According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases), the pathogenesis of heart and abdominal distension and fullness lies in the deficiency of the zang-fu organs, allowing pathogenic factors to invade. These pathogens affect the Heart and Spleen. The Foot-Taiyin channel is the meridian of the Spleen; when the Spleen is deficient, distension occurs. The Foot-Shaoyin channel is the meridian of the Kidney. Its vessel originates below the little toe, ascends to connect with the Bladder. The straight branch enters the Lung from the Kidney, and its branch emerges from the Lung to connect with the Heart. When the zang-fu are deficient and pathogenic factors lodge in these two meridians, they contend with the healthy Qi, accumulating internally. The Qi converges on the Spleen; due to Spleen deficiency, distension arises, causing vexation, fullness, rapid breathing, and abdominal swelling. Upon pulse diagnosis, a slow and slippery pulse indicates distension and fullness. Regarding decoctions, moxibustion/ironing therapy, acupuncture, and bian stone therapy, there are separate specific formulas for nourishment and guidance, which are appended below. The *Yangsheng Fang · Daoyin Fa* (Preservation Methods · Guiding and Pulling Methods) states: Extend the right leg, bend the left knee and press inward, for five breaths, to guide the Spleen Qi, thereby dispelling cold-heat pathogens from the heart and abdomen and evil distension from the chest and diaphragm. Practicing according to the meridians draws out the hot Qi from the Spleen, removing cold-heat from the heart and abdomen and evil distension from the chest and diaphragm. Long-term practice prevents injury from cold-heat pathogens at any season, known as the formula of the True Person. (From Volume 16)
