Gu Ben Yang Rong Tang (Solidify the Root and Nourish the Blood Decoction)
Gu Ben Yang Rong Tang consists of Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Shan Yao), Ginseng Radix (Ren Shen), and Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Bai Zhu).
It also includes Cornus Officinalis Fructus (Shan Yu Rou), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gan Cao), Moutan Cortex (Mu Dan Pi), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Rou Gui), Phellodendri Cortex (Huang Bo), and Schisandrae Fructus (Wu Wei Zi), which are suitable for use.
It treats bone abscess (Gu Ju) that has formed but where the bone cannot be expelled, or where the wound fails to heal after expulsion. This is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood and weak Spleen and Stomach functions; it is suitable to take this decoction. If the bone does not expel, it will naturally expel; if it does not heal, it will naturally heal.
Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizome), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizome), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Shan Yu Rou (Corni Fructus), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) (each 1 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus) (each 0.5 qian).
Add two zhong of water, three slices of fresh ginger, and two jujubes. Decoct until reduced to eight fen. Take before meals.

Add Long Gu (Dragon Bone) and Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum) and mix well. Using it to close wounds is not difficult.
It treats cases where bone from a grinding bone abscess (Mo Gu Tu Chu) protrudes, muscle growth is slow, and healing fails. Apply this powder externally.
Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Qing Fen (Calomelas), Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysitum Rubrum) (each 1 liang), Huang Dan (Minii Arsenicosum Rubrum, refined, 2 qian), Long Gu (Dragon Bone), Xue Jie (Sanguis Draconis), Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Resina), Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum) (each 3 qian).
Grind all into fine powder. First, decoct Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), and Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), each 1 qian, in water to wash the affected area clean. Shen Qi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill) (see Lung Abscess Section)
Women's yin sores (Yin Chuang) are caused by emotional stagnation transforming into fire, damaging the Liver and Spleen, with damp-heat pouring downward. The manifestations vary, but they all originate from pathogenic fire transformation. If something protrudes from the vagina like a snake about one chi long, feeling heavy, discharging fluid, and causing dysuria, it is due to Spleen Qi sinking with Liver Fire following. Take Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) in the morning and Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Decoction to Drain the Liver) in the evening. Externally apply Xiong Huang Li Lu San (Realgar and Veratrum Powder). The condition will gradually resolve. If something protruding from the vagina resembles a mushroom or a rooster's comb, with swelling and pain around the edges, it is caused by Liver Stagnation and Spleen Deficiency. First use Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang added with Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus), Fu Ling (Poria), and Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) to clear the Liver, tonify the Spleen, and raise the Middle Qi. Then regulate with Gui Pi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) added with Zhi Zi, Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood), Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma), and Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). If the vulva suddenly swells and becomes painful due to labor injuring the Blood aspect and damp-fire flowing downward, treat with Si Wu Tang added with Mu Dan Pi, Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix), and Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix). If insects resembling small maggots appear in the vagina, it is due to Heart Qi stagnation transformed by pathogenic fire. Treat with Si Wu Tang added with Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Dan Cao (Gentianae Radix), Tong Cao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), and Shi Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) to unblock and dissipate Heart orifice stagnation. Externally insert Yin Xing San (Ginkgo Powder) into the vagina. If nodules grow on the external genitalia and fine insects inside cause unbearable itching, these insects eating the internal organs will lead to death; causing frequent chills and fever similar to consumption (Lao Zhai). Women with this symptom often hide it out of shame. After prolonged neglect, they become sallow and emaciated, suffer chills and fever, cough with phlegm, and many die without treatment. If such symptoms occur, urgently swallow Xiao Yao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) with Lu Hui Wan (Aloe Pill), taken twice daily morning and evening. Externally wrap Yin Xing San in cotton and insert it into the vagina to kill insects and stop itching; gradual recovery occurs within half a month. If the vaginal opening remains open and cannot close, it is due to excessive worry and thought; alternate服用 Xiao Yao San and Gui Pi Tang both added with Chai Hu, Zhi Zi, Bai Shao, and Mu Dan Pi. Bleeding during intercourse indicates Liver Deficiency with Fire failing to store Blood; treat with Si Wu Tang added with Dan Cao, Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhi Zi, and Chai Hu. For recent trauma from intercourse causing swelling and pain, apply Zhen Zhu San (Pearl Powder) mixed with pig spinal cord. Furthermore, women living long periods in widowhood may have lustful fire acting wildly yet becoming stagnant, then wild again; pathogenic fire pours downward for a long time, often causing vaginal itching and insect generation. These insects eat the five viscera, causing vaginal rot, stabbing pain, foul discharge, dry mouth, fever, emaciation, and anorexia. Those with this symptom cannot be cured by medicine and ultimately die. This is also called Shi He Zheng (Lost Union Syndrome).
