钱氏云∶疳在外，则鼻下臭烂，自揉鼻头，上有疮，不着痂，渐绕耳生疮，今
分走马疳、口齿疳、鼻疳、眼疳，胪列诸方如下∶
走马疳，疳蚀之极也，乃五脏蒸热上攻，甚即遍沿作崩砂候，牙边肉肿烂，口
内气臭，身微有潮热，吃食不得，齿缝出鲜血，常动摇似欲脱，肉烂自漏落。治之
先以淡淡盐汤洗口内，即下紫金散掺之，一日三次，揩杀牙边肉内虫。如大假甚，
即下秋霜散掺之，然后将朱砂膏、牛黄膏、天竺黄散、夹调理（此茅先生法）。或以天竺黄
散夹地黄膏亦好，（此《惠眼》法）如此调理即安。如调理不退，先落齿一两三个，即死
不治。相次面光发，腮漏见骨而殂。《形证论》先与退脾肺风热，宜吃槟榔散五
七服后，用此药贴龈上。以大枣一个，砒少许，去枣核，入砒在内，烧灰存性，临卧
时贴龈上，数次效。〔曾〕凡得此候，多因气虚受寒，及有宿滞留而不去，积温成
热，虚热之气上蒸。或食甘酸咸腻之物，而脾虽喜甘，积滞日久，蕴热上熏于口。
致齿焦黑烂，间出清血，血聚成脓，脓臭成虫，侵蚀口齿，甚致腮颊穿破，乳食不
便，面色光浮，气喘热作，名走马疳。治之之法，先去积热，用当归散合三棱散，
水姜枣煎服，次投芦荟丸、玉露饮，及以温盐水灌漱，或软鸡翎蘸盐水拂洗，略拭
干，仍以烧盐散、内金散、密陀僧散敷之。若经久不愈者，传于唇之上下，乃成
崩砂证，或穴发满腮，齿落骨露，饮食减少，气促痰鸣，必致危矣。
紫金散（茅先生名黑铅散） 治小儿走马疳。
黄丹 蛇床子（炒，令黑） 地龙（炒令黑。各半两） 青矾（一分， 过）
上末。每服一字，揩牙龈上，一日三次揩。
秋霜散 治小儿崩砂。
好砒（半两） 白矾（四分）
上，用水三分一盏，先煎水令蟹眼沸来，便下砒 ，水干为度。即下白矾末同
干为末，取出，入好麝香少许，好坯子少许，同拌合为末。每使一字，用鹅毛
点拂牙龈上，一日三四回拂，即愈。
《惠眼》秋霜散 治崩砂齿龈欲落。
粉霜 砒霜 白矾（各一钱）
上为末，用北艾一大团裹定上件药末，以锻石渗艾上后用碗盛，发火烧尽，细
研。以手捻少许，揩齿上，用盐汤漱口。烧时，以盏子盖定，恐走了药气。
乳香丸 治走马牙疳如神。
乳香 轻粉 砒（研。各五分） 麝香（少许）
上，先将乳香研细，入轻粉麝砒，共再研匀，用薄纸一韭叶阔，去药内按过，
揉纸少许、丸如黄米大。临卧，将药填在患处，至明则愈。忌食酱醋盐等物。
〔钱乙〕龙骨散 治疳口疮，走马疳。
砒霜 蟾酥（各一字） 粉霜（半钱） 龙骨（一钱） 定粉（一钱半） 龙脑（半字）
上，先研砒粉极细，次入龙骨再研，次入定粉等同研。每用少许敷之。
上方，皆犯砒，非极不用。
《仙人水鉴》 治小儿走马疳虫透损骨者方
上，用天南星一枚，当心剜作窍子，安好雄黄一块在内，用大麦面煨，候雄黄
熔作汁，以盏子合定，出火毒一宿，去面研为末，入好麝香少许，扫在疮上，验。
《集验方》治小儿走马疳。
上，用蚕蜕纸不计多少，烧成灰存性，入麝香少许，贴患处，佳。
〔茅先生〕小儿崩砂方
鸡内金 芦荟 白矾（火 ） 乳香 地龙 麝香
上各少许为末，候小儿睡着，以药末掺牙龈上。
定命散 治小儿走马疳。
白矾 绿矾（各等分，炒一大钱）
上同研匀，用大麦面五钱，蒌葱一寸研烂，将面同搜和，软硬得所为饼子，将
研匀者药裹在中心，用文武火烧存性，于地坑内出火毒一宿，又研如粉，入铅霜
二钱同研令细。每服一剜耳许，揩牙上一二遍。
蟾灰散 治小儿走马疳。
干虾蟆（一个大者，烧存性） 五倍子（各一钱） 麝香（少许）
上同研。蜜水调涂齿根上，未止，更用之。
圣散子 治小儿走马疳。
胆矾 龙胆草（各一两）
上同于瓦瓶中 烟尽，略存性。贴疮上。
生金散 治小儿走马疳。
天南星（一个重一两者） 绿矾（一两）
上，先安排南星在干地上，用矾与南星同处，四边以灰火烧，烟尽为度，取出
后研如粉，入当门子一粒，先含浆水洗，贴之。
《刘氏家传》李琬麝香散 治小儿走马急疳，口臭牙齿损烂及攻蚀唇鼻腮颊，累治未
效者，可用此方。
麝香（一钱，真者） 黄柏（一两，去皮，杵末） 青黛（半两，上好者） 雄黄（一分，飞研）
上件，杵研极细。如有患者，先以绵缠箸，擦却齿上蚀损死肌，以软帛拭去恶
血，量疮大小干掺，日夜五次用之。或血盛并多、不定者，加定粉半两同研，用如前法。
黑神散
龙胆草（锉） 青胆矾
上等分，用甘锅子一个，先入胆矾在内，次入龙胆草，用盐黄泥固济，留一眼
子，周迥用炭火烧至眼子上烟断为度，放冷取出研细，入麝香少许。如有患人，
看疮内大小，干擦贴之立效，牙疼干擦，牙根有鲜血出并肿烂牙，擦之即愈。
〔孔氏〕无比散 治小儿走马疳。
麝香（一分，别研） 真蟾酥 绿矾（各半分） 胆矾 没药（各二分）
上四味，一同用大砖一口，凿中心作窍穴子，勿令透地，便安四味药在穴中，
周迥用红着炭三斤烧过，取出同麝香再研匀。如有患者，以鸡翎微湿沾药末，扫
于小儿齿上，立效。
《王氏手集》治小儿走马疳，口鼻生疮，牙龈肿烂，诸药不能治者。
槲叶（十片，干者） 麝香（少许）
上以芦荟为末，水调涂叶上，炙干，又涂又炙，凡涂炙数遍，为末。疮湿干掺。
安师传走马疳药方（此疳齿中不住血出多）
上用蚕蜕纸烧灰止血，时间令住，若用地骨皮中嫩处为末贴之，便永止。
〔曾氏〕烧盐散 治走马疳牙根肉溃烂黑臭。
橡斗子（不拘多少）
上每用大者两个，入盐满壳，盖作一合，或五六个至十数个，安在火内和盐烧
透，取出地上，以瓦碗盖定存性，候冷入麝香少许，乳钵内极细杵匀。每以半钱
涂搽患处。常收，用小瓦合盛贮，勿使纸裹，盖能作润。
内金散 治牙根肉臭烂黑色，有虫作痛。
鸡内金（即鸡膈内粗皮，阴干，一两） 白芷 铜青（各半两） 麝香（一字）
上，前三味锉晒或焙，为末，仍以麝香乳钵内同杵匀。每用一字或半钱，干擦
患处，先用温盐水灌漱后敷药。
密陀僧散 治走马疳齿焦黑烂。
密陀僧（一两） 轻粉（五十帖） 麝香（一字）
上件为细末，同轻粉、麝香乳钵内杵匀。每用半钱，擦患处。
走马牙疳神效方
干姜、白矾、枣子烧焦存性，为末。敷患处。尿桶中白焙干为末，入冰片少许。揩牙立效。
上自《水鉴方》以下不犯砒，为妥。
治走马牙疳，用溺桶中白垢、火 过，每一钱入铜绿三分、麝香一分半，敷之立愈。
红铅散 治走马疳。
绿矾不以多少，色鲜明者，入干锅，用炭火烧，锅赤倾出，以好酒洒拌匀，
再入锅，如此数遍，色红，研作细末，入麝香少许。先以温浆水洗漱净，用指蘸药，
有疳处贴之。
〔演山〕兰香散 治小儿走马疳，牙齿溃烂，以至崩砂出血齿落者。
轻粉（一钱重） 兰香子（一钱，末） 密陀僧（半两，醋淬，为末）
上研如粉。敷齿及龈上立效。
议曰∶婴孩受病，证候多端，良由气郁三焦，疳分五脏，内有肾经常虚，得疳，
名之曰急，以马走为喻，治疗颇难，此等一证，初作口气，名曰臭息。次第齿黑，
名曰崩砂。盛则龈烂，名曰溃槽。又盛血出，名曰宣露。重则齿自脱落、名曰腐
根。其根既腐，何由理之，今将秘方具述于后。
敷齿立效散
鸭嘴胆矾（一钱匙，上 红，研） 麝香（少许）
上研匀。每以少许敷牙齿龈上。又一方，用蟾酥一字，加麝和匀。敷之。
议曰∶血之流行者荣也，气之循环者卫也，变蒸足后，饮食之间，深恐有伤于
荣卫而作众疾，其或气伤于毒，血伤于热，热毒攻之，虚脏所受，何脏为虚，盖
小儿肾之一脏常主虚，不可令受热毒，攻及肾脏，伤乎筋骨，惟齿受骨之余气，
故先作疾，名曰走马，非徐徐而作。所宜服药甘露饮、地黄膏、化毒丹、消毒饮，
其外证以前件立效散，及麝酥膏敷之，切忌与食热毒之物。此疳不同常证，乃系无
辜有作，医宜深究，保全为上，若用常方，难拟愈活。
独活饮子 治肾疳臭息候。
天麻 木香 独活 防风 麝香（少许，为细末研和入）
上各二钱重，为末。每服一钱匕，小者半钱，麦门冬熟水调下。
三黄散 治肾疳崩砂候。
牛黄 大黄 生地黄 木香 青黛
上等分，为末。每服一钱匕，熟水调服。
人参散 治肾疳溃槽候
肉豆蔻（炮） 胡黄连 人参 杏仁（炒） 甘草（炙）
上件各等分，为末。每服一钱匕，小者只半钱，温熟水调服。
槟榔散 治肾疳宣露候。
木香 槟榔 人参 黄连 甘草（炙）
上等分，为末。每服一钱，小者半钱，熟水调服。
黄 散 治肾疳腐根候。
黄 （蜜炙） 牛黄 人参 天麻 全蝎（炒） 杏仁（炒） 白茯苓 川当归 生地黄（洗） 熟
干地黄（洗）
上等分，为末。每服一钱，小者半钱匕，煎天门冬熟水调服（麦门冬亦得。）
地骨皮散 治肾疳龈 牙齿肉烂腐臭，鲜血常出。
生干地黄（半两） 真地骨皮 细辛（各一分） 五倍子（炒令焦，二钱重）
上件为细末。每用少许敷之，频有功效。吃不妨。
议曰∶《本经》所载疳证有五，谓五脏所受，故得其名，今述肾疳一脏有五证
候者，最为要急，不可同常。此疾共陈有五种候敷，迅疾可畏，乃知走马之号不
诬，初发之时，儿孩口臭上干，胃口气息臭郁。渐进损筋，龈肉生疮，或肿或烂，
其齿焦黑。又进从牙槽内发作疮 ，破溃脓烂。又进热逼筋脉，时时血出，其热
注久，牙龈腐坏，槽宽齿脱。六七岁孩，落尽不复更生，岂可治疗，今以妙方，
宜速与传变而理，不待疾作而后药也。
茅先生朱砂膏 治小儿惊积惊热。
朱砂（半两） 硼砂 马牙硝（各三钱） 真珠末（一钱） 玄明粉（二钱，并别研） 龙脑 麝香（各一字）
上件各为末，于一处拌和合用，好单角起，不久其药自成膏。如小儿诸般惊，
用药一黄豆大，常用金银薄荷汤少许化开下。如遍身潮热，用甘草煎汤下。狂躁
恶叫，用生地龙自然汁化下。一腊及一月日内小儿，不便下药，可用药使乳
调，涂在奶上，令牙儿吃奶吮下。
〔茅先生〕牛黄膏 治小儿膈热及诸热，镇心解毒。
川郁金（半两，用皂角三寸、巴豆七粒、水一碗、铫内煮干，不用皂角、巴豆） 马牙硝 甘草（炙。各半两）
朱砂（一钱） 硼砂 寒水石（各一分） 龙脑 麝香（二味，随意入）
上件为末，炼蜜为膏，芡实大。每服一丸，麦门冬熟水化下。
天竺黄散 治小儿诸热。
天竺黄 川郁金（用皂角水煮干） 茯苓（去皮） 麦门冬（各半两） 蝉蜕（去足） 全蝎（去土，十四个） 白
僵蚕（各十四个） 甘草（一两，炙） 朱砂（一分） 龙脑 麝香（随意所入）
上件各净洗，研、罗为末。每服半钱、一钱，用蜜熟水调下。
三解牛黄散 治小儿潮热、实热。
白僵蚕 全蝎（去土炙） 防风 白附子 川黄芩 桔梗 川大黄 甘草（炙） 白茯苓 人参 川郁金（用皂角
水煮干）
上前件，各等分为末，各净洗细研。每服半钱、一钱，用薄荷、蜜、熟水调下。
《惠眼》地黄膏
天竺黄散（一名金朱饮子） 二方并见初生门重舌条。
《形证论》槟榔散
槟榔 大黄（蒸） 青皮（各二钱五分） 黑牵牛（一钱） 木香（少许，炮）
为细末。薄荷、蜜水调下一钱。
当归散（潮热） 三棱散（宿食） 芦荟丸（本门通治条） 玉露饮（积热）
钱乙说：疳病表现在外部，就会出现鼻下发臭溃烂，孩子自己揉搓鼻子，鼻上有疮，不结痂，逐渐蔓延到耳朵周围生疮。现在将其分为走马疳、口齿疳、鼻疳、眼疳四类，并罗列各种方剂如下：
走马疳，是疳蚀病中最严重的一种，是由于五脏积热上攻所致，严重时会导致牙龈广泛溃烂如崩砂状，牙边肉肿胀腐烂，口中气息恶臭，身体轻微有潮热，无法进食，牙齿缝隙流出鲜血，牙齿经常动摇似乎要脱落，牙龈肉腐烂自行漏落。治疗时，先用淡淡的盐水清洗口腔内部，然后撒紫金散（茅先生名为黑铅散），每天三次，擦去牙边肉内的虫毒。如果病情非常严重，就使用秋霜散撒敷，然后再用朱砂膏、牛黄膏、天竺黄散进行调理（这是茅先生的方法）。或者使用天竺黄散配合地黄膏也可以（这是《惠眼》的方法），这样调理后病情就会安定。如果调理后病情不退，先脱落一两颗牙齿，就会死亡且无法救治。接着面部皮肤光亮浮肿，腮部漏出骨头而死亡。《形证论》主张先给予退除脾肺风热的药物，宜服用槟榔散五到七次后，再用此药贴敷在牙龈上。取一个大枣一个，放入少许砒，去掉枣核，将砒放入枣内，烧成灰但保留药性，临睡前贴敷在牙龈上，多次使用有效。〔曾氏〕认为：凡是得这种病症，多是因为气虚受寒，以及有宿食停滞不去，积久化热，虚热之气上蒸。或者食用甘酸咸腻的食物，虽然脾喜甘味，但积滞日久，蕴热上熏于口。导致牙齿焦黑腐烂，间或流出清血，血液积聚化成脓，脓液发臭化成虫，侵蚀口齿，甚至导致腮颊穿破，乳食不便，面色光亮浮肿，气喘发热发作，称为走马疳。治疗方法，先去积热，用当归散合三棱散，加水、姜、大枣煎服，其次投用芦荟丸、玉露饮，并用温盐水漱口，或用软鸡毛蘸盐水拂洗，稍微擦干，仍以烧盐散、内金散、密陀僧散敷之。如果经久不愈，会传染到嘴唇上下，形成崩砂证，或者穴位处发作满腮，牙齿脱落骨头外露，饮食减少，气促痰鸣，必然导致危险。
紫金散（茅先生名黑铅散） 治疗小儿走马疳。
黄丹 蛇床子（炒至黑色） 地龙（炒至黑色。各半两） 青矾（一分，煅过）
以上研为末。每次服用一字量，揩擦牙龈上，一天三次揩擦。
秋霜散 治疗小儿崩砂。
好砒（半两） 白矾（四分）

地骨皮散 治疗肾疳龈[烂] 牙齿肉烂腐臭，鲜血常出。
生干地黄（半两） 真地骨皮 细辛（各一分） 五倍子（炒令焦，二钱重）
以上件为细末。每次用少许敷之，频有功效。吃不妨。
议曰：《本经》所载疳证有五，谓五脏所受，故得其名，今述肾疳一脏有五证候者，最为要急，不可同常。此疾共陈有五种候敷，迅疾可畏，乃知走马之号不诬，初发之时，儿孩口臭上干，胃口气息臭郁。渐进损筋，龈肉生疮，或肿或烂，其齿焦黑。又进从牙槽内发作疮[疡]，破溃脓烂。又进热逼筋脉，时时血出，其热注久，牙龈腐坏，槽宽齿脱。六七岁孩，落尽不复更生，岂可治疗，今以妙方，宜速与传变而理，不待疾作而后药也。
茅先生朱砂膏 治疗小儿惊积惊热。
朱砂（半两） 硼砂 马牙硝（各三钱） 真珠末（一钱） 玄明粉（二钱，并别研） 龙脑 麝香（各一字）
以上件各为末，于一处拌和合用，好单角起，不久其药自成膏。如小儿诸般惊，用药一黄豆大，常用金银薄荷汤少许化开下。如遍身潮热，用甘草煎汤下。狂躁恶叫，用生地龙自然汁化下。一腊及一月日内小儿，不便下药，可用药使乳调，涂在奶上，令牙儿吃奶吮下。

三解牛黄散 治疗小儿潮热、实热。
白僵蚕 全蝎（去土炙） 防风 白附子 川黄芩 桔梗 川大黄 甘草（炙） 白茯苓 人参 川郁金（用皂角水煮干）
以上前件，各等分为末，各净洗细研。每次服用半钱、一钱，用薄荷、蜜、熟水调下。
《惠眼》地黄膏
天竺黄散（一名金朱饮子） 二方并见初生门重舌条。
Qian Yi stated: When gan disease (nutritional deficiency syndrome) manifests externally, there will be foul odor and ulceration under the nose. The child rubs their own nose; sores appear on the nose without forming scabs, gradually spreading to the ears where sores develop. It is now divided into four categories: Zouma Gan (Running Horse Gan), oral-teeth Gan, nasal Gan, and ocular Gan. Various formulas are listed below:
Zouma Gan (Running Horse Gan) represents the most severe form of gan erosion. It is caused by heat accumulating in the five zang organs attacking upwards. In severe cases, it leads to widespread gingival ulceration resembling "crumbling sand" (Bengsha). The flesh around the teeth swells and rots, breath smells foul, the body has slight tidal fever, eating is impossible, fresh blood flows from between the teeth, teeth become loose as if falling out, and gingival flesh rots and falls off spontaneously. Treatment begins by rinsing the mouth with weak salt water, then applying Zijin San (Black Lead Powder by Master Mao) three times a day to eliminate worms/toxins in the gingival flesh. If the condition is very severe, Qiushuang San is applied first, followed by treatment with Zhusha Gao (Cinnabar Ointment), Niuhuang Gao (Calculus Bovis Ointment), Tianzhu Huang San (Bambusa Textilis Decoction Powder), or conditioning methods (Master Mao's method). Alternatively, Tianzhu Huang San combined with Dihuang Gao (Rehmannia Root Ointment) is also effective (Method from *Huiyan*). With such conditioning, the condition stabilizes. If conditioning fails and one or two teeth fall out initially, death is inevitable and untreatable. Subsequently, the face becomes shiny and swollen, the cheekbones expose bone, and the patient dies. *Xingzheng Lun* advocates first using herbs to clear wind-heat from the spleen and lungs, recommending Binglang San (Areca Seed Powder) taken five to seven doses, then applying this medicine to the gums. Take one large jujube, place a small amount of arsenic inside after removing the pit, burn to ash while preserving efficacy, and apply to the gums before sleep; repeated use is effective. [Zeng Shi] believes that contracting this illness is mostly due to qi deficiency with cold invasion, and retained food stagnation not resolving, leading to accumulated warmth turning into heat, with deficient heat steaming upwards. Or, consuming sweet, sour, salty, and greasy foods; although the spleen likes sweetness, long-term stagnation breeds heat that steams upwards to the mouth. This causes teeth to turn black and rot, occasionally bleeding clear blood; blood accumulates into pus, pus becomes foul and generates worms, eroding the mouth and teeth, even penetrating the cheeks. Milk intake becomes difficult, complexion is shiny and puffy, asthma and fever occur, named Zouma Gan. The treatment method is to first remove accumulated heat using Danggui San (Angelica Sinensis Powder) combined with Sanleng San (Curcuma Longa Powder), decocted with water, ginger, and jujube. Next, administer Lulu Wan (Aloe Pill), Yulu Yin (Jade Dew Drink), and rinse with warm salt water, or gently wash with a soft chicken feather dipped in salt water. After wiping dry, apply Shaoyan San (Burnt Salt Powder), Neijin San (Chicken Gizzard Membrane Powder), or Miduoseng San (Lead Monoxide Powder). If unhealed for a long time, it spreads to the upper and lower lips, forming Bengsha syndrome, or fills the cheeks with lesions, teeth fall out exposing bone, food intake decreases, breathing becomes rapid with phlegm rattle, inevitably leading to danger.
Zijin San (Master Mao's Black Lead Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.
Hongdan (Red Lead Oxide) Shechuangzi (Cnidium Fruit, stir-fried until black) Dilong (Earthworm, stir-fried until black; each half liang) Qingfan (Green Vitriol, calcined; 1 fen)
Grind all into powder. Each dose is "yi zi" (a measure approx. 0.3-0.5g), rubbed onto the gums, three times a day.
Qiushuang San treats pediatric Bengsha (Crumbling Sand/Gum Ulceration).
Haopi (Good Arsenic Trioxide; half liang) Baifan (White Alum; 4 fen)
Take three parts water per unit vessel. Boil water until bubbles resemble crab eyes, add arsenic, boil until water dries. Add white alum powder, continue boiling until dry, grind to powder. Remove, add a small amount of good Shexiang (Musk) and Haipizi (likely a typo for another ingredient or specific preparation aid), mix well into powder. Each dose is "yi zi", applied to gums with a goose feather, 3-4 times a day, until cured.
*Huiyan* Qiushuang San treats Bengsha with impending gum/teeth loss.
Fenshuang (Calomel/Arsenic Chloride) Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide) Baifan (White Alum; each 1 qian)
Grind to powder. Wrap tightly in a large bundle of Bei'ai (Northern Mugwort). Place on Duanshi (Calcined Alumen/Dreg) in a bowl, burn completely. Grind finely. Rub a small amount onto teeth with fingers, rinse with salt water. Cover with a cup during burning to prevent loss of medicinal vapor.
Ruxiang Wan (Frankincense Pill) treats Running Horse Dental Gangrene with divine efficacy.
Ruxiang (Frankincense) Qingfen (Calomel) Pi (Arsenic; ground; each 5 fen) Shexiang (Musk; small amount)
First grind frankincense finely, add calomel, musk, and arsenic, grind uniformly. Use thin paper (width of a leek leaf) to press/filter the mixture, knead slightly, roll into pills the size of yellow millet grains. Before bed, fill the affected area with the pill; cure by morning. Avoid soy sauce, vinegar, salt, etc.
[Qian Yi] Longgu San (Dragon Bone Powder) treats Gan mouth ulcers and Zouma Gan.
Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide) Chansu (Toad Venom; each 1 zi) Fenshuang (Calomel; half qian) Longgu (Dragon Bone; 1 qian) Dingfen (Minium/Red Lead; 1.5 qian) Longnao (Borneol; half zi)
First grind arsenic and calomel extremely fine, then add dragon bone and grind again, then add minium and grind together. Apply a small amount to the lesion.
The above formulas all contain arsenic; they are only used for extreme cases.
*Xianren Shuijian* Formula for Pediatric Zouma Gan with worms penetrating and damaging bone.
Use one Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome), hollow out the center, insert a piece of Xionghuang (Realgar), bake in barley flour dough. Wait until realgar melts into liquid. Cover with a cup, leave overnight to dissipate fire toxicity. Remove dough, grind to powder, add a small amount of good musk, sprinkle on the sore. Effective.
*Jiyan Fang* treats pediatric Zouma Gan.
Use any amount of Cantui Zhi (Silkworm Molt Paper), burn to ash preserving efficacy, add a small amount of musk, apply to the affected area. Good.
[Master Mao] Pediatric Bengsha Formula
Jineijin (Chicken Gizzard Membrane) Lulü (Aloe) Baifan (White Alum, calcined) Ruxiang (Frankincense) Dilong (Earthworm) Shexiang (Musk)
Grind small amounts of each into powder. While the child sleeps, sprinkle powder onto the gums.
Dingming San (Life-Determining Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.
Baifan (White Alum) Lüfan (Green Vitriol; equal parts, stir-fry to yield one da qian)
Grind uniformly. Mix with 5 qian of barley flour and 1 cun of Loucong (likely Allium or similar herb, mashed). Form into a cake of appropriate consistency. Wrap the powdered medicine in the center. Fire-roast over mild-to-strong heat preserving efficacy. Bury in a pit in the ground overnight to remove fire toxicity. Grind back to powder. Add 2 qian of Qianshuang (Lead Frost), grind finely. Each dose is an ear-scoopful, rub onto teeth 1-2 times.
Chanhui San (Toad Ash Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.

Grind together. Mix with honey water, apply to tooth roots. If bleeding does not stop, apply again.
Sheng San Zi (Holy Particle Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.

Calcine together in a clay jar until smoke ceases, preserving slight efficacy. Apply to sores.
Shengjin San (Living Gold Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.
Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, one weighing 1 liang) Lüfan (Green Vitriol; 1 liang)
Place arisaema on dry ground. Surround with vitriol. Burn edges with ash fire until smoke ceases. Remove, grind to powder. Add one Dangmenzi (Musk pellet). Rinse mouth with saliva/water first, then apply.
*Liu Family Heritage* Li Wan's Shexiang San treats pediatric acute Zouma Gan, bad breath, dental damage/rot, and erosion of lips, nose, cheeks, when previous treatments failed.

Pound and grind all extremely fine. For patients, first wrap cotton around a chopstick, wipe away necrotic tissue on teeth. Wipe away bad blood with soft cloth. Sprinkle dry powder according to sore size, use 5 times day and night. If bleeding is heavy/unstable, add 0.5 liang Dingfen (Minium), grind together, use as before.
Heishen San (Black Divine Powder)
Longdancao (Gentian Root, chopped) Qingdanfan (Blue Vitriol)
Equal parts. Use a clay pot. Put vitriol in first, then gentian root. Seal with salt-yellow mud, leaving one hole. Burn surrounding charcoal until smoke stops at the hole. Cool, remove, grind fine. Add small amount of musk. For patients, inspect sore size, rub dry powder directly on it for immediate effect. For toothache, rub dry powder; for bleeding/swollen rotten gums at tooth root, rubbing heals immediately.
[Kong Shi] Wubi San (Peerless Powder) treats pediatric Zouma Gan.
Shexiang (Musk, 1 fen, separately ground) Zhen Chansu (True Toad Venom) Lüfan (Green Vitriol; each half fen) Danfan (Blue Vitriol) Moyao (Myrrh; each 2 fen)
Take these four ingredients. Use a large brick, carve a hole in the center (do not pierce through). Place the four medicines in the hole. Surround with 3 jin of red-hot charcoal. Burn, remove, grind together with musk uniformly. For patients, moisten a chicken feather slightly, dip in powder, sweep onto children's teeth. Immediate effect.
*Wang Shi Shouji* treats pediatric Zouma Gan, sores in mouth/nose, swollen/rotten gums, untreatable by other medicines.
Hu Ye (Oak Leaf, 10 dried leaves) Shexiang (Musk; small amount)
Grind Lulü (Aloe) to powder. Mix with water, paint on leaves. Roast/dry. Repeat painting and roasting several times. Grind final product to powder. For wet sores, apply dry powder.
An Shi's Transmitted Zouma Gan Prescription (This gan involves continuous heavy bleeding from teeth)
Use Cantui Zhi (Silkworm Molt Paper) burned to ash to stop bleeding temporarily. If using Digupi (Dogwood Root Bark) tender part ground to powder and applied, it stops permanently.
[Zeng Shi] Shaoyan San (Burnt Salt Powder) treats Zouma Gan with rotten/black/foul-smelling gingival flesh.
Xiangdouzi (Oak Apple Gall, any amount)
Take two large galls, fill shells with salt. Close them like a box. Place 5-6 to 10+ pairs in fire with salt, burn thoroughly. Remove to ground, cover with clay bowl to preserve efficacy. Cool, add small amount of musk, pound extremely fine in mortar. Apply half qian to affected area each time. Store commonly in small clay containers, do not wrap in paper as it retains moisture.
Neijin San (Chicken Gizzard Membrane Powder) treats rotten/black smelling gingival flesh with worm-induced pain.
Jineijin (Chicken Gizzard Inner Skin, dried in shade, 1 liang) Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica) Tongqing (Malachite/Copper Green; each half liang) Shexiang (Musk; 1 zi)
Chop, sun-dry or roast the first three ingredients, grind to powder. Pound musk separately in mortar with the powder. Each dose is 1 zi or half qian, rub dry on affected area. First rinse with warm salt water, then apply medicine.
Miduoseng San (Lead Monoxide Powder) treats Zouma Gan with blackened/rotten teeth.
Miduoseng (Lead Monoxide; 1 liang) Qingfen (Calomel; 50 tie - likely a typo for weight unit or quantity) Shexiang (Musk; 1 zi)
Grind all to fine powder. Pound uniformly with calomel and musk in mortar. Each dose is half qian, rub on affected area.
Zouma Yagan Shenxiao Fang (Divine Efficacy Formula for Running Horse Dental Gangrene)
Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Baifan (White Alum), Zaozi (Jujube) burned charred preserving efficacy, grind to powder. Apply to affected area. White scale from urine bucket, baked dry, grind to powder, add small amount of Bingpian (Borneol). Rub teeth, immediate effect.
From *Shuijian Fang* downwards, these do not contain arsenic, which is safer.
Treating Zouma Yagan: Use white scale from urine bucket, calcined. Per 1 qian, add 3 fen Tonglü (Malachite) and 1.5 fen Shexiang (Musk). Apply, immediate cure.
Hongqian San (Red Lead Powder) treats Zouma Gan.
Lüfan (Green Vitriol, any amount, bright color). Put in dry pot, burn with charcoal until pot is red. Pour out. Sprinkle good wine, mix evenly. Return to pot. Repeat several times until red. Grind to fine powder. Add small amount of musk. First rinse mouth with warm rice water. Dip finger in medicine, apply to gan areas.
[Yanshan] Lanxiang San treats pediatric Zouma Gan, tooth decay, progressing to Bengsha bleeding and tooth loss.
Qingfen (Calomel; 1 qian weight) Lanxiangzi (Perilla Seed/Fennel? Context suggests seed; 1 qian, powder) Miduoseng (Lead Monoxide; half liang, quenched in vinegar, powder)
Grind to powder. Apply to teeth and gums, immediate effect.
Discussion: Infants suffer diseases with diverse symptoms, largely due to qi stagnation in the San Jiao (Triple Burner) and gan dividing among the five zang organs. Internally, the Kidney channel is often deficient. Contracting gan here is called "acute," compared to a running horse, making treatment difficult. This syndrome begins with bad breath, named "Chouxi" (Foul Breath). Gradually teeth turn black, named "Bengsha" (Crumbling Sand). Severe swelling/rotting of gums is "Kuicao" (Rotting Trough). Further severity with bleeding is "Xuanlu" (Exposed Roots). Heavy cases see spontaneous tooth loss, named "Fugen" (Rotting Roots). Once roots rot, how can they be treated? Now secret formulas are detailed below.
Fuchi Lixiao San (Immediate Efficacy Powder for Teeth)
Yazui Danfan (Duck-bill Blue Vitriol; 1 qian spoon, calcined red, ground) Shexiang (Musk; small amount)
Grind uniformly. Apply small amount to teeth/gums. Another formula: Use 1 zi Chansu (Toad Venom), mix with musk. Apply.
Discussion: Blood circulation is Ying (Nutrient Qi), air/qi circulation is Wei (Defensive Qi). After completion of Bianzheng (developmental transformations), during diet, we fear injury to Ying and Wei causing various illnesses. If qi is injured by toxins, blood by heat, heat-toxin attacks, affecting deficient zang organs. Which zang is deficient? The infant's Kidney is always prone to deficiency. Do not allow heat-toxin to attack the Kidneys, damaging sinews and bones. Only teeth receive the residual qi of bone, so they manifest disease first, named "Zouma" (Running Horse), not developing slowly. Suitable internal medicines include Ganlu Yin (Sweet Dew Drink), Dihuang Gao (Rehmannia Ointment), Huadu Dan (Detoxification Pill), Xiaodu Yin (Disinfection Drink). External symptoms should be treated with the aforementioned Lixiao San and Musu Gao (Musk-Toad Ointment). Strictly avoid hot-toxic foods. This gan differs from common syndromes; it arises from "Wugu" (Innocent/Sudden causes). Physicians must investigate deeply; preservation is paramount. Using common formulas makes recovery unlikely.
Duhuo Yinzi (Angelica Pubescens Drink) treats Kidney Gan with Foul Breath syndrome.

Huangqi San (Astragalus Powder) treats Kidney Gan with Fugen syndrome.

Equal parts, grind to powder. Each dose 1 qian, smaller children half qian bi. Decoct Asparagus root cooked water to take down (Ophiopogon is also acceptable).
Digupi San (Dogwood Root Bark Powder) treats Kidney Gan with [rotten] gums, rotten/foul smelling tooth flesh, frequent fresh bleeding.
Shenggan Dihuang (Dried Fresh Rehmannia; half liang) Zhen Digupi (True Dogwood Root Bark) Xixin (Asarum; each 1 fen) Wubeizi (Chinese Gall, stir-fried until scorched; 2 qian weight)
Grind all to fine powder. Apply small amount frequently; effective. Safe to ingest accidentally.
Discussion: *Ben Jing* records five types of gan syndromes, named after the five zang organs affected. Now describing the five syndromes of Kidney Gan is most critical and urgent, not comparable to common ones. This disease presents five syndromes rapidly, terrifyingly, confirming the name "Running Horse" is not false. At onset, infant breath is foul, stomach qi breath is oppressive. Progressively damaging sinews, gum flesh forms sores, swelling or rotting, teeth turn black. Further, sores erupt from alveoli, rupture and suppurate. Further, heat forces sinews/vessels, bleeding occurs intermittently. Long-standing heat causes gum rot, alveolar widening, tooth loss. By age 6-7, if all teeth fall out, they won't regrow; how can it be treated? Now with excellent formulas, one should intervene quickly to manage progression, not wait for disease to manifest before medicating.
Master Mao's Zhusha Gao (Cinnabar Ointment) treats pediatric fright accumulation and fright heat.
Zhusha (Cinnabar; half liang) Pengsha (Borax) Mayaxiao (Mirabilite; each 3 qian) Zhenzhumo (Real Pearl Powder; 1 qian) Xuanmingfen (Thenardite; 2 qian, separately ground) Longnao (Borneol) Shexiang (Musk; each 1 zi)
Grind all separately, mix together. Use good single-horn container; medicine will naturally become ointment soon. For various pediatric fright, use pill size of a soybean. Usually dissolve in small amount of Jin Yinbohe Tang (Honeysuckle and Mint Decoction) and administer. For whole-body tidal fever, take down with Licorice decoction. For mania/restlessness/bad screaming, dissolve in natural juice of fresh Dilong (Earthworm). For infants within one month or one lunar year, administering medicine is inconvenient; mix medicine with milk, smear on nipple, let baby suckle.
[Master Mao] Niuhuang Gao (Calculus Bovis Ointment) treats pediatric diaphragm heat and various heats, calming heart and detoxifying.
Chuan Yujin (Curcuma Aromatica; half liang, boiled with 3 cun Zaojiao (Tamarisk Pod), 7 Badou (Croton Seeds), 1 bowl water until dry, discard pod/seeds) Mayaxiao (Mirabilite) Gancao (Licorice, honey-fried; each half liang)

Grind all to powder. Refine honey to make ointment, size of Euryale Seed. Each dose one pill. Dissolve in Ophiopogon cooked water and administer.
