This condition arises in the area below the waist on either side, corresponding to the skirt belt region. The skin is red, swollen, hard, with a flat apex, and accompanied by severe pain. In the early stage, moxibustion (Moxibustion) can be applied. If there is pain, moxa should be applied until itching occurs; if there is itching, until pain occurs. The pathogenic toxin will then dissipate; even if it does not fully dissipate, the harm caused will be minimal. The treatment method is the same as that for Ru Hua (Breast Carbuncle). Administer Zhongjiu Wan (Nine-Pill Decoction), and apply external washes, fumigations, and plasters to promote tissue regeneration and flatten the wound margins.
This condition occurs above the umbilicus, approximately three cun away from it. The skin shows no redness or swelling, but a lump protrudes within the flesh, causing slight pain upon pressure. Physicians often misdiagnose this as Tan He (Phlegm Nodule) or Ben Tun Qi (Rushing Pig Qi / Hernia-like sensation), rendering treatments ineffective. The etiology is mostly due to wind evil invading through deficiency following excessive indulgence in alcohol and sexual activity. The treatment involves taking one handful of fresh ginger and fire scallion, pounding them into a paste with a wooden mallet, heating them in a pan, and applying the hot compress to the affected area. When it cools, reheat and reapply to disperse the wind evil. Internally, administer Zhongjiu Wan combined with Jinfeng Wan (Golden Centipede Pill). Externally apply Maliang Gao (Hemp Cooling Ointment), or concurrently take formulas for draining pus and eliminating toxins: Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Zhi Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle) (each 3 qian), Yunfeng (likely a typo for Fangfeng, Saposhnikoviae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Yinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Wugong (Scolopendra), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus), Quanxie (Scorpio), Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Dazao (Ziziphi Jujubae Fructus) (three pieces as an enabler). Decoct these ingredients in water and take on an empty stomach, twice daily. The toxin will remain confined to the skin surface. If suppuration occurs or spontaneous rupture happens, the pus will be expelled via the stool. Subsequently, administer Lafan Wan (Beeswax and Alum Pill) to dry the pus and achieve healing: Huangla (Cera Flava) (2 liang), Mingfan (Alumen) (2 liang), Zhusha (Cinnabaris) (1 liang). First, grind the alum and cinnabar into fine powder and mix them together. Melt the beeswax in a pan, then add the mixed powders and stir evenly. While hot, form pills the size of sophora seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, swallowed with plain boiled water on an empty stomach, until the pus in the stool is completely cleared.
This condition occurs on both sides below the umbilicus, approximately three cun away from it. A strip-like hard mass crosses the hip joint area, causing pain extending up and down. Physicians often misdiagnose this as Ben Tun Qi or Xiao Chang Zhi Qi (Qi of the Small Intestine), resulting in poor therapeutic efficacy. Patients suffering from this condition usually experience qi stagnation and phlegm obstruction preventing normal circulation after excessive indulgence in alcohol and sex, followed by lying in drafty areas while the body is hot. The presentation resembles Shang Du Jiao (Upper Abdominal Corner Abscess), and the treatment method is similar. However, for patients with weak constitutions, Sanxiang Wan (Three Fragrance Pill) should be taken concurrently along with external application of Maliang Gao. After six or seven days, if the skin becomes significantly swollen and painful, Huarou Gao (Flesh-Dissolving Ointment) may be applied. When the tissue turns black, puncture with a needle to allow immediate drainage of pus. If the pus does not dry up naturally, use medicinal threads for drainage three times to ensure drying. If pus has formed but fails to erupt through the skin, it will inevitably cause internal rupture and exit via the urinary tract. In such cases, administering Zhongjiu Wan delivered with Dengxin Tang (Juncus Decoction) will lead to recovery.
