Treats apoplexy (stroke), where the patient is unconscious, with deviation of the mouth and eyes, hemiplegia, phlegm-rattling in the throat, and obstruction by phlegm-qi rising upward. Lady Miao, aged sixty-five or sixty-six, suddenly suffered apoplexy, became unconscious, had no sweat but had phlegm. Her family had already prepared funeral arrangements, and most physicians deemed her incurable. I was summoned to examine her; the six pulses were floating and slow, and the spleen pulse overflowed beyond the Guan position, indicating a true wind pulse. First, I administered six doses of Renshen Suye Yin (Ginseng and Perilla Decoction) to first regulate qi and descend phlegm, followed by Muxiang Zhusan (Costus Decoction Powder), and she recovered. She enjoyed another ten years of life.
