Symptoms include sudden sharp pain like thorns in the body, similar to insect stings, followed by fever. Severe cases extend to the waist, ribs, and chest. Treatment: Initially, grind Rhinoceros Horn (Rhinocerotis Cornu) and apply to stop toxicity; treat as for Fire Dan (erysipelas). In the sixth month of the Wude era, I contracted this illness. After five or six days of heart palpitations and malaise, other treatments failed. Someone advised drawing a Qu Sou shape on the ground, carefully digging up the soil from its abdomen with a knife, mixing with saliva to form mud, and applying. Two applications cured me. This reveals mutual resonance among all things, though the mechanism remains unknown.

Prescription for three types of "She Gong" (Archer Bug) venom:
Treatise states: In the Jiangnan region, there is a venomous insect called "She Gong," also known as "Duan Hu" or "Yu." It resembles a beetle (according to *Waitai Miyao*: black, shaped like a large flying insect), has no eyes but keen hearing, and possesses a long horn before its mouth like a crossbow, shooting air as arrows via water currents. Humans hear a "bi bi" sound in the water; when the water covers its mouth, it shoots venom. It fears geese, which eat it. Initial symptoms resemble Taiyang disease (Exterior Syndrome): chills, rigors, alternating fever, muscle stiffness, resembling "Zhong Shi" (possession/collapse) with locked jaw and inability to speak. Slight improvement in the morning, worsening in the afternoon/evening, with fever and confusion. Urgent treatment within three to four days is required; delay beyond seven days leads to death. Those shot by the bug's shadow do not immediately develop sores but experience chills and rigors. Non-locals often misdiagnose this as Taiyang disease, leading to erroneous treatment. Later sores resemble Qu Sou injuries or Bao Ju (carbuncle/furuncle). There are three types of She Gong sores: one is black like a bean with red surrounding skin, causing sharp pain like thorns upon contact with clothing; another persists and ulcerates over time, with evening fevers; the third resembles burns/blistering, which is most urgent and fatal within days. Head/face involvement is critical; above-waist involvement near the heart is often fatal; below-waist is slower but still fatal if untreated.
Prescription for She Gong-induced fever/chills or unusual localized sores:
Take a handful of Aristolochiae Radix (Gui Jiu) leaves, soak in vinegar, and crush thoroughly.
