[Tang's Discussion] Chong She (Double Tongue) refers to a growth arising under the tongue near the root, resembling a tongue but smaller. Those presenting in this manner on the sublingual area are named Chong She; those appearing similarly within the cheeks and upper palate are named Chong E (Double Palate); and those appearing similarly on the gums are named Chong Yin (Double Gums). These conditions can be treated by pricking them to induce bleeding. The treatment method involves soaking Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis sap (Kuzhuli) with powder of Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), and applying it to the tongue. If there is no improvement, subsequently apply real Polygoni Multiflori Flos (Puhuang) to the lesion; recovery will occur within no more than three applications. (Specifically, lightly stir-fry true Puhuang, spread it on paper to eliminate fire heat, grind it into fine powder, take a small amount each time to sprinkle under the tongue, then wrap a finger with warm, moistened cloth and gently press, after pressing, sprinkle the medicine.) Alternatively, apply Halitum (Mayaxiao) to the sublingual area three times daily. First, rinse the mouth and tongue up and down with fresh water, then use ash from burned Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina (Zaojia Zhen), add a small amount of Borneolum Syntheticum (Naozi), use half a zi (a traditional unit of weight) each time, sprinkle on the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue, which will expel saliva and produce immediate effect. (This also treats Mu She/Wooden Tongue.) Burn Sepiae Endoconcha (Wuzeiyu Gu) to ash, grind finely, mix with Yolk of Gallus Domesticus Egg (Jizihuang), and apply to the throat and tongue. Burn disordered hair to ash, grind finely, apply half a qian to under the tongue, using continuously. Boil Morus Alba Cortex (Sangbaipi) juice, apply to breasts for the infant to drink.
