When a metallic wound (Jinchuang) causes blood to flow internally, it is termed "internal leakage" (Neilou). If the patient experiences distension in both hypochondriac regions and inability to eat, death ensues. This occurs because stasis of blood (Yuxue) collides within the interior, causing abdominal distension. If the pulse is firm and large (Laoda), survival is possible; if the pulse is deep (Chen), death ensues.
To treat internal leakage from metallic wounds and abdominal distension caused by stasis of blood in the abdomen, the Mengchong San (Mebus Powder) formula is indicated.
Ingredients: Mebus (Mengchong, 30 pieces, wings and feet removed, lightly stir-fried); Peach Kernel (Taoren, 1 liang, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, retaining the double kernel, bran-fried until slightly yellow); Cinnamon Heart (Guixin, 1.5 liang); Rhubarb (Dahuang, 3 liang, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried); Leech (Shuizhi, 30 pieces, fried until slightly yellow).
The above ingredients are finely ground and sifted to make a powder. Each dose consists of 2 qian. Take one cup of urine from an uncircumcised boy (Tongzi Xiaobian), decoct until reduced to 0.5 cup. Drink warm, including the dregs. Administer five times during the day and three times at night. If urine from an uncircumcised boy is unavailable, a mixture of wine and water may be used as a substitute.
For treating metallic wounds where blood leaks internally into the abdomen:
Ingredients: Hemp Seed (Damaizi, 1 sheng); White part of Scallion (Bai Cong, 14 stalks).
Mix the above ingredients and pound them thoroughly. Add three cups of water and boil down to obtain one and a half cups of liquid. Strain out the dregs. Divide into three doses. If bleeding is not fully resolved and there is pus and blood in the abdomen, continue administration. Expulsion of pus and blood will occur, yielding effective results.
Another formula:
Ingredients: Pollen Typhae (Puhuang, 1 liang); Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 2 liang, powdered).
Mix the above ingredients and grind them evenly. For each dose, mix 1 qian with warm wine and ingest. Administer four to five times daily.
Another formula:
Ingredients: Mebus (Mengchong, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried until slightly yellow); Moutan Cortex (Mudan, 2 liang).
Grind the above ingredients finely and sift to make a powder. Before meals, take 2 qian mixed with warm wine. Administer four to five times daily.
For treating metallic wounds with internal leakage of blood, apply Hufen San externally:
Ingredients: Lead Carbonate (Hufen, 3 fen); Dried Ginger (Ganjiang, 1 fen, processed until cracked and cut); Fresh Chestnut (Sheng Lizi, 2 fen, dried in shade and peeled).
Grind and sieve the above ingredients into a powder. Apply directly to the wound for cure.
For treating metallic wounds where blood leaks internally and accumulates in the abdomen without exiting:
Take Moutan Cortex (Mudan), grind finely and sift to make a powder. Take 2 qian mixed with warm wine at any time.
Another formula:
Apply fresh Artemisia Annua (Qinghao) externally. It strongly stops bleeding and alleviates pain.
Another formula:
Apply lard (Zhigao) pounded into a paste externally. It stops bleeding, promotes flesh regeneration, relieves pain, and reduces edema. Alternatively, melt it into oil, soak the affected area, and keep away from wind; this is also effective.
Another formula:
Pound Portulaca Oleracea (Machixian) to extract juice. Warm and drink one small cup to stop bleeding. It also treats evil blood (Exue) in the abdomen.
Another formula:
Apply powder of Zhihan externally. Alternatively, apply equal parts of prepared Mugwort Woe (Shuai Ai) and Musk (Shexiang) powder externally; this is also excellent.
