眼睛在两三岁的孩童身上患病是什么原因呢？回答说：这是乳毒的缘故。如果出现红肿流泪的症状，适宜服用三黄丸。

What is the cause of spots appearing in the eyes? The answer is: it is due to pathogenic heat in the Liver channel. When wind and heat struggle against each other, it is appropriate to take Xigan San (Wash the Liver Powder; see Question 24) and Qingdu San (Clear Toxin Powder; see Question 38).
The poem states: Occasionally, qi swelling causes unclear vision, with spots like pearls causing pain day and night. A few grains of Cornus officinalis fruit are indistinguishable, transforming truly into the shape of crab's eye (crab-eye corneal opacity). If the black pupil protrudes, it must be pierced with a needle hook; quickly prepare Zhenzhu San (Pearl Powder) for clearer vision. This is the priceless treasure of good physicians; the merit of helping others is not light (Biography written by Jin Xian).
What is the cause of children suffering from smallpox with nebulae membranes covering the pupils? The answer is: floating nebulae can be treated; if they look white like a lime-washed wall, they are incurable. If the obstruction is thick and dense, apply Laomo San (Old Membrane Powder) one or two times (see Question 27), then apply Tuiyun San (Pushing Clouds Powder; see Question 14), and concurrently take Chantui Wubi San (Cicada Slough Peerless Powder; see Question 22).
What is the cause of this disease affecting children aged two or three? The answer is: it is due to milk toxin. If there is redness, swelling, and tearing, it is appropriate to take Sanhuang Wan (Three Yellows Pill).

What is the cause of smallpox in the eyes with pus leaking from the skin under the eyes? The answer is: it is the residual toxin of smallpox. Use a triangular needle to puncture around the periphery until bleeding occurs, then dip a golden needle into Qingjing Gao (Pure Ointment; see Question 42) to apply to the leaking area. It is appropriate to apply Zhenzhu Huye Gao (Pearl Tiger Liquid Ointment) and take Baiwei San (Cynanchum Atratum Powder).

What is the cause of the eyeball turning upward resembling the moon rising from the East Sea? The answer is: this is named Fusang Yi (Fusang Nebula). It is all because the Lungs are injured by Heart fire, causing restlessness. With blazing Heart fire, the Po (Corporeal Soul) does not guard its residence, and the Yuan Qi of the Liver is also unsettled. It is appropriate to apply Zhenzhu San (Pearl Powder) and Xi Xin San (Wash the Heart Powder; see Question 5). Take Bushen Wan (Tonify Kidney Pill) (Note: The character "fu" [take medicine] should be omitted before Xi Xin San. Bushen Wan also appears in Questions 11 and 66, but is different here.)
