For the treatment of Liver Qi deficiency and cold syndrome, characterized by distension and fullness in both hypochondria, spasm and tension of tendons and vessels, pain in the lower back, knees, and lower abdomen, bluish complexion, and locked jaw, the *Buzhu Gan Baiziren San* (Supplementing the Liver with Biota Seed Powder) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *Biota Semen* (Baiziren, 3 fen), *Asarum Herba* (Xixin, 3 fen), *Saposhnikovia Radix* (Fangfeng, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Poria* (Fushen, 3 fen), *Testudinis et Chelydrae Carapax et Plastrum* (Biejia, 2 liang, coated with vinegar and roasted until yellow, remove skirt edge).

For the treatment of Liver Qi deficiency and cold syndrome, characterized by fullness under both hypochondria, tendon tension, inability to take deep breaths (da xi), cold extremities, and heart/abdominal pain, the *Buzhu Gan Bai Fuling San* (Supplementing the Liver with White Poria Powder) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *White Poria* (Bai Fuling, 3 fen), *Saposhnikovia Radix* (Fangfeng, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Biota Semen* (Baiziren, 3 fen), *Asarum Herba* (Xixin, 3 fen), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui, half liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried), *Aurantii Fructus Immaturus* (Binglang Qiao, 3 fen, remove pulp).

[Preparation and Administration]: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan of water, half a ban of fresh ginger, and three jujubes. Decoct together until the volume reduces to six-tenths. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods.

For the treatment of Liver organ deficiency and cold syndrome, characterized by stagnation of qi in the chest and diaphragm, cold extremities, and pain in both hypochondria, the *Buzhu Gan Xixin San* (Supplementing the Liver with Asarum Powder) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *Asarum Herba* (Xixin, 1 fen), *Persicae Semen* (Taoren, 3 fen, soaked in hot water, peel and remove tips and double kernels, lightly stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow), *Peucedani Radix* (Qianhu, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui, 3 fen, sliced and lightly stir-fried), *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata* (Fuzi, 3 fen, processed until cracked, peel and remove umbilicus), *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Chen Jupi, 3 fen, soaked in hot water, remove white pith and dried), *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Biota Semen* (Baiziren, half ban), *Cinnamomi Cortex* (Guixin, 3 fen).

[Ingredients]: *Saposhnikovia Radix* (Fangfeng, 1 liang, remove radicle), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong, 3 fen), *Astragali Membranacei Radix* (Huangqi, 3 fen, sliced), *Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus* (Wuweizi, 3 fen), *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Poria* (Fushen), *Ziziphi Spinosae Semen* (Suanzaoren, half liang, lightly stir-fried).

For the treatment of Liver wind-deficiency syndrome, characterized by discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, blurred vision, mental restlessness, and dizziness, the *Buzhu Gan Shuyu San* (Supplementing the Liver with Yam Powder) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma* (Shuyu, 3 fen), *Saposhnikovia Radix* (Fangfeng, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Corni Officinalis Fructus* (Shanzhuyu, half liang), *Aurantii Fructus* (Zhike, half liang, lightly stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow, remove pulp), *Chrysanthemi Indici Flos* (Gan Juhua, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata* (Shu Dihuang, half liang), *Borneolum Syntheticum* (Longnao, small amount), *Moschus* (Shexiang, small amount).

[Preparation and Administration]: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix in Borneolum Syntheticum and Moschus evenly. Take at any time without restriction. Administer 1 qian mixed with clear millet gruel broth. Avoid alcohol and damp wheat products.

For the treatment of Liver deficiency, characterized by unclear head and eyes, excessive irritability in the heart and diaphragm, and painful tendon tension, the *Buzhu Gan Juhua San* (Supplementing the Liver with Chrysanthemum Powder) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *Chrysanthemi Indici Flos* (Gan Juhua, 3 fen), *Peucedani Radix* (Qianhu, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Saposhnikovia Radix* (Fangfeng, 3 fen, remove radicle), *Cassiae Semen* (Juemingzi, 3 fen), *Astragali Membranacei Radix* (Huangqi, 3 fen, sliced), *Lycii Fructus* (Gouqizi, 3 fen).

[Preparation and Administration]: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take at any time without restriction. Administer 1 qian mixed with gruel broth.

For the treatment of Liver deficiency-cold syndrome, characterized by bluish-yellow complexion, chest and hypochondriac distension, impaired tendon mobility, soreness and pain in the back and shoulders, emaciation, and weakness, the *Buzhu Gan Baiziren Wan* (Supplementing the Liver with Biota Seed Pill) formula is indicated.

[Ingredients]: *Biota Semen* (Baiziren, 1 liang), *Astragali Membranacei Radix* (Huangqi, 1 liang, sliced), *White Poria* (Bai Fuling, 1 liang), *Tribuli Fructus* (Jili Shi, 1 liang), *Rubi Ching-Shanii Fructus* (Fupenzi, 1 liang), *Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus* (Wuweizi, 1 liang, remove hairs, coat with vinegar and roast until yellow), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao, 1 liang).

[Preparation and Administration]: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with refined honey and pound for three to two hundred strikes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, washed down with warm wine. Take on an empty stomach and before evening meal. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods.
