The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) records the following Daoyin (guiding and pulling) methods: Exert maximum effort to shake both buttocks towards the right armpit, hold breath for nine cycles, to cure buttock pain, fatigue, and paralysis caused by wind pathogen. "Shaking both buttocks" refers to alternating stamping or treading, similar to the action of "Jue" (falling back/collapse); during the nine breath-holding cycles, the body undergoes prostration and rising movements. This is named "Toad Qi Circulation." Persistent practice eliminates pain and itching, and involves assuming various postures.
It also states: Lie supine with knees together and feet spread apart near the waist, exhale internal air, and vibrate the abdomen for seven breaths to eliminate severe fever, pain, and immobility of the lower legs (Tibia).
It also states: To treat pain and stifling sensation in the four limbs, immobility, and accumulated gas in the abdomen, one must use a stable bed mat, lie supine with the body straight, loosen clothing belts, and use a pillow three cun high. "Holding firm" (Wogu) means using each hand to grasp the thumb with the other four fingers, extending arms five cun away from the body, standing toes vertically with feet five cun apart, calming the mind and intention, harmonizing breath, avoiding extraneous thoughts, and focusing solely on guiding Qi. Slowly perform "Rinsing Sweet Spring" (Shu Li Quan), where the tongue licks the lips, mouth, and teeth, followed by swallowing saliva. Slowly exhale through the mouth and inhale through the nose into the throat; this must be done gently and slowly, not abruptly or forcibly. Once Qi is harmonized, guide it without audible sound of inhalation or exhalation. With each guidance, mentally send the Qi out from the toe tips. Guide Qi for five to six breaths; one complete cycle of inhalation and exhalation counts as one breath. The count can reach ten breaths per cycle, gradually increasing until reaching one hundred or two hundred breaths, at which point the disease is cured. Avoid eating raw vegetables, fish, and fatty meat. Do not practice Qi circulation after overeating or while experiencing emotions such as anger, joy, worry, or resentment. Practicing Qi circulation during the quiet time at dawn is optimal and can cure myriad diseases.
The *Yangsheng Fang* records: Clasp hands left and right, hold breath with arms for nine cycles, to treat arm and leg pain, fatigue, and immobility due to Wind-Bi syndrome.
The *Yangsheng Fang* records: Extend one hand long with palm up and clasped, use the other hand to grasp the chin and pull outward, exerting maximum force for fourteen cycles (two sevens), repeating on the other side. Without moving the hands, pull sharply to both sides for fourteen cycles, to remove stiffness of the skull bones, head wind, vertigo, bi-syndrome, cold sensation pouring into the inner shoulder, and hemiplegia.
It also states: Place one foot flat on the ground, extend one hand backward long and strain it, grasp Yongquan (KI-1) with the other hand, sharply pull the foot and strain the hand simultaneously, exerting maximum force. Switch sides, performing fourteen cycles each, to treat upper and lower hemiplegia and Yin-Qi disharmony.
