Women presenting with distension and fullness in the heart and abdomen are caused by long-standing coldness of the zang-fu organs, deficiency and damage of qi and blood, allowing pathogenic factors to invade and attack the Heart and Spleen. This primarily involves the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian and the Lung.
To treat women with Spleen-Stomach qi deficiency causing distension and fullness in the heart and abdomen, anorexia, and weakness in the four limbs, use Baizhu San (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Powder).
Ingredients: Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (3 fen), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex Ramulus), Caodoukou (Cardamomi Fructus Rotundus) [2-3 fen, peeled], Binglang (Arecae Semen), Chi Fuling (Poria cum Radix Pini), Helile (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus) (3 fen, roasted until fragrant), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (1 fen, processed, sliced, lightly fried).
The above ingredients are crushed, sieved, and made into a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Add one zhongzhan of water, half a banfen of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and three Zao (Jujubae Fructus). Decoct until reduced to six parts. Strain off the dregs. Take slightly warm before meals.
