Facial complexion reflects the twelve meridians generally. If the color in the five regions is green, it indicates unsettled fright and accumulation. If red, it indicates cold damage with phlegm obstruction, leading to palpitations from accumulation. If yellow, it indicates food stagnation and malnutrition distension. If white, it indicates insufficient Qi, with sliding discharge, vomiting, and diarrhea. If black, it indicates impending failure of the Zang-Fu organs, a critical and malignant condition. Green face and eyes indicate Liver disease. Red face and lips indicate Heart disease. Yellow face and nose indicate Spleen disease. Pale/white face indicates Lung disease. Each Zang organ has its specific manifestations; by carefully observing the colors, one can know the exterior-interior, deficiency-excess, and balance status. The methods for treating cold-heat and tonifying-draining can be deduced from this.
The secret principles of the five fingers' meridians inside and out are attached below:
The middle finger is called Jiangzhi, belonging to the Heart. Heart Qi connects to the tongue, and its collaterals link to Jiangzhi, connecting to Xinyu on the back left, Zhongchong in the hand, and Yongquan on the foot.
One finger width below the thumb is called Yinshi, belonging to the Liver. Liver Qi connects to the eyes, and its collaterals link to Yinshi, connecting to Xiaotianxin and the big toe acupoint on the foot.
Middle Finger: Belongs to the Heart, best drained rather than tonified. If a newborn does not cry or suckle milk, it is due to fetal toxin attacking the Heart. Push this acupoint 20-30 times, feed three pills of Yanshou Dan, and they will immediately cry and eat. This symptom is common in the North where people sleep on heated kang beds and consume much roasted food; this method has been verified repeatedly.
Tianmen: Enters the Tiger's Mouth. One hand holds two points: the thumb holds Tianmen, the index finger holds Tiger's Mouth.
Thumb: Belongs to Spleen Earth. Spleen Qi connects to the mouth, and its collaterals link to the thumb, connecting to Tianshu on the back right, Lieque in the hand, and Sanli on the foot.
Rubbing and moving Spleen Earth: For boys, use the left hand; for girls, use the right hand. Moving to the right is tonification. Alternatively, flex the thumb and push laterally to Banmen to tonify Spleen Earth, promoting immediate appetite.
Yangchi: Located at the dispersing pulse of Yuji. From here, lateral pushing of Sanguan extracts True Fire.
Neilao: Lifting the Moon to reduce fever is done here.
Yinchi: Separating Yin and Yang is done here.
One finger width above the little finger is called Wumingzhi, belonging to the Lung. Lung Qi connects to the nose, and its collaterals link to Wumingzhi, connecting to Danzhong on the chest and Fengmen on the back.
Little Finger: Belongs to the Kidney. Kidney Qi connects to the ears, and its collaterals link to the little finger, connecting to the pupils. Hegu in the hand and Dadun on the foot.
Large Intestine tendon is on the outside of the index finger, connecting to the Tiger's Mouth, extending to the tip of the index finger. Small Intestine tendon is on the outside of the little finger, connecting to Shenmen, extending to the tip of the little finger.
Daling Position: If heat persists without receding, reverse-push this point to clear heat. However, it is not connected to the index finger, likely a copying error. This point is connected to the index finger, close to the Lung meridian, having methods for attacking fire, being the terminal finger, marking the disease root.
Xiangdao: Xiangdao point is on the left of Weilao, opposite Shang Ershamen, connected to the ring finger, close to the Lung meridian.
Weiling: This point connects to the middle finger, governing urgent heart conditions and fright changes in fingers. If crying, it is treatable; if not, difficult to treat.
Yiwofeng: Waijianshi is only three finger-widths away from Yiwofeng; previously belonging to Yang.
