The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Guiding and Pulling Method of the Nourishing Life Formulas) states: First, inhale air through the nose, then close the mouth and cough to return the Qi, then inhale air through the nose again; doing so will cure the cough. In the early morning, remove the pillow, lie flat on your back in a correct posture, extend the arms and neck, close the eyes and mouth, hold the breath to the limit, distend the abdomen, lift both feet, and after a moment, inhale to draw in the abdomen. Raise both feet and double the fists, desiring to breathe slightly. Repeat this when calm. Perform it three times in spring, five times in summer, seven times in autumn, and nine times in winter. This purifies the Five Zang Organs and moistens the Six Fu Organs.
It also states: Turn the head backward to look behind and invert the body (or lean back), hold the breath for seven cycles, to treat cough with reverse flow (Ke Ni) and cold-heat disorders in the chest.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: The first three months of spring are called "Fa Chen" (releasing the old to generate the new). Heaven and Earth Qi grow together, and all things flourish. Sleep late and rise early, walk broadly in the courtyard, let down the hair and relax the form, to allow the Spring Will (Shen Zhi) to arise. Generate but do not kill, give but do not take, reward but do not punish. This is the response to Spring Qi and the way of nourishing life. Violating it injures the Liver, leading to coldness in summer, reducing the support for growth.
It also states: For those with Liver disease, there is sorrow, unhappiness, grief, worry, anger, dizziness, and eye pain. Exhaling with a "He" sound cures it.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: The first three months of summer are called "Fan You" (luxuriant growth). Heaven and Earth Qi intersect, and all things become robust and solid. Sleep late and rise early, do not dislike the sun, keep the mind free from anger, let the brilliance become elegant, and allow the Qi to vent. If the external pathogen is expelled outward, this is the response to Summer Qi and the way of nourishing growth. Violating it injures the Heart, leading to Malaria (Nue) in autumn.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: For those with Heart disease, the body feels hot and cold alternately. If cold, exhale Qi inward; if hot, blow Qi outward.
It also states: Lie on the left side, inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose, to relieve discomfort below the Heart.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: For those with Spleen disease, there is wandering wind causing itching pain on the face and body, body itching, vexation, fullness, and pain. Using the "Xi" sound to exhale cures it.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: Speaking too much causes Qi contention and Lung distension with dry mouth.
It also states: The first three months of autumn are called "Rong Ping" (abundance and peace). Heaven's Qi becomes urgent, and Earth's Qi becomes clear. Sleep early and rise early, rising with the rooster. Keep the mind peaceful to slow the effects of Autumn's severity, gather the Shen (Spirit), level the Autumn Qi, do not let the mind wander outward, and keep the Lung Qi pure. This is the response to Autumn Qi and the way of nourishing and gathering. Violating it injures the Lungs, leading to diarrhea in winter. Decoctions, moxibustion/warming applications, acupuncture, and stone therapies have separate standard formulas. Nourishing and guiding methods are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: For those with Lung disease, there is chest and back pain and fullness, and limb vexation. Use the "Xu" sound to exhale. Place hands on the ground and lean forward, inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose, to eliminate diseases in the chest and Lungs.
