If the testicles swell and a sudden hernia occurs, excess conditions manifest as an erect, elongated, and hot penis, while deficiency conditions manifest as sudden itching; treatment should target the Luo-connecting point of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian (i.e., Ligou, LR5).
The sinews of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian originate from the dorsum of the great toe, ascend to bind anterior to the medial malleolus, follow the leg upward to bind below the medial condyle of the tibia (Neifu), continue along the medial thigh to bind at the genital organs, and interconnect with various sinews.
The three months of spring primarily correspond to diseases of the Liver and Gallbladder involving the pulling of green sinews. The origin of these ailments stems from the Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and extends to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. At this time, the Qi of Shaoyang begins to emerge, while the Qi of Shaoyin begins to decline. Yin and Yang become stagnant in the Couli (pores and interstitial spaces), causing skin and hair disorders to arise simultaneously, and etiologies between the exterior and interior to develop. If movement originates from Shaoyang but reversely affects Shaoyin, the Qi becomes disordered, and the Zang-Fu organs are invaded by pathogenic factors, resulting in contradictory disease manifestations.
If the Fu organs are deficient, they are injured by Yin pathogens, leading to stiffness and tension in the waist and back, retraction of the legs preventing extension, a sensation that the lower back is about to break, and visual disturbances such as seeing spots or flowers in the eyes. If the Zang organs are excessive, they are damaged by Yang toxins, manifesting as coldness in the anterior region followed by heat in the posterior region, pulling of the bilateral sinuses of the neck preventing flexion and extension, stiffness of the neck and rigidity of the back, redness and yellowing of the eyes, and a feeling of bodily deviation or tilting when attempting to turn the body.
