Vipera (Fushe) is not very long in body shape, has a flattened head, pointed mouth, spotted head, and red patterned body. There are also green or black varieties. When bitten by it, the snake's head and abdomen are usually touching the ground. They are abundant in the eastern mountains, possessing the most potent venom. One must be extremely cautious when walking through grass. Another type resembles Vipera but is shorter and has four legs.

This snake has no fixed form, with the largest being no more than four or five cun long. People commonly call it the Green Strip Snake (Qingtiaoshe).
