Percussion of the back produces a drum-like resonance, and the vertebral column protrudes resembling a saw. This arises from food stagnation transforming into heat, which then evolves into Gan syndrome. It is appropriate to administer Lushui Wan (Aloe Pill) and Luxing Gao (Luxing Ointment).
Lushui Wan (Aloe Pill)
Longdan Cao (Radix Gentianae), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Wuyi (Fructus Tetrastigmatis) (remove the skin, stir-fry until yellow, then stir-fry together with the aforementioned two herbs until reddish-brown. Each in an amount of one liang [approx. 37.3g]).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Add one fen [approx. 3.73g] of Lushui (Resina Aloes) and mix evenly. Form pills using soft rice as a binder, with each pill being the size of a millet seed. For a three-year-old child, administer thirty pills per dose, taken on an empty stomach with rice water.
