病源：大凡有人被鬼物所魅惑，就会常常悲伤而心神自动不安。或者心绪混乱如同醉酒，胡言乱语，惊恐害怕，对着墙壁悲伤啼哭，睡梦中喜欢做噩梦（魇）。或者与鬼神交通往来。病人痛苦于忽冷忽热，心腹胀满，气短不能进食。这是被邪魅所缠持所致。（出自第二卷中）
《广济方》治疗传尸骨蒸、肺痿、疰忤鬼气、突然心痛、霍乱吐泻、时气鬼魅瘴疟、赤白暴痢、瘀血月闭、癖积丁肿、惊痫鬼忤中人、吐乳狐魅的吃力迦丸方。
吃力迦（即白术）、光明砂（研细）、麝香（当门子）、诃黎勒皮、香附子（中白部分）、沉香（质地重的）、青木香、龙脑香（各半两，原文此处似有缺漏，依常理推测为多味药各半两或特定比例，此处直译原文“各半”后接“上十五味”，意指上述药材分量），上十五味药，捣碎筛成极细粉，用白蜜煎煮去沫，调和做成丸药。每天早晨取井华水（清晨第一次打的井水），服用梧桐子大小的四丸，在干净的容器中研碎服用。老人小孩每次研碎一丸服用。另外取一丸如弹丸大小，用蜡纸包裹装在红袋子里，佩戴在心口处。一切邪鬼不敢靠近。这是千金不传的秘方。冷水暖水，根据当时情况斟酌用量。忌食生血肉，腊月合药有神效。藏在密封的容器中，不要让气体泄漏出来。秘藏起来。忌食生血之物、桃李、雀肉、青鱼、醋等。
又治疗精魅病的方子。
水银（一两）
右取用水银，放入一升浆水中，在炭火上煎煮，减少三分之二。立即离火取出水银，呈熟豆大小。取当天的神符包裹水银空腹吞服。晚上再吞服一次。三天止住。没有禁忌。（并出自第四卷中）
《肘后备急方》治疗卒中邪魅、恍惚振噤的方子。
灸鼻下的人中穴，以及两手足大指爪甲根部。让艾丸一半在爪甲上，一半在肉上，各灸七壮。如果不愈，增至十四壮便痊愈。（《集验方》同，出自第三卷中）
《深师方》五邪丸。治疗邪狂鬼魅，胡言乱语疯狂奔跑，恍惚不认识人。这是被鬼魅所害，应当得到杀鬼丸方。
丹砂（研细）、雄黄（研细）、龙骨、马目毒公、鬼箭、鬼臼（各五两）、赤小豆（三两）、青（一枚）、桃仁（一百枚，去皮尖，炒后单独研细）
上九味药捣碎过筛。将雄黄、丹砂单独研细后用细绢筛过。与其他药物拌匀调和后，加入蜡熔化混合。制成如弹丸大小的药丸，用红布袋盛装。系在手臂上，男子系左边，女子系右边，小儿系在头上。配药时不要让妇女、鸡犬看见。服药时用蜜和丸如梧桐子大小，一次三丸，一天三次。忌食五辛、生血之物。（出自第九卷中）
《短剧方》治疗鬼魅的四物鸢头散方。
东海鸢头（是由跋根）、黄牙石（又名金牙）、莨菪、防葵（各一分）

《集验方》治疗男子得鬼魅欲死，所见惊恐想要逃跑，有时发作有时休止，都是邪气所为，自己不能断绝。九物牛黄丸方。

《必效方》辟鬼魅方。
虎爪、赤朱、雄黄、蟹爪
上四味捣碎。用松脂融化加热，调和做成丸药。否则药丸会硬。在正朝旦日及有狐鬼的地方焚烧，非常有效。用来熏巫人，神灵就会离去。王三师说奇效。忌食生血之物。（出自第四卷中）
《近效方》大麝香丸。治疗积年心痛、尸疰、蛊毒症癖、气乘心、两肋下有块、温瘴精魅邪气，或者悲伤或者哭泣，蛇蝎蜂等螫咬，都治疗的方子。
麝香、牛黄、藜芦（炙）、朱砂、蜀当归、茯苓、桔梗、鬼箭羽、金牙、乌头（炮制）、桂心、芍药（各半分，原文此处排版混乱，依常理推断为各半分或特定剂量，此处保留原文列举顺序）
上二十三味捣碎过筛。蜜和丸如梧桐子大小。用温水送服三丸。到辰时（上午7-9点）会腹泻。如果不下利，喝热饮催之，就会下利。三两梨等。蛇蝎蜂螫，取一丸研碎，和醋涂抹患处就好了。精鬼狐狸之类抛掷砖瓦，或者像兵马行走，夜间发作的是鬼魅。不分早晚，每天服用前面的药两丸，只两三天的时间服用就会痊愈。仍然每天烧一丸，熏身体及衣裳。在宅中烧也可以。无病患的人用三五丸装在红绢袋里系在左臂上，辟虎毒蛇诸精鬼魅等。忌食狸肉、生血之物、猪肉、生葱、芦笋。
Source: The etiology of illness states that when a person is bewitched by ghosts or spirits, they often feel sorrowful and their mind moves restlessly. Their heart may be confused as if drunk, speaking wildly, frightened and terrified, weeping sadly while facing the wall, and prone to nightmares in sleep. They may also have intercourse with ghosts and gods. The patient suffers from alternating chills and fever, fullness in the heart and abdomen, shortness of breath, and inability to eat. This is caused by being held captive by evil charms (Chu from Volume 2).
Guangji Fang treats Chuan Shi (Transmission Corpse disease), Gu Zheng (Bone steaming), Zhu Wu Ghost Qi (Infectious Qi), sudden Heartache, Huoluan (Cholera-like disorder) with vomiting and diarrhea, Shiqi Gui Mei Zhang Nue (Seasonal ghost charm malarial fever), Chi Bai Bao Li (Sudden red and white dysentery), Yu Xue Yue Bi (Blood stasis and amenorrhea), Pi Ding Zhong (Accumulation and carbuncle swelling), Jing Xian Gui Wu Zhong Ren (Startled epilepsy and ghost interference affecting humans), Tu Ru Hu Mei (Vomiting milk and fox charm). The formula for Kelifujia Wan is as follows:
Kelifujia (i.e., Baizhu/Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Guangming Sha (Cinnabaris, ground), Shexiang (Moschus, Dangmenzi part), Helile Pi (Terminaliae Chebulae Pericarpium), Xiangfuzi (Cyperi Rhizoma, middle white part), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, heavy quality), Qingmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Longnaoxiang (Borneolum Syntheticum) [Note: Text implies equal parts or specific measures for these ingredients among fifteen total]. The above fifteen flavors are pounded and sifted into an extremely fine powder. White honey is boiled to remove foam, then mixed to form pills. Every morning, take Jingshua Shui (well water drawn at dawn) to swallow four pills the size of wu zi (Chinese quince seeds). Crush the pill in a clean vessel before taking. For elderly and children, crush one pill per dose. Additionally, take one pill the size of a bullet, wrap it in wax paper, place it in a crimson bag, and wear it over the heart. All evil ghosts dare not approach. This is a secret not passed down by Qianjin. Use cold or warm water according to circumstances. Avoid raw meat and blood; making the medicine in the twelfth lunar month is spiritually potent. Store in a sealed container to prevent gas leakage. Keep it secret. Avoid raw blood products, peaches, plums, sparrow meat, green fish, vinegar, etc.
Another formula for treating Jing Mei (Spirit Charm) disease:
Shuiyin (Mercurius, 1 liang). Take Mercurius, add it to one sheng of Jiangshui (fermented grain wash), and boil over charcoal fire until reduced by two-thirds. Immediately remove from heat and retrieve the Mercurius, which should resemble a cooked bean. Wrap the Mercurius in a Shenfu (Divine Talisman) of the current day and swallow on an empty stomach. Swallow another dose in the evening. Cease after three days. No dietary restrictions apply. (Both from Volume 4).
Zhouhou Fang treats sudden attack by evil charms causing trance, trembling, and jaw clenching.
Moxibustion on Renzhong (GV26) below the nose, and at the base of the great toenails on both hands and feet. Place the moxa cone half on the nail and half on the flesh, seven moxibustions each. If not cured, increase to fourteen moxibustions for recovery. (Jiyan Fang agrees, from Volume 3).
Shenshi Fang's Wuxie Wan treats evil madness and ghost charms, wild talking, running madly, trance, and not recognizing people. This is caused by ghost charms; one should obtain the Shagui Wan (Ghost-Killing Pill) formula:
Dansha (Cinnabaris, ground), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground), Longgu (Fossilized bones, fossilized mammal teeth, etc.), Mumu Dougong, Guijian (Araliae Chinensis Ramulus), Guijiu (Podophylli Peltati Rhizoma et Radix) (each 5 liang), Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean, 3 liang), Qing (one piece), Taoren (Peach Kernel, 100 pieces, peeled, tips removed, fried and separately ground).
The above nine flavors are pounded and sifted. Xionghuang and Dansha are separately ground finely and sifted through silk gauze. Mix with other medicines, blend well, then add melted wax to form pills the size of bullets. Store in a crimson bag. Tie to the arm; men on the left, women on the right, children on the head. Do not let women, chickens, or dogs see the medicine preparation. Take pills mixed with honey, size of wu zi, three pills per dose, three times daily. Avoid five pungent spices and raw blood products. (From Volume 9).
Duanju Fang's Siwu Yuantou San treats ghost charms.
Donghai Yuantou (Youyaba Gen/Bupleuri Root?), Huangyas Hi (Huangya Shi/Golden Tooth Stone), Langdang (Daturae Fructus), Fangkui (Peucedani Radix) (each 1 fen).
Pound the above medicines and sift. Take one fangcun bi (square-inch spoonful) with wine. To make the patient see ghosts, add one fen of Fangkui. To make the patient know the master of the ghosts, add another fen. It works immediately. Fangkui and Langdang cause confusion, trance, and madness like insanity; do not take in large doses. (Beiji Qianjin Yaofang agrees, from Volume 5).
Jiyan Fang treats men suffering from ghost charms to the point of death, seeing terrifying sights wanting to flee, with intermittent attacks, all caused by evil qi that cannot be stopped independently. The Jiuwu Niuhuang Wan (Nine-Ingredient Bull Gallstone Pill) formula:
Jingshi (Renjing/Human Essence), Zengqing (Canglongjing/Cyan Dragon Essence, ground), Yuxi (Baihujing/White Tiger Essence, ground), Niuhuang (Tiger Calculus, Earth Essence, ground), Xionghuang (Realgar, Earth Essence, ground), Kongqing (Tianjing/Sky Essence, ground), Chishizhi (Vermilion Stone, Vermilion Bird Essence), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, Zhenwu Essence), Longgu (Water Essence, each 1 liang).
These nine items are called Nine Essences. They connect upwards to the Nine Heavens and downwards to the Nine Earths.
Pound and sift the above. Mix with honey to form pills the size of small beans. Swallow one pill before meals, three times daily. Gradually increase dosage until effective. Avoid sheep blood. (Wenzhong, Qianjin Fang, Yi Fang agree, from Volume 3).
Bixiao Fang to ward off ghost charms:
Hu Zhao (Tiger Claw), Chizhu (Red Cinnabar), Xionghuang (Realgar), Xie Zhua (Crab Claw).
Pound the above four ingredients until crushed. Melt Songzhi (Pine Resin) with heat and mix to form pills. Otherwise, they will be hard. Burn them on the first day of the month or where fox ghosts reside; this is very effective. Smoke sorcerers with it, and the spirits will depart. Wang Sanshi says it has miraculous effects. Avoid raw blood products. (From Volume 4).
Jinxiao Fang's Da Shexiang Wan treats chronic heart pain, Shizhu (Corpse Transmission), Guzadu Syndrome (Gu Poison), accumulation patterns, Qi attacking the Heart, masses under the costal regions, Wen Zhang Jing Mei Xieqi (Warm Miasma Spirit Charm Evil Qi), sadness or crying, and stings from snakes, scorpions, and bees. Formula:
Shexiang (Moschus), Niuhuang (Tiger Calculus), Lilu (Veratri Viridis Rhizoma, roasted), Zhusha (Cinnabaris), Shu Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Fuling (Poria), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Guijianyu (Araliae Chinensis Ramulus), Jinya (Golden Tooth Stone), Wutou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) [Note: Text lists 23 ingredients but only enumerates some clearly; quantities like "half fen" are mentioned for some].
Pound and sift the above twenty-three flavors. Mix with honey to form pills the size of wu zi. Take three pills with water. Diarrhea will occur at Chen hour (7-9 AM). If no diarrhea, drink hot liquid to induce it. For stings by snakes, scorpions, and bees, take one pill, crush it, mix with vinegar, and apply topically for recovery. Spirits, ghosts, foxes throwing bricks/tiles or marching like troops at night are ghost charms. Take two pills of the aforementioned medicine daily, regardless of time. Recovery occurs within two to three days. Also, burn one pill daily to fumigate the body and clothes. Burning it in the house is also good. Healthy people can carry three to five pills in a crimson silk bag tied to the left arm to repel tigers, venomous snakes, and various spirit charms. Avoid cat meat, raw blood products, pork, raw green onions, and reeds.
