Jiu Bi (Rosacea) initially arises from internal steaming of blood-heat in the Lung Meridian, followed by external constraint of wind-cold, leading to blood stasis and coagulation. Thus, the condition first presents as purple and later turns black. Treatment must involve diffusing Lung Qi, resolving stagnant blood, and ensuring the smooth flow of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi to nourish new blood, so that recovery can be achieved.
Mahuang Xuanfei San (Ephedra Diffusing Lung Powder): Used for treating Jiu Bi.
Ingredients: Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Mahuanggen (Ephedrae Radix et Rhizoma) (each two liang).
Preparation and Administration: Use five hu of first-generation vinegar, boil over a double boiler for the duration of three incense sticks, then expose to dew overnight. Drink three to five cups morning and evening. After three to five days, pus will emerge and sores will form. After more than ten days, when the pus is exhausted, the redness subsides, turning yellow then white, leading to healing.
Tiaorong Huazhi Tang (Regulating Nutritive and Resolving Stasis Decoction):
Ingredients: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Honghua (Carthami Flos) (all washed with wine), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (stir-fried with wine), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (each one qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (raw, five fen), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (three slices).
Preparation and Administration: Add two zhong of water, decoct until eight fen remains. Add a small amount of wine, and mix with two qian of Wulingzhi powder (Trogopterori Faeces). Take after meals. For patients with weak Qi and obese physique, add Jiuhuangqi (Astragali Radix stir-fried with wine); the effect will be immediate.
Heishen Wan (Black Shen Pill): Used for treating Jiu Bi.
Preparation and Administration: Grind Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) into powder, mix with Zhuyedan (Porci Bile) to form pills. Take approximately one qian per dose, swallowed with warm boiled water after meals. Externally, apply Xuanshen powder mixed with Zhuyedan to the nose.
Various External Treatments:
1. Grind Liuhuang (Sulfur) into powder, mix with Chenzaojia Zhi (Juice of aged fermented eggplant dregs) and apply.
2. Use Yaxiao (Ivory powder), or Miduoseng (Lithargyrum), or Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), pound into a paste, and apply mixed with Renru (Human milk).
Meridians: The Classic states, "The flourishing aspect of the Spleen manifests in the lips." Pathologies of the lips present as: dryness when dry, cracking when hot, numbness when windy, and stiffness when cold. Treatment should address the specific cause. Avoid using caustic medicines or medicinal thread methods.
Fanchu Ding (Reverse Lip Carbuncle) arises inside the lip; Suokou Ding (Lock-Mouth Carbuncle) arises at the corner of the mouth. Both carbuncles begin like millet grains, hard as iron, accompanied by swelling, pain, numbness, itching, and alternating chills and fever. Refer to the "Carbuncle" section for internal and external treatment methods.
Chuju (Lip Abscess) arises on the lip, presenting with swelling, pain, and a head, and may involve alternating chills and fever when severe. It is caused by accumulated heat in the Stomach Meridian. Shenshou Weisheng San (Divine Grant Hygiene Powder) is suitable; Guijin Wan (Noble Gold Pill) is for robust individuals. Apply Ligong Dings (Palace Off Ding Paste) externally.
Note: Shenshou Weisheng San, Guijin Wan (both see Swelling Section); Ligong Dings (see Application Section); another method involves moxa application to Dubi acupoint (see Moxa Section).
