[Da] During pregnancy, if dysuria (dysuria) occurs, it is caused by deficiency-heat in the Kidney and Bladder failing to control water metabolism. However, since the uterus (uterus) is connected to the Kidney in pregnant women, deficiency-heat arising from the Kidney leads to this syndrome. In severe cases, it manifests as mental restlessness and chest oppression, a condition named Zi Lin (submarine strangury).
[Xue] For the aforementioned syndrome, if accompanied by spasms of the neck tendons, slurred speech, and excessive phlegm, Lingyang Jiao San (Antelope Horn Decoction) should be used. (Applicable for body pain.) If urine is scanty,涩滞 (astringent/stagnant), and dribbling, An Rong San (Anrong Powder) should be used. If it is damp-heat in the Liver channel, Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction) should be used. (Applicable for various diseases of the external genitalia.) If it is deficiency-heat in the Liver channel, Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) should be used. If there are muscle cramps in the legs and feet accompanied by difficult urination, Ba Wei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) must be administered urgently; otherwise, it will be incurable. If dryness-inducing agents were taken leading to frequent or difficult urination, Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Fu Ling (Poria), Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) should be used. If urination is frequent with yellow color, Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with added Huang Bo, Zhi Mu, Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), and Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix) should be used. If Qi deficiency of the Lung leads to shortness of urine volume, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with added Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) and Mai Men Dong should be used. If uterine prolapse (Yin Ting) and flaccid paralysis accompany frequent urination, Di Huang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) should be used. If heat accumulation in the Bladder causes difficult urination, Wu Lin San (Five Stranguries Powder) should be used. (Applicable for strangury.) If dryness of the Spleen and Lung prevents transformation and generation, Huang Qin Qing Fei Yin (Scutellaria Lung-Clearing Decoction) is suitable. (Applicable for strangury.) If Bladder Yin deficiency results in Yang having no source for generation, Zi Shen Wan (Nourish Kidney Pill) should be used. (Applicable for strangury.) If Bladder Yang deficiency results in Yin having no source for transformation, Shen Qi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill) should be used. One woman experienced fever and flank distension upon every anger, with dribbling and astringent urination. When menstruation occurred, symptoms persisted for over ten days. At three months of pregnancy, due to anger, previous symptoms recurred. She took Jia Wei Xiao Yao San in the morning and An Tai Yin (Fetus-Calming Decoction) in the evening, two doses each, which stabilized the condition. In the fifth month, anger again triggered vaginal bleeding resembling menstruation, lasting four days. The same medicines were used again, resulting in recovery. Another pregnant woman, after eating and becoming angry, experienced alternating chills and fever, vomiting, headache, aversion to cold, chest and abdominal distension and pain, loose stools, and a bluish complexion. Urination was frequent, occasionally bloody. Medicines for calming the fetus and stopping bleeding worsened the condition. I said: Chills, fever, vomiting, and abdominal distension indicate Liver Wood overacting on Spleen Earth, damaging Yuan Qi (Original Qi). Loose stools and bluish complexion indicate dietary injury to the Spleen, compounded by Liver Qi insulting Spleen Earth. Frequent urination with blood indicates Liver Heat transmitting to the Uterus, accompanied by Yin Ting and flaccid paralysis. Six Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) with Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus), Zi Su (Perillae Folium), and Shan Zhi (Gardeniae Fructus) was used for two doses, restoring Spleen and Stomach function. Then, Jia Wei Xiao Yao San with Zi Su and Zhi Ke was used for two doses, clearing the urine immediately. Later, regulation of diet led to stability.
