http://www.37tcm.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=75&fpage=1

The child keeps clearing his throat constantly today.
Since waking up this morning, he has been continuously clearing his throat. When asked, he said his throat is slightly itchy. Yesterday, he just finished taking a prescription as follows, and is currently not taking any medication:
Xingren (Apricot Seed), 4g; Xixin (Asarum Root), 2g; Heifuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), 6g; Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit), 4g; Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), 4g; Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), 4g; Fuling (Poria), 4g; Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), 5g; Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), 5g; Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), 5g; Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), 8g; Baishao (White Peony Root), 3g.
Steep in boiling water and take orally. Take one bowl each at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods. Total 4 doses.
1. Sir, does this mean the child's illness is not yet fully cured, should we continue with this medication, or should we change the prescription?
2. Yesterday, I thought the asthma resulting from the child's pneumonia had healed, so I asked about some long-standing issues regarding the child. The prescription you provided was:
Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), 4g; Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), 4g; Xingren (Apricot Seed), 4g; Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit), 4g; Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), 5g; Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), 5g; Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), 5g; Dangshen (Codonopsis Root), 5g.
Steep in boiling water and take orally. Take one bowl each at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Total 4 doses.
Sir, today the child keeps clearing his throat but is not coughing. Which prescription should I use?
I apologize for troubling you, Sir.

To add a point, the child has been clearing his throat softly throughout the day today. When asked, he said there is "a slight itch between the chest and the throat." I hope this is useful for your diagnosis.

Sir, which prescription should I use? Should I use the first prescription first, and once he recovers, switch to the second one?
I apologize for troubling you, Sir. Please give me more guidance.

The child keeps clearing his throat softly. When asked, he says there is "a slight itch between the chest and the throat."
Hello Sir,
The child has finished taking the medicine. (Chenpi 4g, Banxia 4g, Xingren 4g, Wuweizi 4g, Ganjiang 5g, Zhigancao 5g, Baizhu 5g, Dangshen 5g, steeped in boiling water, taken one bowl each at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM, total 4 doses.)
However, he still occasionally clears his throat softly. But during the day and night, there is basically no coughing, and no coughing after exercise. Occasionally last night, shortly after falling asleep, he coughed for over half an hour, then spat out some phlegm. After giving him a cup of hot water, he was fine afterwards.
It has been over 4 months since the child contracted pneumonia. The Western medicines have harmed the child, leading to asthma. However, since finishing the prescription you provided (Xingren 4g, Xixin 2g, Heifuzi 6g, Wuweizi 4g, Chenpi 4g, Banxia 4g, Fuling 4g, Baizhu 5g, Ganjiang 5g, Zhigancao 5g, Guizhi 8g, Baishao 3g), the first dose showed significant effect. It is truly miraculous. Thank you, Sir.
Now the child still occasionally clears his throat softly. I would appreciate it if you could take a look.
Wishing you a Happy New Year, Sir.

During the day, there is occasional coughing and throat clearing. At night, there is occasionally one cough, basically none. There is no coughing after heavy exercise.
Trouble you to take another look, Sir. Since contracting pneumonia in October, the child has been coughing. Thanks to your treatment, he has improved significantly, but there is still occasional slight coughing during the day. The sound is different from before; it doesn't sound like a dry cough, but rather like there is phlegm.
Also, may I ask if a cough like my son's is contagious to my daughter, who is only 1.5 years old?
Thank you very much for your treatment over the past half-month. Since remittance is inconvenient for me, could you please provide your receiving address? I will send a check. Thank you, Sir.

It is not contagious. You can stop the medication. The remaining minor issues can be handled by the body itself.
Medical Case Five: Pediatric Cough, Nasal Congestion, and Runny Nose for Two Weeks

1. Please fill in the following items in detail—
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: June 22, 2005, 11:00 (AD)
Place of Origin: Shenzhen, Guangdong
Occupation: Infant
Height: 68 cm
Weight: 8.5 kg
Waist Circumference: N/A
Skin Color: Yellow, slightly dark
Main Symptoms:
Cough (coughs during the day, not at night, feels phlegm cannot be expectorated, no wheezing); Nasal congestion (severe in morning and evening, relieved at noon, occurs when exposed to both cold and heat, occasional mild congestion during sleep at night, recurrent); Runny nose (alternating clear and turbid discharge)
History of Onset:
Started coughing, nasal congestion, and runny nose on the morning of December 22. Consulted Western medicine on December 26, diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and upper respiratory tract infection. Prescribed Xiao'er Xiaoji Huatan Oral Liquid. After three days with no improvement, stopped usage. Changed hospital on December 31. Prescribed antiviral oral liquid for Wind-Heat, Shedan Chenpi Oral Liquid for Wind-Cold, and Western medicine Echact. Due to the conflict between Wind-Heat and Wind-Cold treatments, I dared not take the two oral liquids. Only took Echact once that night. Nasal congestion disappeared that night, but obvious side effects of agitation appeared. The next day, nasal congestion worsened, so Echact was stopped. The other two oral liquids were not taken. On January 2, consulted Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Diagnosed as Wind-Cold Common Cold. Explained nasal congestion upon exposure to heat/cold as allergy. Prescribed Western medicine Chlorpheniramine, Xiao'er Qutan Zhenke Syrup, and TCM formula: Xin Yi Hua (Magnolia Flower) 6g, Jingjie (Schizonepeta) 10g, Houpo (Magnolia Bark) 6g, Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) 10g, Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica) 6g, Xingren (Apricot Seed) 10g, Tinglizi (Lepidium Seed) 10g, Gancao (Licorice Root) 3g, Cang Er Zi (Xanthium Fruit) 10g, Baibu (Stemona Root) 10g, Chantui (Cicada Slough) 6g. Taken multiple times daily, finishing half a dose. Doctor prescribed two doses of TCM, one and a half doses have been taken. Chlorpheniramine and syrup were not taken. Today, nasal congestion and runny nose symptoms improved, occasional nasal congestion remains, cough persists.

Because the child is too young and very sensitive to the special aroma of Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), he refuses to drink it. Today's examination diagnosed bronchitis. What should I do? Please advise, Sir!

Urgent!
Sir, I just received news that X-ray diagnosis indicates the child has pneumonia. I do not trust Western medicine. If hospitalized, they will definitely administer antibiotics. I implore you to reply immediately!!!

Hello flyingsddk007! Please insist on taking the medication! If you hand your child's illness over to Western medicine, it will be troublesome.
The Sir is responsible for prescribing; we must overcome the problem of administering the medicine ourselves. I offer my experience for your reference. If incorrect, please correct me, Sir:
First, steep the medicine slightly stronger. For example, if a bowl is required, fill the water eight or nine parts full. This shortens the administration time, but do not make it too strong to affect the medicinal properties.
Then prepare a large plastic cup (ceramic bowls are easily knocked over and broken) and a small plastic cup. The small cup should ideally be small enough for the child to finish in one or two sips. We bought a "feeding cup" (a special small cup for feeding breast milk to infants) from a baby supply store. Also prepare a small baby bottle (or small cup) with warm water. If the child is too young, look for a dropper for infant medication at the baby supply store, possibly called a medicine feeder.
Put the medicine in the large cup (placed at arm's length to avoid being knocked over). Pour a little into the small cup and administer using the small cup. One sip at a time with the small cup facilitates administration. If the child resists and spills the medicine, at least not all of it is lost, dispersing the risk. After one sip from the small cup, follow with a sip of warm water from the baby bottle (or small cup). The warm water dilutes the medicinal taste, making the child less resistant.
Ask family members to help hold the child tightly. If necessary, force-feed (mothers, do not be too soft-hearted). Whatever amount is drunk counts. Praise and encourage the child after drinking medicine; gradually, he will get used to it.

Sir, should we still drink this medicine? Is it still four doses?

It is very difficult for a baby to take medicine. I don't know what to do either. Adding some sugar might help. My baby vomited it out directly. Watching him made me cry with him. I hope Mr. Sanqi can understand our feelings as parents. Thank you for your treatment.
flyingsddk007: I am also in Shenzhen. Let's communicate more about the baby's treatment when free! My email is... ...

Urgent, urgent, urgent, Sir! Our hearts are bitter. It's not that we don't want to give it to him. Because it wasn't stated that sugar could be added, we didn't add any. We don't know why he refuses so stubbornly...
Today we went to the hospital for an X-ray. The report says "Increased lung markings in both lungs, blurred patchy shadows visible in the middle and inner zones of both lungs," diagnosed as pneumonia. We visited two hospitals. After seeing the X-rays, both doctors said pneumonia requires hospitalization and IV drips. But doesn't pneumonia cause fever? The child has no fever. I am in pain. I implore you to teach me immediately. What should I do? What should I do? What should I do? Very anxious, thank you, thank you, waiting online, thank you!!!

Western medicine requires hospitalization this afternoon. Family members also demand it. What should I do?!

Take the medicine! Use the time you spend asking the Sir to take the medicine!
The Sir prescribed the formula on January 7, 2006. You delayed until now! If you don't take the medicine, what else can you ask the Sir to do?!

Patient Instructions for Common Cold (Masterpiece by Mr. Sanqi) (See page 61 of this book)
http://www.37tcm.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=75&fpage=1
Please explain to your family: If Western medicine methods were effective, your "History of Onset" would not be written so extensively.
Originally, it was just a slight chill. Taking random medicines led to this state. The Sir did not blame you but prescribed medicine, which is rare. The Sir is very busy, conducting free clinics for dozens of patients daily. It is already difficult for him to check in once in the morning and once in the evening. He is not waiting here all day to answer questions. Use the time you wait to feed the medicine, and the illness would have healed long ago!
You say you are anxious. Why not feed the medicine if you are anxious? Are there children born who like taking medicine? Spending half an hour to an hour on one bowl of medicine is not unusual. If the child resists and spills it, just steep another bowl and feed again. Refusing to drink to death? Can't you force-feed? If the child dislikes Chinese medicine, you accommodate him. But the child also dislikes hospitalization and IV drips. Why are you willing to send him to Western medicine?
[Guyue]
January 16, 2006, 16:50
When a child vomits immediately after drinking medicine, it is usually not the medicine's fault, but likely because you fed too quickly, causing choking.
Method for holding the child when force-feeding: The adult sits. The child sits on the adult's lap with their back against the adult's chest. The adult's legs clamp the child's feet firmly. One arm holds the child's hands horizontally across the chest. The other hand presses on the child's forehead. Ask another person to hold the child's mouth with one hand and feed with the other. If the child occasionally opens their mouth willingly, relax slightly and encourage gently. If they resist, hold tighter and force-feed. At this time, feed slowly, one small sip at a time. Do not gulp down large amounts!
It is inevitable for adults to feel heartache. Show love, but save the proper pampering for after the event. Find things to distract the child's attention, such as small toys.
If vomiting occurs some time after taking the medicine, it might also be a disease-expelling reaction. Come up to ask the Sir if there are problems. Do not act on your own due to anxiety.
The above is for reference only.
This is the Sir's clinic. I shouldn't speak so much.

Thank you to all the kind people for your earnest advice. Firmly believing in Chinese medicine, by this morning, one and a half doses have been finished. The cough has significantly improved. No coughing upon waking up in the morning, only one cough in the morning. The phlegm sound has significantly reduced. Let Western medicine's "pneumonia" go to hell!

Hello Sir. So far, two and a half doses have been administered. The night before last and last night, we alternately applied warm hot water bags to the back and feet. Sweating profusely. This morning, lots of sweat, lots of saliva, and running clear nose. The cough phlegm sound is not as turbid as the day before, but phlegm can still be heard in the throat. There were several intense coughing fits in the morning. Please diagnose, thank you!
Additionally, may I ask if the child can eat fish and egg yolk now that complementary foods have been introduced? He is still breastfeeding. Are there any foods the mother should avoid? Thank you!
