Postpartum lochia that does not stop is not as profuse and sudden as in metrorrhagia (sudden heavy vaginal bleeding). It occurs because the meridians and blood vessels were injured during childbirth, leading to deficiency and insufficiency, causing an inability to consolidate and retain blood. Alternatively, if lochia (postpartum uterine discharge) is not completely expelled, it becomes difficult for healthy blood to settle, resulting in mixed discharge of old and new blood. If this persists for a long time, it gradually develops into consumptive disease (Xu Lao). Treatment should focus on greatly tonifying Qi and Blood, allowing old blood to circulate and new blood to generate. One should not lightly use astringent agents, which might cause stagnant blood to accumulate into masses (Zhang), thereby causing lifelong harm. The principal formula is Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Significant Decoction for Great Tonification). If accompanied by stabbing pain in the lower abdomen, Pusuo Siwu Tang (Purslane and Four Substances Decoction) is indicated. If postpartum menstrual bleeding dribbles continuously for over a month, Shengxian Guxue Tang (Lifting Qi and Consolidating Blood Decoction) is appropriate. *Quan Shu* states: For cases caused by Blood Heat, Baoyin Jian (Protect Yin Decoction) and Qinghua Yin (Clear Transformation Drink) are suitable. For cases where bleeding continues due to injury to the collaterals of the Chong and Ren vessels, Guyin Jian (Consolidate Yin Decoction) with modifications is used. For cases of Liver and Spleen Qi Deficiency failing to consolidate blood, Shoupi Jian (Longevity Spleen Decoction) is indicated. For cases of combined Qi and Blood Deficiency with continuous leakage of pale blood, Dabu Yuanjian (Great Tonification of the Source Decoction) is appropriate. For cases where anger/fire injures the Liver, causing blood to fail to be stored, Xueshi Jiawei Siwu Tang (Dr. Xue’s Modified Four Substances Decoction) is used. For cases of Wind-Heat in the Liver causing blood to leak downward, Yiwei Fangfeng San (Single Herb Saposhnikovia Powder) is indicated. These treatment methods align with the principles in *Ji Yin Gang Mu* (Outline and Key Points of Women's Medicine), and the section on Metrorrhagia can also be consulted for general treatment.
Pusuo Siwu Tang: Treats postpartum lochia that does not stop.
Dang Gui (1.5 qian) Chuan Xiong (8 fen) Shu Di Huang (2 qian) Bai Shao (stir-fried with wine) Yan Hu Suo (vinegar-fried, each 1 qian) Pu Huang (7 fen stir-fried) Gan Jiang (0.5 qian stir-fried until black)
Although Bai Shao is generally contraindicated after childbirth, its use here is justified because the phrase "lochia that does not stop" implies that some time has passed since delivery, thus removing the contraindication.
Shengxian Guxue Tang: Treats continuous menstrual bleeding more than a month postpartum; lifts sinking Qi.
Dang Gui Chuan Xiong Shu Di Huang Bai Zhi Sheng Ma Xu Yu Tan (each 1 qian)
Decoct in water and take orally.
Baoyin Jian: Treats various conditions involving Yin Deficiency with internal heat disturbing the blood.

For Qi Stasis causing pain, remove Shu Di Huang and add Chen Pi, Qing Pi, Dan Pi, Xiang Fu, etc. The cold-natured herbs in this formula, such as Huang Qin, Huang Lian, Zhi Zi, and Huang Bo, should only be used when some time has passed postpartum.
Guyin Jian: Treats Yin Deficiency with slipping discharge, turbid leukorrhea, strangury, and enuresis, as well as instability due to deficiency. This formula specifically targets the Liver and Kidney.
Ren Shen (as needed) Shu Di Huang (3-5 qian) Shan Yao (2 qian stir-fried) Shan Yu Rou (1.5 qian) Yuan Zhi (0.7 qian soaked in Licorice water, bone removed, stir-fried) Zhi Gan Cao (1-2 qian with 14 Wu Wei Zi seeds) Tu Si Zi (2-3 qian stir-fried until fragrant)
Decoct two cups of water until reduced to 0.7 cup; take warm after meals.
Shoupi Jian: Treats symptoms such as Spleen Deficiency failing to control blood, and non-fire type metrorrhagia and leukorrhea in women. Cases accompanied by vomiting and nausea are critical; this formula should be used urgently to rescue the Spleen, thereby restoring the control of blood. If cold-natured herbs are used further, Stomach Qi will collapse, leading to death.
Ren Shen (as needed, 1-2 qian) Bai Zhu (2-3 qian) Dang Gui (2 qian) Shan Yao (2 qian) Zao Ren (1.5 qian) Yuan Zhi (0.3-0.5 qian processed) Gan Jiang (1-2 qian stir-fried until black) Zhi Gan Cao (1 qian) Lian Rou (20 seeds, heart removed, stir-fried)
