Answer: Blood coagulates when cold and disperses when warm. Abortion or injury to the meridians resulting in continuous bleeding has two causes: one is due to heat causing blood to flow and scatter, and the other is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood failing to contain it. Excessive blood loss will inevitably lead to death from restlessness and stifling oppression. If abortion is caused by wind-cold, the cold blood clashes with each other, and due to Qi deficiency with rebellious upward movement, the blood coagulates and fails to discharge. If the blood rushes upward to attack the Heart, restlessness and stifling oppression occur, which also often leads to death. In such cases, one should warm the meridians and expel cold, allowing the blood to flow naturally.
