The body arches backward and becomes rigid without convulsions; this indicates that the Heart is not affected by heat. Treatment should involve tonifying the Kidney and treating the Liver. Any disease, whether new or chronic, can draw out Liver Wind (Liver Wind). The wind moves upward to the head and eyes. Since the eyes belong to the Liver, when Liver Wind enters the eyes, it feels as if blown by wind from above, below, left, and right. It is neither light nor heavy, and the child cannot bear it, resulting in frequent blinking of the eyes (Mu Lian Zha). If heat enters the eyes, it pulls on the sinews, causing both eyes to become tight and unable to rotate or gaze, resulting in fixed staring (Mu Zhi). If the Heart has heat, convulsions occur because both the Mother organ (Heart) and Daughter organ (Liver) have excess heat, and wind and fire struggle with each other. To treat the Liver, use Xieqing Wan; to treat the Heart, use Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder) as the primary formula.
