The *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats prolapse of the vagina and uterus after childbirth.
Apply iron powder (Tiejing, 铁精) to the protruding part and push it back into place.

The *Gujin Luyan* (Records of Antiquity and Modern Times) treats prolapse of the vagina and uterus after childbirth.
*Sichuan Pepper* (Shujiao, 蜀椒, one sheng), *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuzhuyu, 吴茱萸, one sheng), *Rongyan* (Rongyan, 戎盐, half the size of a chicken egg).
Pound the above three ingredients together, wrap in cotton like half a chicken egg, insert into the vagina, change once daily, cured in twenty days.
Another prescription:
*Softshell Turtle Head* (Bietou, 鳖头, two pieces dried in shade), *Puerariae Radix* (Gegen, 葛根, one jin).
Pound the above two ingredients into powder, take one fangcun bi with wine, three times daily.
The *Sunu Jing* (Classic of the Plain Woman) discusses the eight types of abdominal masses (Ba Jia, 八瘕) causing infertility and cessation of menstruation, methods for conceiving and nurturing pregnancy, methods for taking medicine according to months after miscarriage, and prescriptions for vaginal closure with polyps, vaginal itching with sores, leukorrhea, uterine malposition, vaginal protrusion, vaginal swelling and hardness, and other hidden diseases.
Yellow Emperor asked Sunu: "I have heard that women suffer from illness after childbirth, before childbirth, or cease to conceive after childbirth. Why is this? Various diseases arise, causing accumulations in the abdomen, spasms and pain in the chest, hypochondrium, waist, and back, which over time form the eight jia masses. The condition is deep and fearsome, not located in the intestines or stomach; even if treated, it may recur. Can you describe these symptoms?" Sunu replied: "Women's illnesses all result from menstrual disorders and childbirth, originating from the womb. The conditions vary; if acupuncture and medication are not applied correctly, they cannot be cured."
Yellow Emperor said: "Explain the essentials calmly; I will treasure them." After receiving the teaching for a long time and contemplating carefully, he said: "Excellent. How should it be treated?" Sunu said: "I will indeed explain. The number of wombs in women lies deep in the yin region. All things are born from the profound abyss; blood vessels and essence qi flow through here. The Kidney belongs to Yin, and Yin governs opening and closing. The left side is the Bao Men (Gate of the Womb), the right side is the Zi Hu (House of the Child), governing menstruation and the way of childbirth. Bao Men is born from seminal essence; spirit and qi enter and exit here, merging with the Zhong Huang Men (Central Yellow Gate). The four sides of the Yu Men (Jade Gate) hold the Guan Yuan (Gate of Origin) acupoint, sealing seminal essence. Three cun below the umbilicus is named Guan Yuan, governing the storage of Hun and Po. The woman's womb is the mansion of the San Jiao (Triple Burner), usually flowing from above. However, when a woman's meridians and collaterals are harmonized, menstruation arrives on time, enabling conception without disease. If a woman's Ying and Wei (Defensive and Nutritive) meridians are severed and blocked, excessive thinking allows pathogenic qi to wander and enter the Zi Zang (Substance Organ/Womb). If lochia has not cleared after birth and intercourse occurs, the woman's meridians become spasmodic, causing urgency and fullness in the lower abdomen, pulling pain in the chest, hypochondrium, waist, and back, soreness and wasting of the limbs, irregular diet, retention of stagnant bad blood, irregular menstruation (early or late, sometimes prolonged), leading to accumulations resembling pregnancy. Severe pathogenic qi causes trance-like states, frequent dreams, alternating cold and heat, reluctance to move limbs, wind generation in the vagina, fleshy swellings, severe difficulty urinating resembling strangury, yellow-black complexion, and eventual sterility. Yellow Emperor said: "I am deeply worried. How can it be treated to cure the disease and enable having children? I wish to receive your teaching; I dare not transmit it to the unworthy. Why is it so miraculous?" Sunu said: "Now I will detail the diagram."
First is Huang Jia (Yellow Mass). Huang Jia occurs when a woman's menstruation has just started, or if she recently suffered a fall, blood and qi have not stopped, and she has not settled in bed. With the five zang and six fu organs weak and spirit unsettled, if she exposes herself to strong winds while relieving herself, opening and closing joints widely, contracting wind-dampness, qi rises from below into the yin region, lingering there, named Yin Deficiency, generating the Huang Jia mass. This causes cold and heat in the limbs, heaviness and sweating, loss of appetite, a hard knot of qi under the left hypochondrium that cannot be suppressed, pulling pain in the waist and back, difficult menstruation, leading to infertility. Lower abdominal urgency pulls into the vagina like a needle, inability to urinate, occasional chills and fever, discharge of red-yellow fluid. Such suffering leads to sterility. Treatment involves needling Guan Yuan and Qi Chong acupoints, administering toxic drugs according to specific methods; the mass will descend and heal.
Another prescription for guiding out Huang Jia using Gaojiao Powder:
*Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, one liang roasted, skin and seeds removed), *Sichuan Pepper* (Shujiao, 蜀椒, one liang stir-fried until oil appears), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛, six fen).
Pound the above three into powder, store in a triangular bag the size of a finger, two cun long, and insert into the vagina. Remove if stifling, reinsert when comfortable. When bad blood is completely discharged, wash with warm water. Avoid men for three days; avoid raw vegetables.
Second is Qing Jia (Green Mass). Qing Jia occurs if a woman gets up and walks less than ten days after childbirth, bathes too early with hot water, causing yin and yang deficiency. The Yu Men disperses, Zi Hu is unstable, bones and muscles ache, arms cannot be raised, diet has not recovered, internal organs feel hollow. Sleeping in drafts without covering, or lying on wet ground/mats, causes chilling cold to enter the abdomen, mental restlessness and heaviness. Retained bad blood and trapped heat generate the Qing Jia mass in the left and right hypochondrium, hiding in the back and spine, extending to shoulders and lower waist, causing leg spasms, rising qi in the lower abdomen, excessive salivation, inability to eat much, reluctance to move limbs, trance-like states, dreams, swollen hands and feet, yellow complexion, difficulty in urination and defecation. Symptoms resemble irregular menstruation or metrorrhagia. This is due to negligence, leading to fewer children. Treatment involves needling the Weiguan point and administering toxic drugs; the mass will descend and heal.
Another guiding prescription for Qing Jia:
*Rongyan* (Rongyan, 戎盐, one sheng), *Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, half a liang roasted, skin and seeds removed), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛, one liang six zhu).
Pound into powder, store in a triangular bag the size of a finger, three cun long, insert into the vagina. While lying down, the mass will descend, discharging green fluid like mallow juice. Nourish as postpartum.
Third is Zao Jia (Dry Mass). Zao Jia occurs when menstruation has just flowed, bad blood is not exhausted, and the person is weak. Walking briskly in summer heat, lifting heavy objects, qi rises to the diaphragm and back. Lower abdomen is obstructed and urgent; menstruation and qi are both blocked. Drinking cold water for relief causes menstruation to flow transversely into other organs, generating heat, creating the Zao Jia mass, half a cup in size. Pain in upper and lower abdomen under hypochondria, pulling to heart causing aversion to food, nausea, inability to sigh deeply, heavy waist and back, night sweats, sore legs, pain upon standing, incontinence, sudden leakage resembling seminal emission, closed menstruation, difficult defecation. This leads to fewer children. Treatment uses long needles with pressing techniques and toxic drugs; the mass will descend and heal.
Another prescription for Zao Jia:
*Rhubarb Tuber* (Dahuang, 大黄, size of a chicken egg), *Dried Ginger* (Ganjiang, 干姜, two liang), *Chicken Gizzard Membrane* (Jizhong Huangmo, 鸡中黄膜, one piece roasted), *Coptis Rhizome* (Huanglian, 黄连, two liang), *Cinnamon Twig Bark* (Guixin, 桂心, one chi).
*Blatta Orientalis* (Machong, 䗪虫, three pieces fried), *Magnolia Bark* (Houpo, 厚朴, ten zhu roasted), *Prunus Seed* (Yuliren, 郁李仁, one liang peeled and fried).
Pound the above eight into powder. On an empty stomach in the morning, take three qian bi with a cup of warm wine in one dose. The mass will descend. Nourish as postpartum. Those without children for three months will conceive. Avoid intercourse for three days.
Fourth is Xue Jia (Blood Mass). Xue Jia occurs when menstruation has just started but stops prematurely due to overeating, causing grain qi to overflow into other organs. With muscle coldness, insufficient breathing, and unregulated respiration, exertion causes blood to flow between intestines and stomach, lingering with internal cold and heat, mixing with menstruation to form the Xue Jia mass. This causes lower back pain preventing bending or stretching, accumulated qi under the lateral ribs hard as stone, lower abdominal urgency and pain, back and spine pain, hip pain, cold wind sensation in the genitals, irregular menstruation coming and going. This leads to sterility. Treatment: the mass will descend and heal. (Formula missing)
Cui Shi's prescription for Xue Jia pain:
*Dried Ginger* (Ganjiang, 干姜), *Cuttlefish Bone* (Wuzhouyugu, 乌贼鱼骨, each one liang roasted), *Peach Kernel* (Taoren, 桃仁, one liang peeled, tips removed, fried).
Pound into powder, take two fangcun bi with wine, twice daily.
Another prescription:
Take an ancient iron steelyard weight, large axe head, or iron pestle, heat red-hot in charcoal, drop into three sheng of good wine, drink slowly.
Another prescription:
*Cinnamon Powder* (Gui Mo), take one fangcun bi with warm wine, twice daily. (All from Volume 10, Lower Scroll)
*Gujin Luyan* guiding prescription for Xue Jia stabbing abdominal and hypochondriac pain:
*Rhubarb Tuber* (Dahuang, 大黄), *Angelica Sinensis Root* (Danggui, 当归, each half fen), *Cornus Fruit* (Shanzhuyu, 山茱萸, one liang), *Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, one liang roasted, skin and seeds removed), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛), *Rongyan* (Rongyan, 戎盐, two six zhu).
Pound the above six, mix with fragrant balm into pills the size of a finger. Wrap in cotton and insert into the vagina. Sit upright for a long time; the mass will descend. Nourish as postpartum.
Fifth is Zhi Jia (Fat Mass). Zhi Jia occurs when menstruation has just started or within thirty days postpartum, before recovery, engaging in intercourse. Collaterals separate, Bao Men is injured, Zi Hu loses control, joints disperse, fluids circulate, yin channel moves, hundred pulse gates open. Externally invisible, seminal essence meets blood and qi, violating taboos, essence transforms but is insufficient to form a child, generating the Zhi Jia mass. This causes fullness and tight pain in limbs, pulling lower abdomen heaviness, stabbing waist and back, inability to raise limbs, poor taste in mouth, restless sleep, wandering pain, cutting abdominal pain, fluctuating severity, shortness of breath, dizziness, body aches, aversion to cold and wind, bladder distension, irregular menstruation, continuous bleeding in urine and stool. This leads to sterility. Treatment involves needling with long needles and administering toxic drugs; the mass will descend and heal.
Another prescription for Zhi Jia:
*Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, eighteen zhu peeled and tipped), *Alumen* (Fanshi, 矾石, six zhu calcined), *Schisandra Berry* (Wuweizi, 五味子), *Sichuan Pepper* (Shujiao, 蜀椒, fried), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛), *Dried Ginger* (Ganjiang, 干姜, each half liang).
Pound into powder, mix with fragrant balm into soybean-sized pellets. Apply to the male glans for intercourse. Within three times, the mass heals.
Another prescription for women who absolutely cannot conceive again, or never conceived, due to Zhi Jia masses in the abdomen, guided by decoction:
*Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, roasted, seeds and skin removed), *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuzhuyu, 吴茱萸), *Angelica Sinensis Root* (Danggui, 当归, each one liang), *Sichuan Pepper* (Shujiao, 蜀椒, fried, two liang), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛, fried), *Alumen* (Fanshi, 矾石, calcined), *Schisandra Berry* (Wuweizi, 五味子, each three fen), *Rhubarb Tuber* (Dahuang, 大黄), *Rongyan* (Rongyan, 戎盐, each two liang), *Dried Ginger* (Ganjiang, 干姜, two liang).
Pound the above ten into powder. Fill a light silk bag (finger-sized, three cun long) with the medicine, insert into the vagina. Sit or lie as desired, do not walk. Remove during urination and replace with a new one.
Sixth is Hu Jia (Fox Mass). Hu Jia occurs when menstruation arrives on schedule, but the woman feels sorrowful and fearful. Traveling far, encountering storms, rain, thunder, and fright. Exhausted from dampness, short of breath, mind in trance, limbs flaccid and shaking with chills. Upon waking or sleeping, pulse qi seems cut off, spirit wanders. Pathogenic qi enters the yin interior and does not leave, generating the Hu Jia mass, consuming the Zi Zang, causing amenorrhea. Lower abdominal stasis, chest/hypochondrium/waist/back pain, vaginal swelling, difficult urination, Bao Men and Zi Hu reject male essence, excess qi in five zang. Causes craving food, nausea, excessive salivation, excessive thoughts, feeling pregnant.
Four times administering toxic drugs according to method; the mass will descend and heal.
Another prescription for Hu Jia:
Take one newly dead rat, wrap in new cotton, coat with yellow earth, dig a pit deep enough to submerge the rat, place it inside, burn mulberry wood above it for one day and one night. Retrieve, remove cotton, add six zhu of *Cinnamon Twig Bark* (Guixin, 桂心) powder, take two fangcun bi with wine. The disease will descend; severe cases may require no more than two doses until cured.
Seventh is She Jia (Snake Mass). She Jia occurs when menstruation has just stopped, closure not yet restored, Bao Men and Zi Hu strained, yin and yang not balanced, Ying and Wei dividing. Suffering from wind-cold weakness, diet unregulated, walking in drafts, crossing mud, enduring cold drought, sitting on wet ground, named Yin-Yang Chaos, empty abdomen. Traveling far, drinking dirty well water, eating unclean food, swallowing snake/rat essence, which lingers, generating the She Jia mass. It consumes liver and heart, grows large, strips along below umbilicus, twists around hypochondria, prevents exhaling, painful calves and thighs, lower abdominal heat, red-yellow urine, bladder pulling vagina into spasm, waist/back pain, difficulty moving, chills and fever, variable menstruation. This leads to sterility. If the mass has formed hands and feet, it kills; if not, it is treatable. Treatment has methods; administer toxic drugs; the mass will descend and heal.
Another prescription for She Jia:
*Rhubarb Tuber* (Dahuang, 大黄), *Scutellaria Root* (Huangqin, 黄芩), *Mirabilite* (Mangxiao, 芒硝, each half liang), *Licorice Root* (Gancao, 甘草, one chi roasted, size of finger), *Cuttlefish Bone* (Wuzhouyugu, 乌贼鱼骨, two pieces), *Gleditsiae Fructus* (Gaojiao, 皂荚, six pieces peeled and tipped).
Pound the above six, boil in six sheng of water for three boils, strain, add Mangxiao, take when temperature is suitable. One dose every ten days, taken on an empty stomach; the mass will descend.
Eighth is Bie Jia (Turtle Mass). Bie Jia occurs when menstruation has just arrived, the person is exhausted and sweating. Clothes remain wet, not changed in time. Sleeping in drafts, feet on wet ground, trance-like state, pacing uneasily, complexion not stabilized, seeing loved ones, heart opens and agitates, soul moves, internal organs consume. Entering water to wash/bathe, not exiting in time, spirit not guarded, water qi and pathogenic qi enter San Jiao. Evening and morning出入, Yu Men closes first, fluids wander and linger, generating the Bie Jia mass. Size of a small cup, cutting pain in lower abdomen, evil qi moving left and right, pain in upper/lower abdomen, intermittent existence, jumping sensation upon holding, pulling into vagina, waist, and back pain, difficulty breathing, amenorrhea, yellow-black complexion, hoarse voice, shortness of breath. This leads to absolute sterility. If the mass has hands and feet and is formed, it kills; if not, it is treatable. Treatment has methods; use long needles for pressing therapy.
Another prescription for Bie Jia:
*Rhubarb Tuber* (Dahuang, 大黄, six fen), *Dried Ginger* (Ganjiang, 干姜), *Aconite Lateral Root* (Cezǐ, 侧子, each half fen), *Aconite Root* (Fuzi, 附子), *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen, 人参, each nine zhu), *Blatta Orientalis* (Machong, 䗪虫, one cun bi fried), *Cinnamon Twig Bark* (Guixin, 桂心, one liang six zhu), *Asari Radix* (Xixin, 细辛), *Euphorbia Root* (Tuxiong, 土𧏙, each eighteen zhu), *Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome* (Baizhu, 白术, one liang).
Pound the above ten into powder, take one fangcun bi with wine, three times daily. Regarding the above eight types of jia diseases. (From *Gujin Luyan*, Volume 30)
