Fanhuachuang (Flower-Spreading Ulcer) arises after the ulceration of sores. It features a large head and a small stalk, resembling a protruding mushroom. Although it causes no pain or itching, it bleeds upon touch. This condition is caused by blood dryness, liver deficiency, and the accumulation of anger.
[Note] This syndrome occurs because, after the formation and ulceration of sores, flesh protrudes from the sore opening. Its shape resembles a mushroom: large at the head and small at the stalk, becoming more protruded and everted over time. Although it does not cause severe pain or itching, accidental contact or damage leads to bleeding. Prolonged bleeding results in deficiency. The root cause lies in liver deficiency and anger-induced qi-blood dryness. It is advisable to take Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder). Externally, apply an equal mixture of smoked fruit of *Vitis vinifera* (Wumei) ash and realgar (Xionghuang), ground into powder and sprinkled on the lesion; or use ash of *Portulaca oleracea* (Machixian) mixed with porcine fat for application. Both methods are effective.
Xuefengchuang (Blood-Wind Eczema) presents all over the body. It appears as millet-grain-like lesions with intense itching and exudation of serous fluid. It stems from wind-damp-heat affecting the Liver, Lung, and Spleen meridians. Long-term stagnation leads to dryness and itching, and scratching breaks the skin, releasing blood and fluids.
[Note] This syndrome is caused by damp-heat in the Liver and Spleen meridians, combined with external wind pathogen invading the skin and stagnating in the Lung meridian, resulting in sores all over the body. The lesions resemble millet grains, with unbearable itching. When scratched, serous fluid and lipid exudate spread across the skin, causing irritability, thirst, and itching, which are milder during the day and worse at night. It is advisable to take Xiaofeng San (Wind-Expelling Powder) and apply Xionghuang Jiedu San (Realgar Antidote Powder) externally. If the wind pathogen remains stagnant in the skin for a long time, it consumes blood and generates fire, doubling the itching. The patient may suffer from insomnia at night. Scratching releases fluids and blood, causing heart vexation, dry and constipated stool, dry throat without thirst. This belongs to fire-dryness and blood insufficiency. It is advisable to take Dihuang Yin (Rehmannia Decoction) and apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment) and Runji Gao (Moisturizing Skin Ointment) externally. Using them together is effective. Avoid consuming Sichuan pepper, alcohol, chicken, goose, and other "wind-moving" foods.
Xionghuang Jiedu San (Realgar Antidote Powder)
Realgar (Shi Xiong Huang) and natrii sulfas crystallinus (Han Shui Shi), each 1 liang; alum (Bai Fan, raw), 4 liang.
Grind into fine powder, mix with boiling water, and apply externally.
[Prescription Verse] For Realgar Antidote, use Han Shui Shi; Mix four taels of Bai Fan and grind together. For Blood-Wind Eczema with millet-like itching, Mix with boiling water to apply, draining toxic dampness.
Dihuang Yin (Rehmannia Decoction)
Prepared rehmannia root (Shu Di Huang), raw rehmannia root (Sheng Di Huang), and raw polygonum multiflorum root (He Shou Wu), each 3 qian; angelica sinensis root (Dang Gui), 2 qian; moutan cortex (Dan Pi), scrophularia root (Hei Shen), and tribulus fructus (Bai Ji Li, stir-fried, thorns removed); silkworm (Jiang Can, stir-fried), each 1.5 qian; carthamus flower (Hong Hua) and raw licorice root (Gan Cao), each 0.5 qian.
Decoct in water, take morning and evening.
[Prescription Verse] Dihuang Yin treats Blood-Wind Eczema, where intense itching prevents sleep due to blood dryness injury. Use He Shou Wu, Dan Pi, Sheng Di, and Shu Di; Combine Hei Shen, Dang Gui, Bai Ji Li, Gan Cao, Hong Hua, and Jiang Can.
