Boil for several times, strain the dregs, add warm wine, and take at any time.
Diyu San (Groundsel Powder): Treats Bai Xue (败血 - decaying blood).
Herbs: He Shou Wu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Di Yu (Sanguisorbae Radix), Xiang Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (equal parts).
Grind the above herbs into coarse powder. Take 2 qian per dose, with 1.5 liang of rice washing water and a small piece of rock sugar. Decoct until 0.8 liang remains, strain, and take on an empty stomach before meals.
Single prescriptions from *Ben Cao* (*Compendium of Materia Medica*): To eliminate Yu Xue (瘀血 - blood stasis), drink fresh lotus root juice. Scrape amber powder and take with water. If Yu Xue does not dissipate and transforms into Yong (痈 - carbuncle/abscess), crush fresh Qing Hao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba), extract one sheng of juice, and take it. To remove old blood in the abdomen, eat many dried persimmons to cure. To break old blood, burn a whetstone black, throw it hot into wine, and drink. Or decoct Zi Jing Mu (Cercidiphylli Lignum) strongly and take it.
[Pi]
[Large type]: Located inside the abdomen near the umbilicus on the left and right sides, there is each a tendon meridian that contracts and hurts. The large ones are as thick as an arm, the smaller ones as thick as a finger. Formed by Qi stagnation, they resemble a string, named "Pi" (癖 - abdominal mass/tumor). Another type of "Pi" is located obliquely between the two hypochondria, causing intermittent pain, hence called "Pi". Both conditions result from disharmony of Yin and Yang, obstruction of meridians, stagnation of food and drink, and failure of circulation. Pathogenic cold Qi binds and does not disperse; upon exposure to cold, pain attacks occur.
Shexiang Wan (Musk Pill): Treats women's Pi accumulation, accompanied by Cold Qi and Zhu Qi (注气 - infectious or wandering pathogenic qi), causing unbearable heart and abdominal pain.
Herbs: She Xiang (Moschus) (half liang, separately ground), A Wei (Ferulae Resina) (two and a half qian, wrapped in flour and roasted until flour is cooked), Wu Ling Zhi (Trogopterori Faeces), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen), San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma) (each seven and a half qian), Yuan Hua (Genkwa Flos) (stir-fried with vinegar), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) (each one liang), E Zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Mo Yao (Myrrha), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each half liang).
Grind the above herbs (except Musk) into fine powder, mix evenly with Musk. Use soft glutinous rice as a binder to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take ten pills per dose at any time, with light vinegar soup.
Divine efficacy prescription for treating women's Pi accumulation and Blood-Qi disorders.
Take one pig liver, weighing about ten liang. Insert fifty peeled bitter almonds (Ba Dou) into the liver. Simmer the liver in three bowls of strong vinegar over slow fire until extremely soft. Mix in powdered Jing San Leng (Bupleuri Radix or Sparganii Rhizoma variant) to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take five pills before meals with warm wine. After the liver is cooked, remove the Ba Dou and discard. Pi, Ji (accumulation), and Jia (mass) are all hard masses formed by Blood and Qi stagnation. Attacks cause stabbing pain, sometimes life-threatening. Fundamentally, these are caused by Blood pathology.
I once treated a woman with unbearable Blood-Qi stabbing pain who even fell unconscious for one or two days before regaining consciousness. Despite treatment by doctors and shamans for years without success, I cured her using Cong Bai San (Scallion White Powder) and Wu Ji Wan (Black Chicken Pill). I also treated another woman whose Blood-Qi pain felt like a small plate moving around causing stabbing pain, requiring someone to press down on her body to relieve it slightly. This was also cured with these two medicines. For ordinary mild Blood-Qi disorders, these two medicines also have miraculous effects, so they are recorded hereafter.
Cong Bai San (Scallion White Powder): Specifically treats all types of Cold Qi disharmony, and pain caused by Qi attacking from the relevant organ and Bladder Meridian. It greatly treats abdominal pain before and after childbirth, fetal restlessness, or Blood stabbing pain. It also treats old cold in the Blood organs, fatigue and pain in all joints, weak physique, labor injury, leukorrhea, and Pi accumulation. Long-term use eliminates all ailments. However, this medicine is most suitable for all diseases in women.
Herbs: Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix), Bo Shang Xiang (Agarwood), Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Ku Lian Zi (Meliae Semen), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Mai Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma), E Zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma), Fu Ling (Poria), Shen Qu (Massae Fermentatae Medicamentosa), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (equal parts).
Grind into fine powder. Take three ping qian per dose with one liang of water, two cun of scallion white with roots (crushed), and half a qian of salt. Decoct until 0.7 liang remains. Add Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and He Zi (Terminalia Chebulae Fructus). Adjust according to symptoms: if stool is difficult, add Da Huang to decoct, do not add salt. If stool is loose, add He Zi to decoct.
Mr. Zhu said: This medicine greatly treats Heart Qi and Spleen pain, with effective results. I once used this medicine to treat edema with immediate effect. Lady Chen suffered from Blood-Qi pain, unbearable, ineffective with other medicines. Upon my diagnosis, her Guan pulses were deep and weak indicating Liver pulse, deep and slightly tight, suggesting Blood-Qi gradually forming Pi accumulation. Cured using only these two medicines. The wife of Ma Chaofeng in Siming also suffered from this and was cured with these two medicines.

[Shan Jia]
[Large type]: Women's Shan Jia arises from irregular diet, imbalance of cold and heat, exhaustion of Blood and Qi, weakness of Zang-Fu organs, wind-cold entering the abdomen, and binding with Blood. "Shan" refers to pain; "Jia" refers to false appearance. The mass floats and causes pain, moving when pushed. Women's diseases differ from men's. Some arise from postpartum Blood deficiency and cold invasion, others from menstrual cycles and excessive cold intake. Not solely due to dietary irregularities, but often compounded by Blood and Qi disorders. Pulse string-tight indicates survival; pulse weak-small indicates death. Chi pulse rough and floating-firm indicates Blood excess and Qi deficiency. Attacks involve abdominal pain and counterflow Qi upward, indicating Evil Blood in the uterus, which eventually forms Blood Jia.
[Xue] Zihe said: Enuresis, stranguria, impotence, bladder bi, spermatorrhea, and leukorrhea are men's Shan diseases. If Blood dries up and menstruation stops, or if a mass appears in the lower abdomen after menstruation, moves occasionally, anterior yin protrudes, posterior yin has hemorrhoids, these are women's Shan diseases. However, women do not call them Shan but Jia.
