A prescription for treating lower gastrointestinal bleeding resembling chicken liver, accompanied by severe abdominal colic that is unbearable.
Qian Gen (Radix Rubiae Cordifoliae), Sheng Ma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Xi Jiao (Cornu Rhinocerotis) [each 3 liang], Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis), Huang Bo (Cortex Phellodendri), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae) [each 2 liang], Di Yu (Radix Sanguisorbae), Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), He Ye (Folium Nelumbinis) [each 4 liang].
The above eight herbs are coarsely crushed, boiled in nine sheng of water until reduced to two and a half sheng, divided into three doses. This formula is used for dysentery with bloody stool caused by Gu poison (parasitic infection/toxin).
Another formula: Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis), Xi Jiao (Cornu Rhinocerotis) [in equal parts].
The above two herbs are ground into powder, taken orally with wine, one Fang Cun Bi (a square-inch measure) per dose, three times daily. If the patient cannot swallow voluntarily, the mouth may be pried open for administration. Upon entering the stomach, there may be a sensation of irritability, which will subside spontaneously after a short while, followed by the expulsion of blood. Discontinue medication after seven days; pig spleen may be consumed for self-nourishment. This is applicable for treating Gu poison-induced hemorrhage resembling chicken liver, persisting day and night to the point of near death.
A prescription for treating intestinal Gu, characterized by initial passage of red blood followed by yellow-white mucus, chronic and unhealed for years:
Niu Xi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae) 1 liang, crushed and cut, soaked overnight in one sheng of clear, high-quality wine. Take on an empty stomach at dawn; a second dose results in cure.
A formula for treating myriad diseases involving Gu poison, wind pathogens, cold, and heat.
Wu Tou (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Xiong Qiong (Radix Chuanxiong), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi), Li Lu (Rhizoma Veratri), Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) [each 4 liang], Bai Lian (Bulbus Belamcandae), Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis), Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Qian Hu (Radix Peucedani), Mai Men Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis), Bai Zi Ren (Semen Platycladi) [each 6 liang].
The above thirteen herbs are coarsely crushed. Using ten jin of Qu (fermented starter) and one hu of Shu Mi (glutinous millet), prepare according to the method of brewing wine. Place the herbs in a silk bag and sink it to the bottom of a jar. After the wine is ready, remove the dregs, retrieve the herb residue, place it in a blue cloth bag, and sink it to the bottom of the wine. Seal with mud. Ferment for seven days in autumn, ten days in winter, and five days in summer. Take one ge (a small liquid measure) on an empty stomach, three times daily, adjusting dosage based on efficacy. Because the herbs are toxic, they are wrapped in blue cloth. Do not interrupt the course of medication. After twenty days, major pathogenic factors will be expelled, appearing like lacquer. Complete recovery occurs within fifty days. For women around fifty years old suffering from chronic illness, abdominal masses, imbalance of cold and heat, frequent severe cramping pain around the navel, qi rebellion causing chest fullness, lasting over twenty years, taking the medicine for fourteen days (two periods of seven days) and expelling four to five sheng of material leads to cure. Another woman suffering from hemiplegia and infertility, after twenty days of medication, vomited black matter resembling a sword belt, about three chi long, resulting in immediate cure and childbirth within the same year. A woman who had suffered from epilepsy since childhood was cured after eighteen days of medication, expelling two and a half sheng of blood. An individual beaten with sticks, suffering from internal stasis of blood and bedridden for nine years, was cured after thirteen days of medication, expelling two to three sheng of black blood. An individual deaf for seventeen years was cured after thirty-five days of medication, expelling three sheng of blood from the nose and five sheng of yellow fluid from the ears. Ancient records state: In the second year of Xiping era, Chen Guang, Governor of Beidi, presented this. However, this formula primarily targets Gu poison. Anyone suffering from Gu poison will invariably recover upon taking it. Even extremely difficult cases resolve within fourteen days. All efficacies are comprehensively documented. Once, a woman in her forties suffered from hemiplegia, emaciation, inability to rise, prolonged bed rest, total deafness, and immobility of both hands for three years. I compounded this medicine for her, and she fully recovered as before. Another person suffering from Gu poison and pre-existing wind pathology, having ingested excessive Yin Yu Wine (Ilex Rotunda Wine) causing injury, vomited dozens of Gu parasites and was cured; how much more effective would this wine be in expelling Gu? Praising its extraordinary efficacy compared to other formulas, I have detailed it here.
