When using acupuncture, first perform the "Dragon" method: with the left hand holding the needle, twist to the right until a number of nine is reached. Then perform the "Tiger" method: with the right hand (or following the specific manipulation sequence), twist to the left until a number of six is reached. This constitutes the rotation of Dragon followed by Tiger, aiming to obtain Qi and provide tonification. Thus, Yang contains Yin, and Yin contains Yang, adhering to the principle of contrary treatment, thereby harmonizing pathogenic factors with healthy Qi.
The technique for using needles involves inserting the needle by twisting forward with the thumb of the dominant hand and backward with the other hand. Once Qi is obtained, push and rotate the needle forward, flick the needle handle with the thumb to guide the ascending of Yang Qi, and press while lifting the needle, allowing the Qi to circulate spontaneously. If there is no response from the Qi, repeat the procedure as described previously.
Upon inserting the needle, regulate the Qi to ensure uniformity. By applying the numerical principles of "nine insertions and six withdrawals" in accordance with Yin and Yang, the disease will heal naturally.
When using acupuncture, initially insert the needle five fen deep, performing the number of Nine Yang. If heat is perceived, deepen the insertion to one cun and perform the number of Six Yin, taking the arrival of Qi as the desired response. This method can treat conditions characterized by initial cold followed by heat.
When using acupuncture, initially insert the needle one cun deep, performing the number of Six Yin. If the patient feels slightly cool, gradually withdraw the needle to five fen deep, then perform the number of Nine Yang. This is known as "Yin hiding within Yang," which can treat conditions characterized by initial heat followed by cold.
When using acupuncture, first perform the number of Nine Yang, inserting the needle five fen deep. Upon obtaining Qi, continue advancing the needle gradually into the interior of one cun. Then, withdraw the needle slowly three times and insert it quickly three times. If heat is felt, immediately close the acupoint; the hot sensation will return promptly, eliminating the cold pathology. If ineffective, repeat the procedure as described.
When using acupuncture, initially insert the needle to the depth of one cun, performing the number of Six Yin. If Qi is obtained, advance and extend the needle, then gradually withdraw to five fen deep. Insert the needle slowly three times and withdraw it quickly three times. The needle will feel tight; lift it slowly. As a cold sensation gradually arises, the heat pathology will heal. If ineffective, repeat the procedure.
When using acupuncture, initially insert the needle seven fen deep, performing the pure Yang number. If Qi is obtained, deepen the puncture, slightly extend and lift the needle, then withdraw it back to the original position. Upon obtaining Qi again, follow the previous method. This can treat disorders such as accumulations and masses (Pi and Jia).
When using acupuncture, first perform the pure Yang number. If a sense of fullness of Qi is felt under the needle, lay the needle horizontally (flat) and instruct the patient to inhale five times, causing the Qi of the needle to ascend. This is a method of advancing the needle. It can treat wandering pain in the elbows, arms, waist, legs, and body.
