The Stomach belongs to the Foot-Yangming Meridian, whose main channel originates at the nose, circles the lips, and its branch enters and connects with the Spleen and Stomach. If there is heat in the Spleen and Stomach, the qi rises to the lips, causing sores. If these sores are further attacked by wind-cold-damp pathogens, slight swelling, dampness, and ulceration occur. The condition may alternate between cold and hot sensations, remitting and recurring over months or years.
