Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 5 fen) is decocted together with Pengsha (Borax, 1 li) and Danfan (Alum, 2.5 li). Washing the eyes with this solution leads to immediate cure.
Xiaohongzao (Small Red Jujube, 12 pieces, washed with cold water and pitted), Gangaogouqi (Fructus Lycii Chinensis, 3 qian), and Maliadou (Horse Beans, 4 qian) are added to two bowls of water and decocted until one bowl remains. Take this medicine and broth together on an empty stomach in the morning.
This prescription originates from Daoist texts. It is effective regardless of whether the patient suffers from blindness (Gu mu), eye trauma caused by dirt (Fan tu), nebula-like visual obstruction (Yunwu), wind-eye disease (Feng yan), fire-eye disease (Huo yan), or blurred vision (Hun hua). Long-term washing will restore clear vision. Use: Xiaosha (Mirabilite, 6 qian) and Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis, 1 liang), decocted in water. Wash the eyes dozens of times while hot on specific auspicious dates. These dates are: the 5th day of the first lunar month, the 2nd day of the second lunar month, the 3rd day of the third lunar month, the 9th day of the fourth lunar month, the 5th day of the fifth lunar month, the 4th day of the sixth lunar month, the 3rd day of the seventh lunar month, the 10th day of the eighth lunar month, the 12th day of the ninth lunar month, the 12th day of the tenth lunar month, the 4th day of the eleventh lunar month, and the 4th day of the twelfth lunar month. The above are days blessed by auspicious stars, symbolizing universal brightness. This prescription is worth a thousand gold and should not be altered; it has proven effective repeatedly.
For unceasing hematemesis (vomiting blood), take Qingbaiye (Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis, one handful), Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, three slices), and Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini, one stick, roasted). Decoct these three ingredients in two bowls of water until one bowl remains, then take orally.
Alternatively, take the clots of vomited blood, stir-fry them until black, grind into powder, and take 3 fen each time, mixed with Maidong Tang (Ophiopogon Decoction).
Or, grind ancient gold ink into juice, mix with Luobozhi (Raphani Juice), and drink.
For sputum with blood streaks, Tongbian (Child's Urine) and Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) can stop the bleeding.
Additionally, take Qiangengen (Radix Rubi Coreani, 2-3 qian of powder), decoct with Tongbian, and take orally. For unceasing hematemesis, Ouzhi (Nymphaeae Rhizomatis Juice) mixed with Tongbian is beneficial.
Or, crush the roots of Dasuye (Perilla Frutescens Root), extract the juice, and take it warm.
For severe epistaxis (nosebleed) nearing death, burn disordered hair to ash, take one cun bi (a traditional measure) with water, and blow the powder into the nasal cavity.
Alternatively, scrape nail powder with a knife and blow it into the nasal cavity; bleeding stops immediately.
Around the Mid-Autumn Festival, use Wuwubeizi (Galla Chinensis, note: text likely implies plant leaves for dew collection context, literal translation used), one or two bolts of new blue cloth, torn into more than ten segments, each four or five chi long. At wugeng (3-5 AM), collect grass dew from the tips of hundred herbs, wring it into a bucket. Wring again when the blue cloth becomes wet, and replace with a new cloth when its color fades. Avoid exposure to sunlight. Store the collected dew in a clean porcelain jar, let it settle for several days until naturally clear. In the evening, take one wine glass of male human milk (about 1.5 liang), one wine cup of white honey, and one wine cup of Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction). Mix well, seal with cotton paper, and cover with a plate. Next day at wugeng, boil two large bowls of water. Heat the dew in the palace bowl over the water. When waking up, slowly take it warm. Lan (Orchid/Plant) kills parasites; dew removes fire from all meridians. This is remarkably effective for deficiency consumption disorders (Xu sun lao zheng).
Xin Qiji, upon returning from the north to the court and serving in Jiankang, suddenly suffered from hernia (Shan). The swelling was heavy and drooping, as large as a cup. A Daoist priest taught him to take Ye Zhu, which is Yiyiren (Coicis Semen / Coix Seed). Buying Yiyiren Ren is also excellent.
