Xiao Zhong disease (Wasting-Thirst Disease) refers to a condition where the patient experiences mild thirst but consumes large amounts of food. This is caused by accumulated heat in the Spleen, which leads to rapid digestion of food. In some cases, taking "Five Minerals" pills (Wushi San, a type of mineral-based tonic) causes heat pathogens to accumulate internally within the Kidney. Since the nature of mineral drugs tends to target the Kidney, the Kidney becomes full/excess when receiving these minerals; excess generates internal heat, and heat consumes body fluids, resulting in scanty urination. Additionally, there are cases caused by deficiency-cold in the Zang-Fu organs, leading to frequent and urgent urination.

**Ji San Powder for treating Xiao Zhong with irritability-heat, rapid hunger after eating, and emaciated limbs:**
* *Qingcao* (Herba Descurainiae Huetianae, 1 liang), *Renshen* (Radix Ginseng, 1 liang, remove rhizome), *Fushen* (Sclerotium Poriae Cum Radix, 1 liang), *Gegen* (Radix Puerariae Lobatae, 1 liang, sliced), *Shigao* (Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 liang), *Huangqin* (Radix Scutellariae, 1 liang), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 1 liang), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 1 liang), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve coarsely to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water and 100 soybeans. Decoct until 6 fen remains. Strain and take warm at any time.

**Digupi San Powder for treating Xiao Zhong with deficiency-emaciation, irritability-heat, dry mouth, and restless sleep:**
* *Digupi* (Cortex Lycii, 2 liang), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 1 liang), *Shigao* (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 1 liang, remove stamens), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve coarsely to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water. Decoct until 6 fen remains. Strain and take warm at any time.

**Huangqi San Powder for treating Xiao Zhong with irritability and unceasing heat-thirst:**
* *Huangqi* (Radix Astragali, 1 liang, sliced), *Maimendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis, 1 liang, remove heart), *Lugen* (Rhizoma Phragmitis, 1 liang, sliced), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 1 liang), *Zisujingye* (Folium Perillae, 1 liang), *Shengdihuang* (Radix Rehmanniae Recens, 0.5 liang, sliced), *Sangbaipi* (Cortex Mori, 0.5 liang, sliced), *Zexie* (Rhizoma Alismatis, 0.5 liang), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 fen, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve finely to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water, 0.5 fen of fresh ginger, and 14 leaves of bamboo (*Zhuye*). Decoct until 6 fen remains. Strain and take warm at any time.

**Muli San Powder for treating Xiao Zhong with mental irritability-heat, dry and emaciated muscles, dark yellow urine, weak legs and knees, and inability to nourish the body despite eating:**
* *Muli* (Concha Ostreae, 3 qian, calcined to powder), *Zhusha* (Cinnabaris, 0.5 liang, finely ground), *Longchi* (Dens Dentis Mammi, 3 qian), *Luhui* (Resina Aloes, 3 qian), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 1 liang, remove stamens), *Tiefen* (Pulvis Ferri, 1 liang, finely ground), *Zexie* (Rhizoma Alismatis, 0.5 liang), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced), *Huandan* (Minium, 1 fen), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 1 liang), *Jineijin* (Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli, 3 qian, fried until yellow).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve finely. Mix evenly with the previously ground ingredients. Take 1 qian at any time, mixed with decoction of barley kernels.

**Qianshuang San Powder for treating chronic Xiao Zhong that does not heal, causing dryness, emaciation, weakness, mental restlessness, and insomnia:**
* *Qianshuang* (Plumbum Subacetatum, 3 qian, finely ground), *Jinbo* (Lamina Aurii, 100 pieces, finely ground), *Yinbo* (Lamina Argentii, 200 pieces, finely ground), *Maimendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis, 1.5 liang, remove heart and dried), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 0.5 liang, remove stamens), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 0.5 liang).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve finely. Mix evenly with the first three metallic/mineral ingredients. Take 1 qian at any time, mixed with thin rice gruel.

**Huangqi Wan Pills for treating Xiao Zhong with unceasing thirst, dark yellow urine, weak legs and knees, and failure to gain flesh despite increased appetite:**
* *Huangqi* (Radix Astragali, 1 liang, sliced), *Muli* (Concha Ostreae, 2 liang, calcined to powder), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 0.5 liang), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced), *Maimendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis, 1.5 liang, remove heart and dried), *Digupi* (Cortex Lycii, 0.5 liang), *Baizhishi* (Kaolin, 0.5 liang), *Zexie* (Rhizoma Alismatis, 0.5 liang), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 0.5 liang), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 0.5 liang, remove stamens), *Shanyao* (Rhizoma Dioscoreae, 0.5 liang).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve into powder. Mix with refined honey, pound 200-300 times. Form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 30 pills at any time, washed down with thin rice gruel.

**Qianshuang Wan Pills for treating Xiao Zhong with thirst, insufficient water intake, mental restlessness, dry-hot limbs, and restless sleep:**
* *Qianshuang* (Plumbum Subacetatum, 3 qian, finely ground), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 1.5 liang), *Gancao* (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and sliced), *Shigao* (Gypsum Fibrosum, 3 qian, finely ground), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 3 qian), *Zixin* (Radix Scutellariae, 3 qian), *Tiefen* (Pulvis Ferri, 0.5 liang, finely ground), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 0.5 liang, remove stamens), *Zhusha* (Cinnabaris, 0.5 liang, finely ground).

* *Fushen* (Sclerotium Poriae Cum Radix, 1 liang), *Digupi* (Cortex Lycii, 0.5 liang), *Huangqi* (Radix Astragali, 0.5 liang, sliced), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 0.5 liang), *Muli* (Concha Ostreae, 1 liang, calcined to powder), *Gualougen* (Radix Trichosanthis, 3 qian), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 3 qian, remove stamens), *Maimendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis, 2 liang, remove heart and dried), *Shudihuang* (Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, 1 liang).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve into powder. Mix with refined honey, pound 200-300 times. Form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 30 pills at any time, washed down with thin rice gruel.

**Zexie Wan Pills for treating Xiao Zhong with unceasing thirst, frequent urination, irritability-heat, and limb weakness:**
* *Zexie* (Rhizoma Alismatis, 1 liang), *Maimendong* (Radix Ophiopogonis, 2 liang, remove heart and dried), *Cheqianzi* (Semen Plantaginis, 0.5 liang), *Huanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 3 qian, remove stamens), *Muli* (Concha Ostreae, 1 liang, calcined to powder), *Sangpiaoxiao* (Oötheca Mantidis, 0.5 liang, lightly stir-fried), *Jineijin* (Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried), *Jinbo* (Lamina Aurii, 50 pieces, ground).
Process the above herbs: crush and sieve into powder. Mix evenly with the previously ground ingredients. Mix with refined honey, pound 200-300 times. Form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 30 pills at any time, washed down with silkworm pupae decoction.

**Shenxiao Formula for treating Xiao Zhong with unceasing thirst, mental irritability-heat, and dry skin:**
* *Fupingcao* (Herba Lemnae, 3 liang, dried), *Tugua-gen* (Radix Cucumis Tricuspidati, 1.5 liang).
