The *Guangji Fang* treats heart pain, as well as the sensation of heart qi pulling the ribs, chest oppression leading to hematemesis, irritability and pain in the hands and feet, and inability to ingest food or drink. This is the formula for Taoren Wan (Peach Kernel Pill).
Taoren (Peach Seed) (8 fen, peeled and remove tips), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (6 fen), Shaoyao (Peony Root) (8 fen), Helile (Chebulae Fructus) (6 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root) (6 fen, honey-fried), Yanhuxue (Corydalis Rhizoma) (4 fen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (6 fen), Binglang (Areca Seed) (14 pieces).
These eight ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into pills the size of wutong seeds using honey. Take twenty pills with wine on an empty stomach, gradually increasing to thirty pills, taken twice daily, aiming for a smooth and unobstructed bowel movement. Avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum), Songcai (Chinese Cabbage), raw vegetables, hot noodles, buckwheat, pork and dog meat, and sticky foods. (From Volume IV)
The *Gujin Luyan* records the syndrome of Zhenxintong (True Heart Pain), where the hands and feet turn cyanotic extending to the joints, and severe heart pain results in death if onset occurs in the morning and persists until evening, or vice versa. This is the emergency prescription for treating heart pain when the patient has already died from pain.
Elevate the pillow and support the knees, intending to make the abdominal skin soft and wrinkled. Press the Weiguan acupoint located three cun above the umbilicus for a moment. If the patient suffers from painful shortness of breath and desires someone to raise their hand, gently raise the hand and ask if the pain has alleviated; if it eases, stop the manipulation. (From Volume VIII)
The *Jiuji Fang* provides formulas for treating cold-type or heat-type heart pain.
Take powder from Fulonggan (Caos Xin Tu / Earth from the Center of the Cooking Stove), boil it in water, and take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure). If it is cold-type heart pain, mix with wine and take to achieve recovery. (*Fan Wang Fang* and *Jingxin Lu* are identical; From Volume VIII)
According to *Bingyuan*, abdominal pain arises from deficiency of the fu and zang organs, allowing cold qi to invade between the chang intestines and mu-yuan (epigastric region), where it accumulates and does not dissipate. The righteous qi and pathogenic qi clash and strike each other, causing pain. If cold qi clashes with the yin meridians, abdominal pain accompanied by borborygmus occurs, termed "Han Zhong" (Cold Middle), which indicates insufficiency of yang qi and excess of yin qi. Palpating the cunkou pulse: if deep and tight, there is abdominal pain; if the chi pulse is tight, there is pain below the umbilicus; if the pulse is deep and slow, there is abdominal pain; if the pulse comes with a throbbing sensation, there is lower abdominal pain; if the yin pulse is wiry, there is abdominal pain. Generally, in cases of urgent abdominal pain, indicating internal disease, the pulse should be deep. If the pulse is fine but unexpectedly floating and large, the condition should resolve; if the patient does not recover immediately, death is certain because the pathology contradicts the pulse presentation. Regarding decoctions, moxibustion/ironing therapy, acupuncture, and stone therapy, there are separate specific formulas for nourishing and guiding qi, which are attached below. The *Yangsheng Fang · Daoyin Fa* states: For pain in the thighs, calves, and arms, the method is to flex the painful leg or arm, lie supine, hold the breath through mouth and nose inducing abdominal pain, use intention to guide qi to the painful area, imagining heat arriving at the pain site leads to recovery. It also states: Lie supine, extend both legs and arms, dorsiflex the toes, inhale deeply through the nose to the limit for seven breaths to eliminate tense, urgent abdominal pain. It further states: Lie supine, inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose to eliminate tenesmus; after a full meal, swallow air dozens of times to warm the middle and dispel cold, treating dry retching, vomiting, and abdominal pain; inhale through the mouth seventy times, vigorously vibrate the abdomen, swallow air dozens of times, rub hands together until hot, then massage the abdomen to direct qi downward. (From Volume XVI)
