Answer: The human heart has seven apertures and three hairs. After childbirth, the blood and qi are disordered, leading to the stagnation of retained blood (retained blood), which blocks the orifices of the heart, causing the spirit and consciousness to be unclear. Furthermore, the heart qi connects to the tongue; when heart qi is blocked, the tongue becomes stiff. Thus, speechlessness occurs. One should simply administer Qizhen San (Seven Treasures Powder).
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 1 liang), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian 5 fen), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (0.5 liang), Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris) (0.5 liang, ground).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian each time, mixed with Yinjin Bohe Tang (Decoction of Honeysuckle Twig and Menthae Haplocalycis Herba). Take at any time.
Jiaogan Dihuang Wan (Interacting Rehmannia Pill). Treats women before and after childbirth who see blackness before their eyes, or immediately become manic, appearing as if seeing ghosts, with retained placenta, loss of voice and speechlessness, abdominal distension and fullness, and inability to digest food and water.
Sheng Di Huang (Fresh Rehmanniae Radix) (wash clean, grind, squeeze juice through cloth, retain dregs; stir-fry dregs with ginger juice, stir-fry fresh ginger with Rehmannia juice, alternating until dry), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Zingiberis Rhizoma) (wash, peel, grind, squeeze juice through cloth, retain dregs, each 2 jin), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang), Hu Po (Amber) (separately ground, 1 liang), Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizoma) (stir-fried with glutinous rice until red, remove rice), Pu Huang (Typhae Pollen) (stir-fried), Xiao Hui Xiang (Foeniculi Fructus) (4 liang).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of quail eggs. Dissolve one pill in Dang Gui Tang (Decoction of Angelicae Sinensis Radix) before meals.
Answer: After childbirth, the spleen and stomach are weak, making them susceptible to invasion by cold pathogens. If within one month, one drinks cold liquids or exposes oneself to wind, the pathogen invades due to deficiency, remaining in the chest and diaphragm, spreading to the abdomen and hypochondrium. Thus, abdominal pain occurs in paroxysms, feeling like stabbing with awls or knives. It flows into the large intestine, causing indigestion, profuse watery diarrhea, and borborygmus. Or there may be dysentery with red and white discharge, hypochondriac distension, or wandering pain. Administer Tiaozhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) urgently for immediate recovery. If the physician mistakes this for accumulation and stagnation and uses purgatives, disaster will follow swiftly.
Tiaozhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction)
Gao Liang Jiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 1 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang).
Coarsely crush the above ingredients. Take 3 qian each time, add 2 zhan of water, decoct to 1 zhan, remove dregs, and take hot. Take on an empty stomach and before meals.
Dingtong San (Stop Pain Powder). Treats postpartum lochia that does not stop, unbearable heat pain in the abdomen, and unsettled fetus.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix) (each 2 liang), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Cortex) (1 liang).
Coarsely crush the above ingredients. Take 2 qian each time, add 1.5 zhan of water, add [missing character, likely Sheng Jiang] one large piece crushed, decoct to 6/10, remove dregs, and take warm. If profuse watery diarrhea and borborygmus occur, add Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) and Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) to take together.
Another prescription. Treats postpartum blood stasis with unceasing pain.
Shengliao Wuji San (Raw Material Five Accumulations Powder), add Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Gao Liang Jiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma), Ding Xiang (Eugeniae Flos), Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex). Use boiled wine and Tong Bian (Child's Urine) each 1 zhan, take hot for immediate effect.
Another prescription. Use only Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) powder mixed with good wine and taken orally, for immediate effect.
