Answer: The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) are the seas of menstrual blood, both originating from the Bao Zhong (uterus). The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian and the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian are exteriorly-interiorly related. During pregnancy, they gather Qi and Blood to nourish the fetus; after childbirth, this accumulated essence transforms into milk. If the Qi of the Chong and Ren vessels is deficient and fails to control menstrual blood, it results in irregular menstruation and intermittent bleeding during pregnancy, known as "Lou Bao" (Leaking Womb). If the bleeding does not stop, it can lead to death.
Zhi Lou San (Stop Leaking Powder): Treats Lou Bao during pregnancy.
Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, 4 liang), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, 2 liang).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with rice water on an empty stomach.
Another prescription: Yi Zhi Ren (Alpinia Oxyphylla Fruit), quantity unrestricted, ground into a fine powder, taken with rice water. Subsequently, use Xiang Fu (Cyperus Rotundus Rhizome) and Gan Cao (Licorice Root) ground into powder, formed into pills with vinegar paste. Swallow 20-30 pills while decocting Si Wu Tang (Four Substance Decoction) without Shu Di Huang and Li Zhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Pill) without Gan Jiang. This is very effective.
E Jiao San (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder): Treats restless fetus and abdominal pain caused by leaking fetus.
E Jiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, 1 liang, stir-fried with蛤粉 [Arcae Shell Powder] until yellow), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Sang Ji Sheng (Taxillus Sinesis, 1.5 liang each), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones, 3 fen), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, 1 liang, sliced and stir-fried), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, honey-fried), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 1 liang), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, 3 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome, 3 qian), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, 0.5 liang, processed and sliced).
Cut the above herbs. Take 4 qian each time, with 1.5 cups of water and 3 jujubes, decoct to 60% volume, strain, and take hot. Time is unrestricted.
Fo Shou San (Buddha's Hand Powder): Treats women at 5-7 months of pregnancy who suffer from fetal trauma due to physical impact, or retained dead fetus causing persistent lochia discharge and pain, trismus (lockjaw), and near-syncope. Use this medicine to probe. If the fetus is undamaged, pain ceases, and mother and child are safe. If the fetus is damaged, it will be expelled immediately. (Do not use wine for fetuses intended to be secured.)
Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, 6 liang), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome, 3 liang).
Grind the above into a coarse powder. Take 3 qian each time, with 1 cup of water, decoct until nearly dry, then add 1.5 cups of wine, boil only once, strain, and take warm. If trismus occurs, administer via gavage. Re-administer after walking five to seven li. Not more than two or three doses; birth will occur upon administration.
Jiao Ai Tang (Gelatin and Mugwort Decoction): For restless fetus due to falls or strenuous activity regardless of gestational age, accompanied by urgency and tightness in the lower back and abdomen, hematemesis, vaginal bleeding, or fetal gas rushing upward piercing the heart causing shortness of breath. Used to secure the fetus.
Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, 2 liang), Bai Ai Ye (Mugwort Leaf, stir-fried), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried), Shao Yao (Peony Root), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), E Jiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, stir-fried, 1 liang each).
Cut the above herbs. Take 1.5 cups of water per dose, decoct to 70%, strain, and take hot. If there is cold sensation in the chest, add 5 slices of Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) and 3 jujubes, take before meals. For deficient persons, add Huang Qi (Astragalus Membranaceus Root, 1 liang).
Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Poria Pills): Treats existing masses (Zheng Jia) where menstruation stops during pregnancy, with fetal movement occurring before three months, indicating a mass condition. If menstruation stops for three months but spotting persists, and fetal movement is felt above the umbilicus, it is a chronic pathological accumulation that must be removed. Another discussion states: Fetal movement at six months of pregnancy; if bleeding occurred when menstruation was regular in the first three months, and has ceased for the next three months, the continued bleeding is due to the persistence of the mass.
Gui Xin (Cinnamon Bark), Bai Fu Ling (Poria), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Tao Ren (Peach Seed, stir-fried), Bai Shao Yao (White Peony Root).
Grind the above into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of quail eggs. Take one pill each time with warm wine or rice water, chewing thoroughly before taking before meals.
Yan Shi Question 3: Why does spontaneous bleeding occur in Lou Jing (Fetal Leakage)? Answer: In pregnancy, even if the fetus is formed, its vital breath (Tai Xi) may not yet be stable. Causes include sexual intercourse, fright, overexertion, damaging the uterine sac, or consuming toxic substances, leading to uterine deficiency and slipping, resulting in dripping menstrual blood. If not treated urgently, stagnant blood attacks the heart, endangering both mother and child. As months pass, the fetus dries up, and death is imminent.
Sang Ji Sheng (Taxillus Sinesis), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, wine-soaked), Chuan Xu Duan (Teasel Root, wine-soaked), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, wood removed), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Xiang Fu (Cyperus Rotundus Rhizome), E Jiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, stir-fried with Arcae Shell Powder), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 1 liang each), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 0.5 liang each).
Cut the above herbs. Take 4 qian each time, with 1.5 cups of water and 5 slices of ginger, decoct to 70%, take hot, time unrestricted.
