This is the method of regulating Qi and generating Blood. Tianmen (Gate to Heaven) acupoint, also known as Shenmen (Spirit Gate), belongs to Qian Palace (the left lateral margin of the head). Zhou (Elbow) refers to a bony prominence located posterior to the elbow joint below the upper arm. The technique involves: I support the child's elbow with my left hand, insert my right thumb into the Tiger's Mouth (Hukou) acupoint in a crossed manner, and use my ring finger to stabilize the Tianmen acupoint. This allows one hand to press two acupoints, with three acupoints manipulated simultaneously by both hands. However, the child's arm must be flexed during kneading so that force is effectively applied to the Elbow area, while reducing effort required at the Tianmen and Tiger's Mouth areas.
This method can alleviate numbness and unblock the joints and collateral orifices. Shangma (Riding Horse) acupoint is located beneath Tianmen. The technique involves: using my index and ring fingers to push from the child's Shangma acupoint upwards, swaying towards Tianhe Water (Heavenly River Water) acupoint. The frequency is "four forward, three backward" (pushing forward four times, retracting backward three times), finally reaching Quchi (Pool at the Crook) acupoint where a light flick is applied, resembling children playing and breaking things. This method clears deficiency heat and expels excess heat.
This is an extraordinary method for inducing sweating in cases of severe cold syndrome. "Dong" (Cave) refers to the child's two nostrils. My index and ring finger tips act like two hornets. The technique involves: bending my thumb, extending my index and ring fingers, and inserting them into the child's two nostrils to knead, mimicking hornets entering a cave. This method inevitably induces sweating; it should not be used unless there is a severe cold-yin syndrome. Other heat-clearing methods such as Clearing Heavenly River Water and Scooping the Bright Moon are available.
This is an essential method for reducing fever. "Shuidi" (Bottom of Water) refers to the edge of the little finger. "Mingyue" (Bright Moon) refers to Laogong (Palace of Labor) acupoint within the palm. The technique involves: holding the child's fingers with my hand, pushing with my thumb from the tip beside the child's little finger towards Kan Palace (located inferior to the center of the palm), entering Neilaogong (Inner Palace of Labor) and gently lifting as if scooping the bright moon. Another method is: applying cool water to Neilaogong, which immediately stops the heat. Because the coolness enters the heart muscle, travels along the back, and reaches the Zang-Fu organs, it is a profound cooling method and must not be used indiscriminately.
This method eliminates Lung Fire, clears internal heat, reduces distension, and is a miraculous method for restoring lost voice. "Jin" (Metal) refers to the Lung, which generates Water; "Zouqi" (Moving Qi) refers to the movement of Qi mechanism. This method has a warm nature. I dip my ring finger in cool water and place it on Neilaogong, then guide the water from Laogong towards Tianhe Water. Push forward three times, then rotate backward once, while blowing air gently from the mouth to follow the water flow, resembling Qi moving with the water.
