Cold Lin (cold strangury) is a condition caused by deficiency-cold of the Zang-Fu organs. Its manifestation involves chills occurring first, followed by urination. This is due to the weakness of Kidney Qi and the invasion of cold pathogenic factors into the Lower Jiao and the Bladder (Pao), where they contend with the body's righteous Qi. When cold predominates, chills occur leading to Lin syndrome; when righteous Qi predominates, the chills subside, allowing for normal urination.
For treating Cold Lin presenting with oppression and fullness below the umbilicus and unbearable pain during urination, use Chenxiang San (Agarwood Powder).
Chenxiang (Agarwood, *Aquilaria sinensis*) (ban liang); Shiwei (Leaves of Pyrrosia, *Pyrrosiae Folium*) (ban liang, remove hairs); Huashi (Talcum, *Talcum*) (ban liang); Danggui (Root of Angelica Sinensis, *Angelicae Sinensis Radix*) (ban liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried); Qu Mai (Seeds of Buckwheat, *Fagopyri Dibotryis Fructus*) (ban liang); Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma*) (san fen); Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*) (yi fen, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced); Kuizi (Seeds of Abutilon, *Abutili Semen*) (san fen); Chishao Yao (Root of Red Peony, *Paeoniae Radix Rubra*) (san fen); Wangbuliuxing (Seeds of Vetch, *Viciae Semen*) (ban liang).
