Frequent urination in women occurs because the Kidney and Bladder both govern water metabolism. The Kidney Qi connects with the external genitalia. If these two meridians are deficient and invaded by heat pathogens, it leads to difficult and scanty urination; if they are merely deficient without heat, it leads to frequent urination.
To treat women with chronic deficiency-cold and urinating thirty to fifty times a day or night, use Cong Bai Tang (Scallion White Decoction).
Velvet Deer Antler (Lurong, 鹿茸), Cuttlefish Bone (Wuzhegu, 乌贼骨), Mulberry Mistletoe Stem (Sangjisheng, 桑寄生), Dragon Bone (Longgu, 龙骨) (each 1 liang), White Peony Root (Baishaoyao, 白芍药), Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 当归), Aconite Root (Fuzi, 附子) (each 3 qian), Mantis Egg Case (Sangpiaoxiao, 桑螵蛸) (0.5 liang).

The Classics state: "Bladder dysfunction leading to retention is called Long (癃); lack of restraint leading to enuresis is called Yi Niao (遗尿)." This is caused by the disordered transmission of Qi between the Heart and Kidney. Thus, some present with difficult urination accompanied by leakage, while others present with involuntary loss without awareness. Furthermore, during the postpartum period, improper delivery may injure the Bladder, causing uncontrolled urination at any time. There are also cases where cold in the Pao Gong (uterus/bladder) and cold in the Zang-Fu organs lead to uncontrollable enuresis; each condition has its specific formula.
To treat women with chronic accumulation of deficiency-cold, turbid white urine, and slippery, frequent, uncontrollable urination, use Lurong Wan (Velvet Deer Antler Pill).
