Treats impaired urination during the summer heat season.
Hua Shi (Talcum, *Huashi*, processed by water flotation, 6 liang) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, *Gancao*, roasted, 6 qian; raw, 4 qian).
Grind into a powder. Take 2-3 qian mixed with clear water. To dissipate pathogens of Warm Disease (*Wenbing*) and Heat Disease (*Rebing*), add 5-7 stalks of Cong Bai (Scallion White) and 4 he of Xiang Chi (Fermented Soybean), decoct in water and take warm. Contraindicated for the elderly, deficient persons, and those with impaired urination due to fluid injury after illness. If this formula is decocted with Cong and Chi, it additionally disperses exterior pathogens. Adding Wu Zhu Yu (*Evodiae Fructus*) treats white dysentery. Adding Hong Qu (*Monascus purpureus*) treats bloody dysentery. Adding Pao Jiang (Prepared Ginger) additionally promotes digestion. Adding Shen Sha (Cinnabar) additionally clears Heart Fire. Adding Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis) disperses Liver Fire. Adding Bo He (Mint) clears Lung Heat. Adding Shi Gao (Gypsum) eliminates Stomach Heat. These herbs are incorporated into formulas such as Tong Sheng Shuang Jie Tang and Jie Du Tang according to syndrome differentiation; enumerating all combinations is not feasible here.
Chen Sha Liu Yi San (Cinnabar Six-to-One Powder) Treats palpitations and excessive sweating during summer heat, with painful, scanty urination.
Yi Yuan San one dose, plus Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 1 qian, processed by water flotation).
Pu Hui San (Reed Catkin Ash Powder) [from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*] Treats Pi Shui (Edema affecting the skin) with impaired urination and thirst.
Remove Gan Cao from Yi Yuan San. Use Hua Shi (Talcum, 3 fen) and add Pu Hui (Ash from Reed Catkins, 7 fen). Grind into powder. Take one fang cun bi (a measuring spoonful) with drink, three times daily.
Hua Shi Bai Yu San (Talc and White Fish Powder) [from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*] Treats Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst) with impaired urination, lower abdominal distension and pain due to Blood Stasis.
Remove Gan Cao from Yi Yuan San. Add Luan Fa (Burning Hair, burnt) and Bai Yu (White Fish, roasted) in equal parts. Grind into powder. Take one fang cun bi with drink, three times daily.
Treats severe fever, irritability, and thirst in Heat Diseases. Also treats Zhong Shu (Heatstroke) with irritability and thirst.
Shi Gao (Gypsum, 8 qian, raw, crushed) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 3 qian) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, 1 qian, roasted) Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa, half he).
Decoct in water. Divide into three warm doses. Consume entirely within one day.
Ren Shen Bai Hu Tang (Ginseng White Tiger Decoction) [from *Yu Han Jing*, i.e., Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang] Treats Heat Disease with dry tongue, extreme thirst, fever, and aversion to cold on the back.
Add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) to Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction).
Gui Zhi Bai Hu Tang (Cinnamon Twig White Tiger Decoction) Treats thirst in Warm Disease caused by exogenous pathogens, and Wen Nue (Warm Malaria) characterized by fever preceding chills.
Add Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig) to Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction).
Cang Zhu Bai Hu Tang (Atractylodis Rhizoma White Tiger Decoction) Treats Shi Wen (Damp-Warmth) with body heat and cold feet.
Add Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) to Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction).
Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang (Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum Decoction) [from *Yu Han Jing*] Treats irritability and thirst after severe illness.
Remove Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Zhu Ye (Bamboo Leaf), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), and Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber).
Ji Ji Tang (Ji Ji Decoction) Treats Upper Heat and Lower Cold.
Add Shu Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Lateralis Radix, 3-5 fen) to Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang (Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum Decoction).
Qing Re Jie Du Tang (Clear Heat and Detoxify Decoction) Treats severe fever in Seasonal Epidemics.
Remove Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), and Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens).
Gua Lou Ge Gen Tang (Trichosanthes Root and Kudzu Root Decoction) Treats Feng Wen (Wind-Warmth) without high fever but with thirst.
Remove Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) and Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Gua Lou Gen (Trichosanthis Radix), Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix). Note: This formula treats Wind-Warmth without high fever but with thirst. If there is no high fever, thirst should not occur. Since there is thirst, it implies the presence of heat. This is because Wind-Warmth pathogenic heat is internally accumulated. Therefore, it borrows from Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang (White Tiger Decoction plus Ginseng), removing Zhi Mu and Jing Mi, adding Gua Lou Gen to clear heat and relieve thirst, Ge Gen to distribute Stomach Qi and circulate fluids, and Fang Feng to open the exterior and disperse pathogens. Ren Shen and Gan Cao assist Shi Gao and Gua Lou Gen in transforming heat. Although the nature is sweet and warm, there is no risk of aiding latent pathogens.
Da Qing Tang (Isatidis Decoction) Treats toxic heat in macules/rashes.
Remove Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Da Qing (Isatidis Folium), Hei Shen (likely referring to a specific preparation or herb, contextually similar to Sheng Di Huang or similar cooling agents), Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba), and Zhu Ru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia).
Yu Lu San (Jade Dew Powder) Treats children suffering from heat injury, with yellow vomiting and diarrhea.
Remove Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) and Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Han Shui Shi (Halloysitum Rubrum). (If genuine Han Shui Shi is unavailable, use Hua Shi/Talcum). Grind into powder. Take half to one qian bi per dose, mixed with boiling water. Three times daily. Xue Li Zhai stated: If appetite is normal but diarrhea occurs from drinking cold water, this medicine is suitable. If appetite is poor, fatigue is present, and hot drinks are preferred, this indicates Spleen Qi sinking; Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) plus Sheng Ma and Chai Hu is appropriate. This formula is strictly contraindicated.
Lan Xiang Yin Zi (Perilla Leaf Infusion) Treats Xiao Zhong (Consuming Middle) with polyphagia but emaciation, extreme thirst, and constipation.
Remove Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa) from Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Licorice Root), Lan Xiang (Perillae Folium, commonly known as Xiang Cao), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), and Bai Dou Kou (Amomi Fructus Rotundus). Note: Xiao Zhong is caused by accumulated heat in the Spleen and Stomach. Therefore, Li Dong Yuan established Lan Xiang Yin Zi based on Ren Shen Bai Hu Tang. As stated in the *Nei Jing*: "Treat with Lan to remove stale Qi." However, Fang Feng, Ban Xia, Dou Kou, and Sheng Ma in this formula are overly acrid and drying. Why not remove these and add Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus) to nourish the source of transformation, assisting Bai Hu Tang in clearing Stomach Heat? Lan Xiang removes stale Qi, similar to the use of Mu Xiang in Gui Pi Tang. Alternatively, adding Zhi Mu and Lan Xiang to Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang would be more appropriate.
Sheng Jin Gan Lu Yin (Saliva-Generating Sweet Dew Infusion) Treats Upper Jiao heat and thirst.
Remove Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) and Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) from Lan Xiang Yin Zi (Perilla Leaf Infusion). Add Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Shan Zhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Huo Xiang (Pogostemonis Herba), and Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix).
