To treat *Shu Lou* (scrofula, a chronic lymphadenitis of the neck resembling a rat's burrow) initially occurring in the neck, without distinct head or tail, shaped like a small mouse, causing chills and fever with emaciation. This condition arises from ingesting food contaminated with "rat toxin" that was not expelled; its root lies in the Stomach.
Use Li Gu (Cat Bone) as the principal herb. Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) serves as the assistant herb. The formula is as follows:
Li Gu (Cat Bone), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Gui Xin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Ling Chi Jia (Pangolin Scales), Shan Gui Qiao (Turtle Shell), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) [equal parts].
The above eight herbs are processed, ground into fine powder, and taken orally with one *Fang Cun Bi* (approx. 2-3g) per dose, three times daily. Simultaneously, mix the powder with honey and apply it to the ulcer. There will be no case that does not heal. First, moxibustion should be applied to create an ulceration, followed by herbal application. If the ulcer is already formed, moxibustion is not required.
Use a mouse swallowed by a snake, burned to ash and powdered. Take one *Fang Cun Bi* per dose, twice daily. Do not exceed three doses. This method is highly effective but difficult to obtain. It can also be applied topically to the ulcer for better results.
Another prescription: Si Shu (Dead Mouse, one medium-sized), Luan Fa (Tangled Hair, size of a chicken egg, one piece).
The above two ingredients are decocted in Zhu Zhi (Pork Fat rendered in the twelfth lunar month) until fully melted into ointment. Divide into two portions. Apply one portion gradually to the ulcer, and take the other portion gradually with wine to achieve a cure. The offspring of the rat will emerge from the ulcer, which is a good sign.
For treating *Shu Lou* where the ulcer recurs after healing or persists unhealed with continuous discharge of pus and blood:
Use Zhu Zhi (Pork Fat) that has not been exposed to water. Cut Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia Root) fresh and place it in the fat, allowing the fat to submerge the Rehmannia. Decoct together for six or seven boils. First, wash the ulcer with Sang Hui Zhi (Ash Juice from Mulberry Branches) to remove foul discharge. Then, apply the Di Huang Gao (Rehmannia Ointment) topically, changing once daily.
To treat *Lou Gu Lou* (a type of scrofula starting on the neck and nape, presenting as a swelling): This condition arises from consuming melons and fruits containing toxins that were not expelled; its root lies in the Large Intestine. Use Ren Zi (Perilla Seed) as the principal herb. Jie Geng (Platycodon Root) serves as the assistant herb. The formula is as follows:
Ren Zi (Perilla Seed), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones) [each half liang], Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root, one liang), Shu Jiao (Sichuan Pepper, 100 grains), Gui Xin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Jie Geng (Platycodon Root), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), Fan Shi (Alum), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome - inferred from context "Du Huo Xiong" and count of ten herbs).
The above ten herbs are ground into powder. Combine with twenty Jujubes (Red Dates), pound them together, and mix with Cu Jiang (Vinegar Slurry) to form pills the size of soybeans. Take five pills with warm vinegar slurry, increasing up to ten pills.
To treat *Feng Lou* (scrofula caused by bee venom exposure): Initially appearing as scrofula nodules on the neck, three or four connected and ulcerating. This condition arises from drinking flowing water containing bee toxins that were not expelled; its root lies in the Spleen. Use Xiong Huang (Realgar) as the principal herb. Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root) serves as the assistant herb. The formula is as follows:
Xiong Huang (Realgar), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root) [each one liang], Feng Fang (Honeycomb, one piece), Hui Xiang (Fennel Fruit), Wu Zhu Yu (Evodia Fruit), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) [each half liang], Shu Jiao (Sichuan Pepper, 200 grains), Bie Jia (Turtle Carapace).
The above eight herbs are processed, ground into fine powder, and applied topically to the ulcer once daily for ten days.
