**From *Nanjia Bingyuan* (Chao Yuanfang's Causes and Symptoms of All Diseases): The Syndrome of Pediatric Zhong'e (Sudden Evil Invasion)**
Pediatric Zhong'e refers to the sudden invasion of the human body by evil qi from ghosts or spirits. Regardless of age, if Yin and Yang are harmonious, Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) are balanced, and Shen (Spirit) is robust, then evil qi cannot invade righteous Qi. If Jing (Essence) and Qi are weak, one will be invaded by ghost poison and evil qi. The manifestation is characterized by no prior illness, but suddenly experiencing stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, accompanied by severe distress and a sensation of impending death. In cases of Zhong'e with abdominal distension and fullness, if the pulse is tight, large, and floating, it indicates a fatal prognosis; if the pulse is tight, fine, and faint, it indicates survival. If residual pathogenic factors remain stagnant between the Zang-Fu organs, subsequent recurrences may transform into Zhu disease (a type of chronic infectious or parasitic disease).

**From *Ge Shi Zhou Hou* (Ge Hong's Emergency Handbook): Methods for Resuscitating Sudden Death**
Whether preceded by pain or occurring suddenly during rest or sleep, these cases constitute Zhong'e. The following are rescue methods.
Puncture the nasal cavity with the heart of a green onion stalk, inserting it seven to eight cun deep. For males, use the left nostril; for females, the right. For children, adjust the depth accordingly. It is beneficial if blood flows from the eyes. Bian Que's method is identical. Subsequently, puncture the Tinghui point (located in the depression anterior to the tragus of the ear). Ge Hong notes that since this involves nasal puncture, it is listed as a distinct method.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Have two people block the patient's mouth with clothing and blow air into both ears, switching persons when exhausted. A tube may be used for blowing. Support the shoulders, keep the body turned away, and do not lean directly over the corpse.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Puncture the ears, the center of the ear, and the nose with green onion leaves. Do not be alarmed if blood flows; lack of blood indicates difficult treatment, while presence of blood is a favorable sign. At this time, hold the hands and suddenly release them. After a moment, the deceased may raise their hand to grasp at people and cry out in pain before stopping. Alternatively, puncture the left nostril for males and the right for females, inserting seven to eight cun deep for significant effect. This method also treats hanging deaths. It is consistent with Bian Que's formula.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Soak cotton in good wine, place it near the nostrils of the deceased after a moment, and press with the hand to allow juice to enter the nose. Hold the limbs to prevent startling the patient.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Inspect the inner upper lip for small nodules resembling millet grains. Puncture and remove them with a needle.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Pour urine onto the face repeatedly until speech resumes. This is Bian Que's method.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Grind soap bean (Gleditsia sinensis) into powder the size of soybeans and blow it into both nostrils. Sneezing indicates the restoration of Qi flow.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Cut off the head of a rooster, collect the blood, and apply it to the face. Reapply when dry. Surround the corpse with ashes in two circles.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Blow into the lower orifice (anus) using a tube, having several people take turns. Life returns when Qi flows.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Open a white dog and place its heart on the patient's chest. A chick is also acceptable if a white dog is unavailable.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Take a rooster, sever its head near the deceased's mouth, drip fresh blood into the mouth, and blow into the lower orifice with a bamboo tube. Switch blower when exhausted. When Qi flows downward, warmth is generated.

**Another Method from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Take fresh cow or horse manure, wring out the juice, and pour it into the mouth to ensure swallowing. If the jaw is clenched, force it open with an object. If forcing is impossible, tap the teeth to open the mouth. If fresh manure is unavailable, dissolve dried manure in human urine and wring out the juice. This is Bian Que's method.

**From *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold): Formula for Sudden Invasion**
This condition corresponds to modern Zhong'e or sudden death, similar to Guiji (Ghost Strike); treatments can be combined.
Boil eight he of salt in three sheng of water until reduced to one and a half sheng. Take in two doses. Recovery occurs upon vomiting. *Beiji Fang* states: For Guiji with urinary retention, burn seven brush tips to ash, mix with water, and ingest to restore urination.

On the first day of the first lunar month, have all family members take one pill to prevent illness for the year. For cold damage with fever, take one pill. Before visiting patients, take one pill to avoid infection. Avoid raw blood products.

**Moxibustion Methods from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou***
Measure the circumference of the wrist with a rope (left for males, right for females). Extend the rope from the Dazhui point (GV14) down the back. From this point, measure horizontally across the back for half the length of the rope. Perform moxibustion three times, three moxa cones each time. Additionally, scratch the Renzhong point (GV26); if the patient does not wake, roll up the arm and moxa the lower end of the forearm, with the number of cones corresponding to the age. Moxa three cones in the nose. Moxa ten cones in the depression below the chin, known as Chengjiang point (CV24), which is highly effective. Moxa seven cones in the hair tuft near the nail of the big toe on both feet. This is Hua Tuo's method, though some sources say twenty-one cones. Moxa one hundred cones on the umbilicus.
