月经提前为热证。适宜使用凉药以退热。热退之后表现为虚证,适宜使用温药以补虚。将二者区分开来,仔细辨证后使用。然而如果能服用养血、益血、补脾胃的各类药物,月经自然就会来潮。

Menstruation arriving early indicates Heat syndrome. It is appropriate to use cooling medicines to clear the heat. After the heat subsides, deficiency manifests; it is appropriate to use warming medicines to tonify the deficiency. Differentiate between the two and apply them after careful examination. However, if one can take various medicines that nourish blood, benefit blood, and tonify the spleen and stomach, menstruation will naturally resume.

Decoct in water, take slightly warm before meals. If five-palm heat (heat sensation in palms, soles, and chest) or tidal fever at dusk (worsening of fever between 3-5 PM) occurs, add Hulan (Coptidis Rhizoma variant/Anemarrhenae Rhizoma context dependent, here likely Coptis or similar bitter cold herb, strictly "Hu Lian" refers to Anemarrhenae Rhizoma in some contexts but often Coptis in older texts for heat; WHO term: Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) 0.5 qian. For poor appetite, add Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) and Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, stir-fried, each 0.5 qian). For headache, add Chuanxiong (0.7 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.

Grind all into powder. Take 2 qian per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with hot wine. Alternatively, take with mint decoction mixed with vinegar. This formula strongly promotes menstruation and is suitable for blood stagnation. If the symptoms match but one fears taking it, this harms oneself in treating the illness. Only then can it be taken without error.
For women with blood heat causing early menstruation, and those with vigorous qi and phlegm-fire, taking the following formula facilitates pregnancy.
