Aversion: Mercury (Shuiyin).
[Silver Foil]
Pungent in flavor, neutral in nature, toxic. Primarily governs harmonizing the five zang organs, stabilizing the heart-mind, arresting palpitations and fright, eliminating pathogenic factors, and with long-term use, lightening the body and prolonging life. *Yao Xing Lun* states: It acts as a sovereign drug. Silver foil has similar effects. Primarily governs stabilizing intention, removing fright and epilepsy, treating pediatric mania and running wild. *Zi Mu Mi Lu* states: Treats sudden severe lower back pain resembling fracture during pregnancy; use one liang of silver, three sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng for drinking. *Jin Ye Huan Dan Lun* states: Silver breaks coldness and eliminates wind.
[Cinnabar]
Cold in nature, non-toxic. Primarily governs treating heat-induced mania, palpitations and fright, onset of epilepsy, mental confusion, restless sleep at night, delirious speech, eliminating pathogenic factors and malevolent influences. Ingestion brightens the eyes, calms the heart, stabilizes the mind and intention. For various pediatric heat syndromes and erysipelas, administered by grinding with water, its efficacy surpasses that of Zixue (Purple Snow Decoction). Chen Zangqi states: Pungent in flavor. Ri Hua Zi states: Cold in nature, slightly toxic. Aversion: Stibnite (Shitingzhi). Treats pediatric shock from evil heat toxins, irritability, administered by grinding with water. Also treats sudden contraction of miasma, insect venom, heart heat, restlessness from decoction, melancholy and forgetfulness, and physical debility. Contraindication: All blood-generating herbs.
[Two-Qi Cinnabar / Vermilion Paste]
Sweet in flavor, warm in nature, non-toxic. Primarily governs treating diseases of the five zang organs and hundred ailments, nourishing the spirit and stabilizing the hun and po spirits, supplementing qi and brightening the eyes, unblocking the blood vessels, relieving fullness and irritability, benefiting the spirit, and killing demonic essences and evil ghostly qi. With long-term use, it connects with the divine, prevents aging, lightens the body, leads to immortality, and makes the mind agile. Also known as Two-Qi Cinnabar, composed of one liang of Mercury (Shuiyin) and six zhu of Sulfur, finely ground, first stir-fried into green sand head, then placed in a furnace where fire and water meet perfectly, drawn out like bundled needle threads indicates completion. Dislike: Magnetite (Cishi). Aversion: Saline water.
[Calomel / Light Powder]
Pungent in flavor, cold in nature, non-toxic. Aversion: Magnetite (Cishi), Yellow Antimony (Shihuang). Unblocks the large intestine, treats pediatric gan syndrome and scrofula (Luoli), kills parasites causing sores, tinea, and rosacea on the nose, and treats wind-induced skin itching. Also known as Mercury Powder, Light Powder, Qiao Powder. Contraindication: All blood-invigorating or blood-related substances.
