According to *Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Chao Yuanfang) regarding the syndrome of infantile difficulty in urination: Difficulty in urination is caused by heat in the Kidney and Bladder. These two meridians are exteriorly-interiorly related and both govern water metabolism. Water flows through the Small Intestine, enters the Bladder, and becomes urine. If heat qi resides within the zang-fu organs, the water qi becomes astringent and stagnant, thus causing difficulty in urination.
*Cranial Sutra* (Lu Xin Jing) prescription for treating infantile urinary retention.

*Xian Ren Shui Jian*: Infants suddenly suffering from Yin Wind Phlegm within the first hundred days often die; if accompanied by difficult urination, treating it as cold will worsen the condition. How do we know this? While in the womb, the parents' yin-yang toxic vapors may have affected the fetus, leading to this disease appearing within a hundred days after birth. Physicians who fail to distinguish the source will inevitably diagnose it as heat and use cold medicines, which fails to bring relief. As they grow up, adults suffer from Yin Hernia diseases, likely due to this. It is not difficult for infants to incur such misfortune. This disease mostly presents as difficult and painful urination, where one voiding is divided into more than ten segments. Quack doctors often mistake it for Lin Syndrome (stranguria) and prescribe Shiwei and Rhinoceros Horn, completely missing the point. One should use this prescription.
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) burnt to ash, half a piece; Shuijing (Rock Crystal) one fen; Li Nanpai (Mother and Father hand-decocted with Leech one fen); Gong Jia Xu De Tu Yi Tai (Tu Yi refers to Houseleek growing on tiled roofs, take those facing the sun, burn to ash).
