(This condition is also known as Xuan Yong (Hanging Abscess), presenting with sores resembling purple grapes, difficulty in tongue extension and retraction, inability to open or close the mouth, epistaxis (nosebleed), and intermittent chills and fever.) Urgently use salt (heated until red-hot) and Alum (Alumen), grind them into fine powder in equal proportions, and apply/dot onto the abscess.

For large sores with slow pain, swelling that is shiny and discolored caused by hair, wasp nest (Feng Fang), or snake slough (She Tui), burn these three ingredients in equal proportions until the medicinal properties are retained (charred but not fully ashed), grind into powder, take 1.5 qian per dose, and swallow with yellow wine.

Cow dung (must be old dung from mountains), bake until dry and grind into powder, apply and compress to the affected area several times.

Mulberry leaf (boil in vinegar for one boil then immediately remove), apply externally to the sore; this is very effective.

For Yu Kou Bian Du (Fish Mouth and Perineal Abscess) before it has ruptured, one dose will eliminate it: Prepared Turtle Shell (Biejia, Zhi) 1 qian, Stir-fried Pangolin Scales (Chuanshanjia, Chao) 1 qian, Whole Turtle (Chao) 7 pieces, Raw Rhubarb (Sheng Dahuang) 3 fen, decoct in water and take orally.

Pine Rosin (Songxiang) 1 liang, Hemp Seeds (Damaizi) 7 grains, Verdigris (Tonglv) 3 small pieces, grind together into fine powder, place inside an old scallion tube, and soak in sesame oil; the longer it ages, the better. When using, remove the scallion tube, hold it firmly with chopsticks with the opening facing downward, place a porcelain bowl underneath, gently heat the scallion tube with fire to let the medicinal liquid drip into the bowl, wait until completely cooled, then apply to the affected area.

Another prescription: Lychee Seed (Lizhi He) and Longan Seed (Guiyuan He) in equal proportions, roast on a tile until the medicinal properties are retained, grind into powder, and take with boiled water.

One silkworm moth burned to ash, mixed with wine and taken orally; silkworm cocoons can also be used.

Male rat feces where both ends are pointed are authentic; grind and apply topically.

Dark Plum (Wumei) burned until the medicinal properties are retained, ground into powder and sprinkled on the wound; it can escharotic necrotic flesh. If there are parasites, grind Purslane (Machixian) into powder, mix with honey, apply to the site, and the parasites will emerge spontaneously.

For all ulcerating sores that fail to heal: Use eggshells from eggs incubated by hens, burn to ash, mix with sesame oil, and apply. For various malignant sores, tinea, and prurigo: Burn donkey dung to ash and sprinkle, or mix with vinegar and apply.

For widespread malignant sores and leprosy-like itching: Kochia Scoparia Diffrus Fructus (Dicifuzi) 0.5 sheng, decoct in water and wash frequently.

Swallow's Nest Mud (Yanwo Ni) mixed with egg white applied externally, or Purslane (Machixian) crushed for juice application.

For bleeding from ceramic shard puncture wounds: Take foam from the mouth of an old duck, rub and apply.

A secret formula for all Ding Chuang (carbuncles/furuncles), malignant toxins, and carbuncles/ulcers, whether formed or unformed (named Wu Hu Qin Yang Dan / Five Tigers Catching Sheep Pill): Croton Seed (Badou) 2 grains (wrapped in cloth and pressed to remove oil), Garden Soot (Baicaoshuang) 1 qian, Soap Bean (Ya Zao, peeled and pitted) 2 qian, Small Red Dates (Xiao Hongzao, peeled and pitted) 3 pieces, Cinnabar (Zhusha) 2 qian. Pound together to make pills the size of Torreya seeds. Take 8 pills per dose (reduce by half for children), swallow with yellow wine. Afterwards, cover warmly and sleep quietly; sweating indicates recovery. Avoid startling noises/shocks. Contraindicated for pregnant women. Suitable for those with strong constitution to administer.
